wow...you guys are going to love my diet!

Breakfast: coffee (2 cups) with 1 tsp sugar/cup, 1 bowl raisin bran with skim milk

Snack: whatever is in my desk drawer + small can of V8

Lunch: cup of soup and a small salad, sometimes I have a fresh whole wheat roll if the hospital cafe baked that morning.

Dinner: some frozen lean cuizine or similar meal

Snack: popcorn (microwave), sometimes fritos or totilla chips, fresh fruit or veggies when I have them.

I am currently living solo and have little time for food prep, although even if I had time I probably wouldn't do much better. My dh is the cook of the family!

lots of water and plenty of scotch (after 5 pm)

no soda pop, few sweets, occasional pizza, rare fast food.

I walk and ride my bike daily when weather allows.

since i'm into bodybuilding i have several meals a day, along with my exercises, plus keep plenty of fluids on hand with any sugar added or preservatives.

meal 1

  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
     
  • 1 tbsp flax-seed
     
  • 1/2oz walnuts
     
  • 1 scoop protein powder
     

meal 2

  • 1 cup plain, nonfat yogurt with vanilla extract
  • 6 hardboiled egg whites
  • 1 tbsp dried cranberries
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
     

meal 3

  • 1 whole wheat pita
  • 4oz grilled chicken
  • 1 orange
  • sliced lettuce
  • sliced tomato
  • 1/2oz almonds
  • grainy mustard to taste
     

meal 4

  • 1 can tuna
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp grainy mustard
  • 1/2 cup cooked quinoa
  • 1 orange
     

meal 5

  • 3 cups spinach leaves
  • 2 strips turkey bacon
  • 1/2 cup black beans
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms
  • 1 cup chopped carrots
  • 3oz grilled chicken
  • balsamic vinegar with italian seasoning
     

meal 6

  • 9 egg whites
  • 1 slice canadian bacon
  • 1oz reduced fat cheese
  • 1 apple
  • 1 pear
     

i'm getting hungry just writing down my daily meals, so it's time for my fourth meal :d... aloha~

this is why i'm pushing my 12 year old into weight lifting. he is a little heavy and loves to eat. i explained how much he could eat if he was lifting and we started last week!

Oh my - you guys are so disciplined and so healthy. I have terrible eating habits (and I know it). Here is mine for today (a work day):Breakfast - coffeeLunch - more coffeeDinner - half sub from subway and maybe 5 potato chipsSnacks - noneNot much better on my days off I'm afraid. Nice thread, maybe I'll learn something :)

Yeah OK...

Breakfast:

  • No appetite in the morning unless there's cookies laying around.

Lunch:

  • BLT w/ spicy mustard instead of mayo.
  • Half can of Pringles.
  • Iced tea w/ Splenda (it just mixes in better than sugar).

Dinner:

  • Usually something Indian or Thai over steamed rice. Spicy.
  • Coke Zero over ice.

Movie time or study time:

  • Another sandwich and the rest of the Pringles.
  • Half a bag of Oreos and a glass of milk.
  • Save the other half of the bag for breakfast.

Sorry guys, but your diets would make me hate my life. :banghead:

Breakfast: A big bowl of cereal with skim milk (I also love eggs, oatmeal, or toast with peanut butter, but I'm so hungry when I wake up that cooking or even heating water often sounds like a punishment...I can't sleep in on days off because my stomach wakes me)

Lunch: Yesterday was a big big salad with romaine, cucumbers, cheese, and onions with a granola bar and a dried fruit strip.

Other times I like a PB&J on whole grain bread, usually an apple and repeat either the granola bar or fruit strip.

Or a can of soup with apple/granola bar/ fruit strip/ all of the above (and usually a slice of toast to dip in the soup)

OR leftovers

snack: yesterday was a sonic java chiller. Sometimes its a little healthier, but then I end up having dessert after dinner. Usually, if there's not junk, it's a yogurt (blended, not lite, I have a thing against artificial sweeteners) with an apple, or a slice of cheese or 2.

Dinner: Yesterday was a taco with 96/4 ground beef, black beans, red, yellow, and orange peppers, romaine, and cheese, on a tomato basil tortilla, then a yogurt because I was still hungry.

Or fish-breaded and baked, with veggies and rice/couscous

Or-chicken, baked potatoes, veggies

Or-lots of other delicious options

After dinner-If I haven't had some sort of dessert like food during the day (and sometimes even if I have), I end up with a cupcake or some ice cream. I try not to eat junk every day, but it seems like I have some sort of sweet more days than not.

Not the best diet, but not the worst. I've found that I'll eat sweets until my stomach hurts if I don't just have a little when I want it...or that's just how I justify my addiction. I drink coffee in the morning and at night if I have something to do. Either black, no sugar, or with a little bit of flavored creamer (a little bit as in if I use the little tiny cups that would last me about 3 cups of coffee), then I normally just drink water, but occasionally some tea (iced or hot!) Or a glass of juice.

Why?...it"s not like we're eating dirt and grass. You would be amazed at how much better you feel when you aren't consuming nutritionally poor foods. Not saying you feel bad right now, I didn't when I was eating processed foods...that is, until I stopped eating processed foods and found out I really was feeling horrible. Also, eating healthy foods does not preclude having a treat. I love Oreos. When we have them in the house and I want some I'll eat 2. Do I want more...sure! But I know that I'll regret it it later (sugar doesn't agree with me) so it isn't worth it. I also love Chipotle. So my trainer and I figured out a meal that is nutritionally sound yet yummy. I eat it every thursday night. To the point that half the time I get it for free because they know me so well. If you look at the menu I posted a few days ago tell me what you find so utterly unappealing. Not being snarky here...I'm really interested in what turns you off healthy stuff. I think it would make a great discussion because you are closer to the "norm" of

American culture in your eating habits. It's always interesting to find out the basis of peoples biases.

Awesome ideas! I tend to get stuck in ruts when I am watching my intake, so this will help me mix it up. Here is today's plan:

B: 2 deviled eggs (easy to grab and eat in the car, lol), half a grapefruit, a bit of almond milk until I realized that unsweetened almond milk by itself is pretty gross. Will save it for smoothies.

S: same as yesterday, because I really enjoyed it, celery sticks and spicy guacamole (the single serving packs of Wholly Guacamole are awesome)

L: Hamburger patty with sauteed mushrooms and onions, lots of cut up raw veggies with ranch to dip, an orange

S: Handful raw mixed nuts only if I'm hungry

D: Will have a huge salad to get my leafy greens in, and some "drunk" chicken aka beer can chicken that hubby threw on the grill last night.

Day 2 of this uber-restricted eating plan and I am a little headachy and tired, but that is liekly because the baby kept us up all night. Poor kid is teething and we think has another ear infection :(

Purple_scrubs, I love the individual packs of guacamole. They are so convenient and yummy!

This is fun! I enjoy eating well but I have a hankering for unhealthy foods more often then I wish but I believe with time, this will slowly go away. I also have recently cut out all meat except fish so officially a "pescetarian" married to a vegetarian :) Therefore, egg/egg whites, quinoa, beans, and greek yogurt are staples in our house for protein purposes.

Here's today's menu:

B: black coffee, 1 serving of non-fat greek yogurt w/1 tbsp honey and 1/2 cup granola (forgot my blueberries at home!)

S: handful of almonds

L: bruchetta veggie burger, quinoa w/garlic chili sauce on top (DELISH!) and a few roasted red bell peppers; a dove dark chocolate square

S: apple

D: sauteed veggies (mushrooms, onions, zuccini) and black bean tacos on ww tortillas & w/cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado and spicy salsa; roasted red bell peppers on the side (we are currently obsessed)

Dessert: possibly a single chocolate cookie (I tend to bake a lot and give half the batches away to coworkers, family, friends, etc.)

I don't count calories bc I really don't want to be obsessed or feel like I have to do it the rest of my life. I try to exercise everyday in some form, even if it's simply taking a 2 mile walk. I am finishing up a desk job this month so once nursing school begins and later being a nurse, I will be walking a lot on a daily basis anyways. I can't wait for that! A desk job is what made me gain weight to begin with....
