Nobody “loved” it.

Those who say such a thing are employing the often used tactic of demonizing the other side.

Kind of like saying the other side would be happy for a bad economy if it gets rid of Trump.  People love to demonize the other side.

However, that's not fair to demonize the other side with such blanket statements.

I agree, no one "loved it".  But they supported the idea because there parents are criminals, he was enforcing a law in place, and Obama did it too.  They weren't kind.  Ultimately it wound up being an unsustainable approach and Trump backed off.  But the damage is done.

I certainly don't need to try and demonize Trumpsters.

They do that quite nicely on their own.

Here is recent example, as it happened last night, from CNN report:

Trump Jokes After Rally Attendee's Suggestion To 'Shoot' Migrants At Border

Yes, Trumpsters do an excellent job of demonizing themselves.

I don't find the comment from the pep rally attendee funny.

Do you?

Trump did.

That tells me all I need to know about him, and his supporters.

Further proof that some need to demonize the other side to justify their disdain.

One horrific comment shouldn’t be projected onto the significant proportion of the population.

Does anyone honestly believe 40-50% of your fellow citizens believe we should simply shoot migrants?

Well, it looks as though Trump has issued those higher tariffs on China.

He claims they good for the US economy. That is a LIE.

The stock market is down.

He claims the Chinese are paying for those tariffs. That is a LIE.

The price of washing machines is UP.

Americans are paying for those saved steel jobs.

Farmers are paying for tariffs.

But I am looking on the bright side. The trade deficit with China is down, as Americans buy fewer Chinese goods.

Maybe Americans will stop their love affair with cheap, Chinese goods.

That is a positive thing.

Just in case anybody believes the Trump LIE, about China paying for those tariffs, from NPR:

New Round Of Tariffs Takes A Bigger Bite of Consumers Budget

Trumpsters were VERY vocal in these threads, over their support for family separations.

Trump thought he was going to ride the issue to victory in the midterms.

He was WRONG.

The courts ruled against him.

The court of public opinion voted against him, as Republicans lost in the midterms.

Again, none of these immigrants or asylum seekers were convicted in a court of law.

Trump was forced to back off in large part. Yes, forced.

It was a LOSING issue for him.

When posters start a thread, entitled the Caravan, and daily support an indefensible policy, I say they "loved" the policy.

You may give them cover, I don't.

There was an agreement made, and at the last minute China reneged on it .  At that point, there was no choice but to go ahead with the tariffs.

The tariffs aren’t going to be permanent.  Both sides have reasons to end them and will feel the pressure to do so.

That's your prerogative.  I can't interpret how you see the world and frankly I'm thankful for that.

One disdainful comment and I would agree with you, but there are many examples of disdainful comments.

There is a clear pattern.

Do I believe most Americans approve of punching members of the press?

No.

But it happens at Trump pep rallies.

Again, a pattern.

I agree there are problems with China, but is this the best way to handle it?

No.

That's fine.

I don't sweat it.

We will see how long farmers are willing to stand by Trump.

I heard him say today, that the US will buy their products in larger quantities than China.

Do I believe him?

No.

He has a long history of lying.

I would welcome your opinion as to what would be a better way.  Care to elaborate?
