Good morning!

Off today and up early.  Need to do some housework and cooking.  I have my annual physical today.  Nothing going on physically that we need to talk about.  I'll have to figure out if there is a patient portal because now that I think about it, I don't know what last year's labs say.  If there is a portal they don't publicize it at all.

Yesterday we had only municipal elections and three measures and they all passed.  We elected four city council representatives.  To be honest I only paid attention to my district and made a decision.  The two finalists running were both African American women and very similar in their stance.  Of course the one I voted for lost.  I hate to say I didn't realize we were also voting for all four districts up for election and the ones I voted for except for one lost.  It's all good though.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning-

There were no elections in my town yesterday.  Not much going on.  Working this Saturday, so it's a 6 day work week for me.  I honestly wouldn't mind finding a work at home position, maybe something in telemedicine.  The office drama is getting to be a bit much for me.  I'll have to do some research.

Tweety-I'm sure your doctor will tell you all is well, and you are a fine example of eating well and exercising.  We could all take a lesson from you.

Wishing everyone a good day!

Morning Tweety and BC

No elections here yesterday

Was very tired by the end of the work day and throughout the evening.  Had a headache too.  Felt sure a migraine was coming, but so far nothing. Feel fine this morning

Fairly ordinary work day yesterday, hoping for something similar today

Meeting J for dinner at one of our usual places

Going to expand my volunteering, am talking with a local gay group about working with them.  Have some more time available, especially since I work from home now

Weather will be in the 50s again today but will drop to the 30s later this week

Good morning, even though it's afternoon...

Never did get my closet set for winter weather (I don't have a dresser 😥 but hope to have one, one of these days). The impetus to take the winter clothes out has come in the form of a brief newspaper blurb ... the high temp on Friday is supposed to be 51 degrees. Got to have the turtleneck jerseys and various vests available, a heavier hoodie than the one I've been wearing through the rest of the year.

I have a pair of Quarx, which are like Crocs, but fit better. Only place I've seen them is on line a couple of years ago, so I don't know if they even still exist. But I need something solid, not with the holes for ventilation. Also, since I have yet to shrink down to the size 16 jeans I have squirreled away for such a time, I will have to go somewhere to buy some jeans, but 18W-Long (or Tall) are hard to come by. If you are a size 18W, the retailers assume you are of average or petite height. I will not wear pants that leave my ankles hanging out under the hem!

Mrs. Stupidly-Independent, who hasn't a clue about her weakness and stability, decided to take off with her walker to walk the periphery of the yard like she used to (but hasn't, for many weeks) ... She had to plow through the fallen acorns, twigs, branches, and exposed tree-roots, on uneven ground. I was on the front porch with Ozzie, hubby was taking a shower, and Nannie just up and left without telling anyone. I saw her when she came around the front corner of the house, went inside and told hubby, who was out of the shower by then. We stood looking out the kitchen window while she teetered and hobbled her way, nearly falling three times. Came back in saying it was hard to walk out there because of the stuff littering the ground, (already mentioned) AND because ...DUH! she had hurt both her little fingers and one ring finger when she fell and struck her forehead in the bathroom last week, AND her right hand is weak due to the twice-broken wrist, which makes her fingers splay to the side like you see on someone with Rheumatoid-Arthritis. Not much gripping ability there, besides which she has a tendency to hold onto the brakes instead of the handles of the rollator-walker. Jeesh and OY!

She got mad when hubby said he REALLY wished she would inform someone when she is going outside on her own. He told her that every  time he put his hand toward the doorknob on the back door, she always has to know where he is going, even though it is most likely he is only going out to smoke a cigarette or to the shed to get the bird food to do refills.

When we talked to the doctor about her some time ago, after a previous fall, he told us that we can't spend every second or minute watching her, so don't feel guilty. We seldom are very far from her, but sometimes she gets these wild hairs when we are not visible to her, and off she goes to do something she shouldn't. It may very well be her undoing one of these times.

SO! We will be checking the calendar for a day with NO planned appointments, and no need for shopping or errands, and hubby will contact the woman who took care of Nannie's hairdresser's mother, to come meet Nannie, and then arrange for a time/day when this NICE couple here will FINALLY get some free hours to spend time alone together, go out and about, eat Chinese food, etc. w00t!

Anyway, lunchtime approacheth and I have to call hubby to see if he will be bringing in some lunch for her, or if I need to fix her lunch. Yesterday when she was eating lunch ...unadvisedly  reclining in her chair, taking big bites and not chewing  thoroughly,    talking with her mouth full...so guess who 'got choked'! Surprise. When I nicely helped her to sit up and catch her breath, I tried to instruct her how NOT to choke again, I was accused of talking to her like she was stupid, and a dog. I was tempted to say "If the paw fits..." but of course I did not. Hubby said to her, "Suit yourself Nannie, but choking to death is not an easy way to die." She said in a huffy tone, "Oh, I'm not going to die!"  Hmmmm.

T'was a Xanax afternoon.

For ME. Nannie has been tedious and aggravating. Also:

The recently widowed 300+ lb neighbor came across the street to sit and talk cars w/ hubby. He also came over to brag on his new great grand-daughter.... But he was REALLY here, she thinks, to weasel his way into being her beau. He's 20 years younger than her. Remembering that she told us the doc had said that her 'cooter' has grown back together, I said, "What makes you think HIS equipment is still functioning?" She replied,

"He's a MAN isn't he?"

I reckon she thinks she's got the power.

Hello all!  Nothing new here.  I made soup last night so we will eat that tonight.  Very pleasant temps (72-ish) out when I got off work.  Of course, 30 min after I arrive home, it's dark outside!  Not much encouragement to get out of the house...

This weekend we practice on Saturday with P, preparing for her CD recording in January.  Sunday the band plays at the apple ranch.  Then we usually eat together at the nearby steakhouse.  Dh has discovered they do a marvelous prime rib.  No matter what we eat, though, it's good to chat with the band members. 🙂

No Stars, I hope you can arrange for respite care SOON!  What do you have in mind to do, with a few hours off??  🙂  I know you have thought of this, but if she were to break a leg or ankle or even sprain something, there would be NO more walking around for her!  Of course, in her present state of mind, that is not considered.

BC, sorry you have the extra work day this week (tacked onto DST to boot!!).  Hope it goes smoothly.

Hello Tweety and Joe!  And anyone else I missed (herring, amoLucia, nurseJ22, Lil Nel, etc)

Have a good evening!

Am asking - was there a column here for yesterday 11/5 or did I miss it?

Re Nannie hijinx :  Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be. One of those possible injuries might earn her a few days in a rehab facility. Even if she had a broken lower limb and an order for NO weight-bearing....I doubt that anyone would be able to convince her she is not able to walk, and should not try. A bedridden Nannie? Goooood luck!

I guess we are thinking of driving out to the jumbo mall, past the jumbo raceway, and wander around, watch people, do a tad of shopping, trying to find me some jeans, looking in the big bookstore for stuff about birds and deer, for our backyard wildlife visitors. Eat out somewhere. Another time we may find a movie...provided I don't totally freak out about the cost of admission these days.

Yes there is. If you can find the word "Entries" around the top left of this page, in a white box, click on it, and it will take you to where it will list the days/dates on the Daily Diary site.
