We usually feel reluctant to think positively of this painful and somewhat inconvenient point in each month, but what if we could use this time to grow and understand ourselves more, spiritually? You are reading page 2 of Your Period and Its Spiritual Significance. If you want to start from the beginning Go to First Page.

Man, my IUD was the best health-related decision I ever made. Rock-solid birth control and no periods for going on 7 years now. I still get very minor monthly cramps but that's about it. I'm basically an IUD evangelical at this point.

Oh my god new-age-y goddess granola crunch, I guess someone enjoys their period.

I did enjoy the break from my serious day though.

I went through menopause in my late 40s and was tickled pink about it. I don't miss the cramps, the headaches, the out-of-control bleeding, the inconvenience of having to carry pads and tampons all the time (and never knowing when I'd start...or stop). I also don't miss the mess, the smell, none of it. I did love being pregnant, but that accounted for only a short time out of my thirty-five plus years of periods. Compared with all that, perimenopause was a cakewalk, and when I finally stopped having them altogether the hot flashes and mood irregularities went away too. I'm lucky like that.

My biggest issue with my menses was the worry about leaking through to my clothes. I wish I knew about having a D&C before I actually did. Halleluha!

I don't want to be rude but this post made me think "REALLY?".

I'm sad I don't get to experience all this extra spirituality.

Coming from someone who is peri-menopausal, I am not feeling very spiritual. I never know if or when I am going to get a period and then when they do show up it is pure hell for about 36 hours. Been to gyn. Just have to ride it out.

PS I agree, the hot flashes SUCK

Week 7 of my "period" here. I'm not feeling very spiritual about it at all.
