No stars in my eyes, eyebrow threading is when you have the lady pluck (pull) your eyebrows out with sewing thread. You hold the top and bottom of the eyebrow, and they "thread" the eyebrows to the perfect shape. It lasts longer than waxing, and is more precise.

They have the thread in their hands, and shape your brows to your face. After you are done they give you aloe vera to ease the stinging. Hurts more than waxing, but lasts longer.

Thanks for the explanation. I was picturing tiny beads threaded into the hairs :D

Might look quite pretty though, but the beautician would need to invest in a rather high-magnitude microscope :lol2:

Woke up at 0530 (too early) to pee and out of habit checked the phone in the kitchen and it was blinking with a message from the nurse on LTC where my hospice patient is and asking for a call back. I'd just been there an hour before that call came in (9:30 - 10:30 p.m.) I went back to my bedroom to check if I'd somehow slept through my cell phone ringing and nope - no call.

We don't have a phone in our bedroom - and protocol says if you don't get the nurse on her home phone, you call her cell. And everyone knows I sleep with my cell phone next to me.

So, I called the hospital - the nurse who called me of course was gone. Everything worked out ok - the daughters of the dying patient won't leave their mom alone to sleep. They have the light blazing at 10 p.m. and are rubbing her arms (she hates that) and talking and talking. Frustrating.

The hospital ended up on lock down for some reason . . .I'll find out later.

So . . what am I doing right now? Drinking coffee, reading AN . .. .can't go back to sleep after all that excitement.

What am I doing now......hmmmm. Doing what i can to avoid drama.....the "ignore" post option is wonderful :D I'm all for a good, CIVILIZED discussion, but sometimes I wonder if the majority of the folks on AN with uteruses are on the rag or PMSing at the same time :D..:lol2::lol2: :chair:

jmo Maybe they all had funky shifts at work, who knows :D

I really enjoy folks here- especially on Central- but overall, my dog seems to be the most consistent life I'm around in the grand scheme of things :) And that's not a bad thing :twocents:

Fiddle-dee-dee ;)

OK, back to FB :D

xtxrn, I hear you about AN. I have basically stopped going there. Too much negativity and then it develops into nasty. If they want to beat each other up, fine. I just am not willing to always feel like either I am defending an innocent question or fighting to keep my own cool. Over here @ AN-C it is so much better. We still can get heated but I think all of us know it is more light-hearted.

Just returned from quick trip to see our old friend. He is doing well in rehab.

Clothes in washer and almost ready for dryer. Last load ready to go in. I think I will do some reading. I started a Nevada Barr and want to get back to it while we have elect. and light.

I'm watching CNN for news on Irene and also surfing the web. I just now finished looking at a map to see where Delaware is. (Honest, I used to know this; I had a cardboard puzzle of the US and knew every state by shape and where it went. I also new every state's capital. Hmmm..... I think Dover is Delaware's but I'm not going to go check.)

I have just been wondering how my AN friends are doing who are in Irene's path. OH! BP just came on line. She must still have power. I see on FB that Elvish doesn't.

No I'm going to get up and take some ibuprofen for my aching back.

Delaware is a funny state. Tiny, only 3 counties but split into 2 areas. We, in the upper part of the state call the southern part "slower Delaware", derived from Lower Delaware. Things are radically different in the lower part of the state. Up in my neck of the woods we are really an extension of Philly.

I am waiting for the bad storm. Worrying about my dog who hates even a drop of rain but does not like to use her potty pads in front of us. I think she is embarrassed to have to go inside. Well, later she will not have a choice.

Xtxrn, I tried to quote something you said, but it is not working at the moment. I was wondering what is the ignore post button? Just curious.

The eyebrow threading feels just as bad, waxing to me. I had to find something else to do to them because waxing started to make them super thin not at all attractive to me.

Currently listening to the news about the hurricane. While keeping a eye on my niece
