Morning

Was a good day at work yesterday, not too busy but productive.  Was wondering if I'd hit productivity numbers with being off 2 Mondays but I should be OK

After work did some embroidery and some exercise.  Ordered some more books

Today have dinner with J at our usual place after work.  Will also do the grocery shopping afterwards

Weather will be fairly consistent for the next couple days, high near 80 and lows around 60

Good morning.

Beautiful day today.  Got in a 7 mile walk this morning.  It's currently 81 and will only be in the mid 80's.  It can stay like this all year and I wouldn't miss the "seasons".

Need to go into work and have the people from the new owners help me set up my email as they are on site today.  It's easier than making an appointment remotely because I have to get out anyway.   As I was setting it up I hit one of those automatic passwords by mistake and don't know what it is.  DOH

Have a hot yoga class scheduled and need to do some meal prep.  Working tomorrow.

Good morning Joe and Tweety!

I remember when our hospital was purchased by a for profit corporation. They were greedy. It motivated US to unionize. Because we were union, when the corporation was sold to another for-profit chain the new company did NOT was a union so OUR hospital was sold to a non-profit. It Was a long transition with us having to apply for our jobs. BUT it worked out well as we could negotiate for improved patient care. It took many years, but we and thousands of California nurses achieved the life saving safe staffing law:

It is my 76th birthday. Husband and I slept well last night, so I think we will go somewhere. Maybe a drive through a canyon and get some take out food. If we can eat it under a tree in a park that will be nice.

Awoke to the lovely sound of rain gently hitting the tree outside my bedroom window. We really need the precipitation to recharge the aquifers, and of course it is needed on the other side of the state to quash the fires. I tried to play online trivia last night, but got very tired and decided to leave early.

Today is my half day, and I am finishing up some data entry and trying to avoid my very nice, very detailed co-worker who is finding all sorts of minutiae to call to my attention, including all the mistakes the crazy one has made that she has discovered. Um, I think it's best to speak directly to her, maybe? I may stop at Costco on the way home.

Tweety and Joe, your weather sounds lovely. It's supposed to be windy and showery here for the rest of the week.

herring, I am a firm supporter of unions! I listened in to a group call with our state organization and it is disheartening to hear about the struggles that continue with adequate PPE, although the state case numbers are trending down. Our local hospital is not-for-profit, but sometimes its hard to believe. A nun used to be the administrator but those times are long gone.

What a yucky week/month/year.

Thank you Joe! amoLucia!

nursej22 We are still laughing. Thanks for the FUNny video!

Two sons called already. First was the oldest step-son, who lived with us the first two years after coming to California from Chicago. Youngest, who now lives in a suburb of Atlanta called later because he knows his brother likes to be first. (They shared a bunk bed those two years)

Gotta keep the phone handy today!

Having a very nice homemade za'atar spiced and sun-dried hummus wrap for lunch that I made.  It's so good with some fresh spinach, red peppers and kalamata olives.

They were able to get my password changed to one that I wanted but my account is locked.  They said I'm the second one this happened to and it's an IT problem, so someone from their corporate IT office will hopefully fix it.  I have until the 1st to get it resolved.

We don't have a union.  They aren't that popular because the huge not-for-profit chain is good to their people and they love working there and are top in area pay for RNs.  The one hospital that is an HCA hospital that has a union was so bad that after five years in they had a vote whether to drop them.  Apparently the ICU nurses swayed the vote and the union remains.  But 10 years of having a union the nurses went on strike over ratios.  Seems to me the Union really didn't help much if after 10 years they need to go on strike.

I do believe in Unions though.

Happy Birthday Herring!  I hope you enjoyed your day!

We had a gorgeous day here too, with temps in the mid 70s.  The leaves are just starting to change.  We've been in a drought since last year, so I think the colors may be a little dull, as everything is so dry.

I just had a delicious pizza for dinner.  Thin crust, with carmelized onions, mushrooms, and artichoke hearts.  I like it well done with burnt edges.  I ate half of a small size and will have the rest for lunch tomorrow.

I am also a supporter of unions.  I've been a member of several at different jobs.

Joe-Hope you and J have a nice dinner tonight.

Tweety-IT stuff can be so frustrating!  Your lunch wrap sounds delicious, if you take out the olives, lol.  I love Za'atar and use it often.

J22-I'm with you on the yuckiness.  I wish we were getting a little rain here.  How's your arm feeling?

Hi Amo, Ted, Dianah, and everyone else who passes by.  Take care.
