You are reading page 48 of 10/10 What I learned this week. If you want to start from the beginning Go to First Page.

Wednesday morning at 2 a.m. I heard banging and chewing above my head (in the attic). Take note that hubs has been out of town roughly 15 weeks. Our neighborhood was a pecan orchard in a previous life and there are random pecan trees scattered about. Apparently, rats just LOVE pecans and, thus, we tend to have roof rats who then become attic rats.

So, yesterday, Poo Jr and I spent the evening setting a cage trap and lots of huge rat snap traps in the attic. That was a first for this city girl. Honestly, I'd only seen snap traps on Tom & Jerry cartoons. After work I get to go back up and look for dead bodies. I'm kinda' excited.

Ok, I totally thought I was quoting Ood's dead animal below her house post there.

When you're EXPECTING to find dead bodies of troublesome a**hole pests it's one thing lol.

I have a half brother in Minnesota. One time when our father and I were visiting his mom made them go up into the attic with tennis rackets and "handle" some bats that had infested it. It was interesting to hear from down below.

I've learned having my older son home makes the house really loud. Being boisterous and loud, myself, this was missed.

I've also learned that hearing one of the very talented students just hanging out on the SW's couch and playing the guitar is very soothing, both to her and to me.

Who is DW?

I lost my special* tweezers a year ago and quickly got a replacement from the Vermont Country Store. Last night the replacement tweezers fell somewhere. I looked and looked and not only found the tweezers but also found the pair of tweezers I lost last year! They had fallen between the arm and seat of the sofa where I sit, and they were hung up in the sofa's foot-rest mechanics

* what's special about them is that they are gold-tipped German-made steel, and they are the ONLY kind of tweezers I find to be consistently satisfactory and the ONLY tweezers I have used for 30+ years.

That's what you call "Brother, go find your brother." If you drop something valuable, drop another one, and they usually find each other. It comes from Chapter 8 of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

I saw that. What a wonderful bride! Her husband is a lucky guy.

She was called by her father to let her know that he & her grandparents were in an accident on the way to her reception. She got left her reception and arrived as her family was being packed for transport. The smiling bride with the crash scene in the background (that has gone viral) she stated was a posed photo taken by her mom.

As she walked back to the car in the drizzling rain, holding her wedding dress off the ground, ambulance and fire truck behind her, Ray's mother snapped a photograph.

The comments on many stories are unrealistic stating that there is some law that firefighters, medic, EMTs and nurses have a legal obligation to stop at all scenes whether on duty or not.

She didn't stop as some headlines imply, she went to the scene upon learning it was her family. So would I. I can deal with a party later can't replace family.

I would love to see if Back to the Future Part 2 got it right. I'm sure the Cubs fans would like to see it happen too.

The Cubs could not be playing the Marlins in a WS because both teams are in the NL. So the movie got that part wrong.

Today, thanks to TMZ I learned that Lamar Odom died last night. May his troubled soul be at rest.

I also learned that a virgin GA teen has decided that she must have contracted HIV from a hair weave. She tested positive for HIV 3 weeks after the weave, she & her mother insist she is a virgin

Okay, this is weird. A poster just started about 10 new threads thus far. And I'm pretty sure she's going to start some more. :what:

Who is it? I don't see them.
