Good Morning!

Stayed up late reading and finishing up a book but somehow that didn't translate to sleeping in today. Meh....

Far, so glad to read your update. Enjoy the time with the kids.

NSIME, you need pain medication plain and simple and so sorry you have to stress so much about getting it. Yes, 69 is considered somewhat, ahem... older and narcotics need to be taken with care, and yes the old "I'm allergic to everything but narcotics" is suspect as is switching doctors, but it is what it is and I hope you find someone to listen to you. Your primary care doctor can't help with pain control? What a mess, I'm so sorry.

J22, hope you're son's cardiac condition is treatable and that he safely makes it to his destination.

Had a nice day yesterday doing much a nothing. I did to go Whole Foods and managed to only spend $139 and had a nice lunch while there. I was smart enough to eat first before shopping. Went to the beach and enjoyed a lovely sunset walk with best friend.

Good news!!! Billy's health insurance paid all but $250 deductible of his tooth access treatment and extraction. That's $1200 coming back to me. I'm so relieved at that. It was a bit confusing reading the coverage what was covered and how much and what wasn't covered.

Bad news is my dentist's office staff called to confirm my next appointment and inform me that the bill will be $2025 due upon arrival. Bleh...I was expecting that and have that set aside from the loan I got when this started (and I got the air conditioner).

Nothing much going on today but some housework and cooking.

Morning-

It's a frosty day here, and it's going to be a cold one tonight and tomorrow. Temps will be down in the teens tonight and won't get above 20 tomorrow. Meh. I'm looking forward to getting this work day over with and baking pies tonight. My family likes lots of dessert choices, LOL.

DD is being a bit of a pill. Either I'm bothering her and not respecting her desire to be alone, or I'm ignoring her and acting like I don't like her very much. You just can't win sometimes. DS will be home a bit later today. He was at his GF's last night after watching our town's high school football team play their Thanksgiving game in Fenway Park in Boston. I have no idea if they won. Many towns have moved their Thanksgiving day games to tonight as is it supposed to be so cold tomorrow AM.

It was good to see Far and Nurseactivist. Hope they stick around.

Tweety-Glad Billy's health insurance covered most of the bill. Hope that offsets the sting of your own dental bill.

NSIME-Hope today is better for you.

Nursej22-Is the cardiac thing a new problem for DS? Hope all turns out to be well for him?

Hope all the rest of you have a good day.

Good Morning!

Joe - Happy Birthday! Enjoy YOUR day! :)

Farawyn - Good to see you!

Tweety - It seems like you're experiencing a whole lot of dental-related stuff! (Ugh!) Glad to read that Billy's dental bill will mostly be paid by the insurance. (Didn't realize that there was doggie-teeth insurance that can be purchased.) But YOUR dental bill looks painful. (Ouch!) At least your dental situation is coming to an end when you finally get your implant.

BCgradnurse - Seems like these colder, frostier days make good occasions to stay warm & comfy indoors, and make pies. Lots of pies! LOL! Enjoy!

It's ANOTHER cold and dreary day here. Snow is on the ground. (Yuck!) Last night and tonight are my nights off from work. Working Thanksgiving night, then I'm off for the next FOUR nights! (Yes!)

Still have the remnants of this freakin' cold (cough, cough; sniffle, sniffle). Don't feel nearly as bad with this cold (flu?) as last week. (Blech!) Yesterday was a day of rest. Did nothing constructive. Today? Gonna record more music for this year's Christmas gift to family and friends. Don't plan on doing anything original, unfortunately. Just don't have the time, energy and/or inspiration. So, Amy and I are recording "oldies but goodies" Holiday Music with the intent of doing some artsy-fartsy videography with it. Instead of giving CDs of music as done in past years, we'll be giving DVDs this year.

Regarding work. . . been playing the role of Shift Director, lately. Our teeny-tiny ICU has been "Q". So, I've been offering the full-time night Shift Directors to be "On Call". They've accepted the offer during the past couple of nights. Neither needed to be Called In due to ICU admissions. (Although I'm happy to play the role of Shift Director during these "Q" nights, I will not do so at the expense of possible ICU admissions.)

Nothing much going on. It's the same-old, same-old during the Holiday Season. . .

Hope all have a pleasant day today! :)

Ted

Edited to Add:

Going down memory lane. Here's a real "oldie but goodie". It's a great tune by an exceptional progressive-rock group. It's "I've seen all Good People", by YES. Enjoy! :D

Happy Birthday Joe!!!

Ted glad you're starting to feel better. Good of you to be shift director for your coworkers. Billy doesn't have "dental insurance" but a health insurance and thankfully dental accesses and treatment are covered. Routine dental problems aren't covered I don't think. After three doggie critical care admissions for my late Ellie I decided to get coverage for Billy and then SlowBro, but it's now getting a bit costly per month as they both are over 10 years old and the rates go up. I have to decide if I want the insurance or to set aside cash, or use credit for future issues. I am glad however to have had the health care coverage for Billy.

BC, hope you have a nice Thanksgiving with all your prep to feed an Army. Sorry the daughter is being moody and hope she snaps out of it. That sure is cold weather.

Hi Far and Far's mom!

Mopped the floors and did a load of laundry and am debating going to the grocery store before it gets too crowded later.

Best friend and I are taking advantage of a good sale with the tour company we usually use Gate1 and booking the next Great Adventure to England, Scotland and Ireland. I don't have the money so he's paying and I pay him back by the month to where I'm paid up when it's time to leave.

Happy Birthday Joe!!

Ted, hope you continue to feel better.

Good luck with the DVD project!

Hello everyone!

BC, hope your DD realizes that she's not making things easier for either of you.

Would she do that to a roommate?? (methinks "no.")

Ah, youth.

You will weather this.

nurseJ22, agree about getting ds to get his ticker checked.

DM is the wild card. But you know all this.

Safe travels if y'all are traveling, and in any case, enjoy your Thanksgiving!

I have the one day off, and we will go to youngest ds and dil's, meet oldest ds there for some nice food.

I don't have to cook if I don't want to.

Stay warm!

Happy Birthday, Joe!

I am celebrating your birthday by being ill as a hornet. I spilled my whole cup of coffee all over the table beside my end of the sofa. I went on line and found no response from the PA about my request for crutches. I sent him a sarcastic email on pt portal thanking him for ignoring my request for an order for the crutches so I wouldn't have to lean on my cane and cause further problems to my body by being out of balance when I try to ambulate. I said it was a disgusting way to treat a patient and apparently he did not care. Way to win friends and influence people. I could give a hunk of dog poop, just like the PA does.

He COULD look on my medical record and see that I actually, truly AM allergic to to the med he suggested for me. I think Serotonin Syndrome is a legitimate reason to decline that med.

I will be contacting my PCP about a PRN for pain, and then, also, after Friday's Ortho follow-up appointment, I will request my records be sent to the other Ortho practice in town. Then I will go back to the COMMENT box of the CEO's site for the useless Ortho practice and spell it out for him. Like it will make any difference.

G'morning,

Thanks for concern about eldest's ticker. He was diagnosed with atrial flutter a couple of years ago and had an ablation. He is very physically fit, and I think perhaps because he is on the thin side, that he feels every irregular beat. And being a nerd, he keeps reading articles and self-diagnosing himself. I used to work with his cardiologist and I trust him, so I am glad he is getting this looked into. And I try not to play armchair quarterback!

So, busy day ahead, and then home to clean and prep for dinner. I am hoping to leave a little early, fingers crossed. The furnace guy arrived as I was leaving, so we will have some heat. It has warmed up to 50 and is raining. I left poor Angus's coat on him this morning as it was only 60 degrees in the house and the HVAC guys will be in and out.

Good news about doggy dental, Tweety. It's always something, right? Just when I thought I was going to get my credit card paid off, our furnace pooped out.

Your doggos are so lucky they have you! Trip to the UK and Ireland? Sweet! Maybe you can see Grumpy?

BCg, yeah, offspring. Perhaps dd is feeling stress from another part of her life and feels safe taking it out on you? That is cool that they are in town for Thanksgiving. Football at Fenway, how cool! My eldest got to play pee wee football in the Kingdome once, at halftime. and dh nearly got squished by one of his favorite Seahawks.

Hi Ted, sorry you are still not up to par. That is probably a good call having you do supe if you still have sniffle-cough.

NSIME, so frustrating when a provider won't work with you. Serotonin Syndrome is scary. We are all rooting for you!

Work is beckoning,

j22
