What's to eat?

For good or bad, we all have to eat. So I'm asking - is there anything extra delicious that tempts you? Or something that you'll avoid at a costs?

I receive Meals-on-Wheels. Their meals aren't too special or anything but when one is limited by the inability to cook, it is a godsend program.  But -

I hate their Popeye spinach and beets.  That wet seaweed is NOT appetizing. Yet I like fresh spinach in salads or like lettuce on sandwiches. Or some wilted over hot pasta or floating in chicken soup!

Whadda think?

I used to loooooove roasted garlic cloves....but since I lost my sense of smell and taste 3+ years ago, what's the point of eating it?  I couldn't enjoy it anyway. I used to plan for a private garlic-fest when I knew I would not be working for 3-4 days, and hubby was elsewhere. GAWD! It was delicious to me, like chocolate candy and I had to stop myself from eating it all in one sitting. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. (At least my salivary glands are still functioning!)

Fig Newton cookies.

I don't ever recall buying a bag for myself. Not a favored cookie. But I ate them when we visited my Grandpop's. It was the only cookie they bought (that and those nasty Stella Doro dry bricks).

So I smile when I get one of those individual cookie packs from my Meals-on-Wheels program. Like a treat from my past.

Hot dogs!!! With mustard - NEVER ketchup!

I've liked hot dogs since was a kid. One of the best-est meals when I was little. With canned cream corn.

(This was the meal my Mom would try to serve us that yucky Popeye spinach - she loved the stuff & hoped we kids would eat it.)

My younger sister hates hot dogs - like she becomes nauseous whenever it would be served. Even the smell does her in. Begrudgingly she'll grill them for other at a BBQ.

It's a shame, but Meals-on-Wheels doesn't serve them. Yeah, I know - high in sodium; nitrites & nitrates; high calories ....

And they'd either be steamed or boiled, which I consider hot dog desecration. Yes to mustard, and not just no, but Hell NO to ketchup even nearby a hotdog. Howard Johnson's used to make the best hot dogs, grilled with butter, and placed in a bun with both-sides grilled with butter. I used to like a light sprinkle of sweet relish on one along with the mustard. Never had a better one in all these years since.

Canned smoked salmon on crackers. Only the freshly harvested and hand smoked stuff.   Pickled beans from the last garden on the side.

I've never tried anything even close, but it sounds so decadently delicious.

I believe that years ago I tried hummus. Wasn't impressed. But now the flavors have expanded.

Tried CHOCOLATE hummus! I like it! Kind of like choc pudding with a little 'grit' to it. But it is deeelicious!

Will be buying again. Next to try is a sun-dried tomato flavor. Also tried an avocado flavor one - jury is still out on that one.
