Viva La Vida. Used to listen to this one all the time after my engagement broke apart, and I lost my job. Gave me motivation not to go from the top of the world to sweeping streets.

On the car radio today I heard Ton Loc's 'Funky Cold Medina'..."that Medina's a monster, y'all". The lyrics are so funny, and I love the play between the bass-line and the drums. Also heard The Stray Cat Blues.

My uncle used to sing this song.

For toddlers, 3 & 4 year olds, their parents and grandparents:

No.

I would kill someone that sung that to me while I was sleeping.

Been listening and watching different video versions of Queen's and David Bowie's "Under Pressure". There are a number of re-mixed/edited videos showing Bowie and Freddie Mercury singing together (obviously from spliced videos of a couple different concerts). This particular re-mixed/edited video is probably the best one that I've watched so far.

I still mourning Bowie's death. Been listening to a whole lot of his music. Also been listening to a whole lot of Queen music with Freddie Mercury.

Enjoy. . . :)

"Desperado"-Linda Ronstadt. What a shame that MS took her beautiful voice from her, and us.

Turntable Tuesday. With all our Billy Joel talk, I'm going there. If you ask most people which Billy Joel song is their favorite, the temptation is to go for Piano Man, and why not? It's autobiographical. Most of Billy's songs tell a story.

Many Long Islanders will tell you their favorite is Scenes From A Italian Restaurant. It's mine. Here's why.

It's LONG. There's a long story there, with ditties in the middle, pace changes, key changes, 2 saxophones!

The Italian Restaurant in question is Christiano's, in Syosset, which recently closed. Most of us in my county have eaten there many times. They had great baked lasagna.

The part that goes : "Things are okay with me these days, got a good job, got a good office, got a new wife got a new life and the family is fiiiiiine..." was originally a song Billy Joel wrote called Things are okay in Oyster Bay! where he talked about getting a meatball sub at the deli.

Brenda and Eddie were actually Glenna and Eddie. Glenna was a girl BJ was crushing on, but she was dating Eddie, so he asked out my friend's mom, who was Glenna's best girl friend. They went out for a week, but it didn't make Glenna jealous enough to break up with Eddie, so BJ broke up with my friend's mom and they all went "back to the Village Green, but you can never go back there again!"

It is one of his top 3 crowd favorites here in NY- the other 2 being Piano Man and NY State of Mind.

So, yea.

Here's Scenes, performed very well and VERY sweatily by BJ and his long time, talented band, right before they dismantled Shea Stadium, home of my Mets.

BJ is a Yankees fan.
