I hit post too soon and its' too late to edit, but here's my post. DOH!

Good Morning!

Missing Nel, did I miss something?

J22, sounds like a real good time with the grandkids.

Joe, glad you have a four day weekend to look forward to.

Steph, glad you had a nice four day break as well.

My older dog Caesar lived to be 17.  Toward the end he would pace a lot, sometimes I'd get home and see him walking around in circles and wonder how long he'd been doing that.  He became frail and thin and I called the vet and asked for some NSAID for him (rimadyl) and she said she wanted to do labs to see if his kidneys could handle it.  I said "he's 17, at this point I don't care about his kidneys handling it" and hung up.  He didn't seem to be in that much pain.   He died at home with me one morning in our bed.  SlowBro is about 11 and I can see his eyes clouding up some, but otherwise he's fit as a fiddle.

I had a decent day off yesterday.  Got everything I wanted accomplished.  Ready for the "bad week".  Work two, off one, work two.

Good Morning -

It seems that many of has have (or have had) elderly canine-family-members. Oddly, I feel comforted by this. The sad fact is that our canine-family-members don't live as long as we do. This, I KNOW all of you understand. And, appreciate. Mayson is our 3rd of 4 rescue dogs. The other three have long since passed away. Two passed away due to cancer. One passed due to a debilitating stroke due to old age. Mayson?? He keeps on ticking. Actually, he seems to be a bit more "animated" today. He's lying next to me in my studio now. I just have to make sure that I'm with him when he walks up and down our staircase.

I was up a good portion of the night, last night. Did some software updating, which is time-consuming. My studio has a dependable yet aging 2009 refurbished to a 2010 Mac Pro computer. It's upgraded to the hilt!! But it's also over 11 years old. So, I spent a good portion of the night researching a possible replacement for this old Mac Pro. I comfortable with the Apple Operating System. I also have investing a good amount of $$$$ in software that uses Apple's Operating System. So, I'm thinking about saving up for a "middle of the road" iMac Pro, which AIN'T CHEAP!! Hopefully the old Mac Pro will hang on for a least another year.

Today??? It's Mow the Freakin' Lawn Wednesday! Couldn't mow yesterday because of the down pouring rain. Today is supposed to be sunny outside. And humid. (Yuck!) But the grass grows. And grows. And grows. (Ugh!)

Tweety - Hope your "bad week" is reasonable for you. Regarding Lil Nel, I believe that she's taking a "sabbatical" from our Allnurses web-site because of tension in the U.S. Politics forum, as per an email she sent me. She didn't say how long she'd be away. I miss her too. I think I'll email her and ask to visit us in the Daily Diary forum.

Joe - Hope the new position continues to go well for you.

Steph - Nice to read that you had a good 4-days off attending the baseball tournament. Work seems busy for you. My hats off to you for the work that you do. I can only imagine that being a Hospice Nurse has its emotional challenges, given the work that you do. But I'm sure the people that are assigned to you are given warm, comforting and compassionate care.

NSIME - Good that the Allnurses emails are working for you. My hats off to you for the care that you provide to "Nannie". I know it is tough and frustrating (to say the least). Hope you get an appointment SOON to see the Neuro/Spine doc. It's not cool that you have to wait so long.

nursej22 - Seems like you had a nice time with the Grandsons! I haven't played Uno in YEARS! That game has been around for a long time, it seems. I remember playing that game with my family during our vacation time together.

herring_RN - Hope you have a nice day today. . .

Well. . . It's 6:24 AM (EST) in this part of the world. I recently heard the coffee pot go "Ding"!! It's time for First Coffee!

Hope all have a pleasant day today! 🙂

Ted

Morning Tweety and Ted

Fairly ordinary day at work yesterday.  Trying not to do too much....next week we have the 4th and the 5th off, so all work has to be crammed into Mon-Wed.  I dont' want to start stuff this week that I won't be able to follow up on next

Getting some pictures developed so I can have some at my desk at work.  Might get a plant too.  I figure I might as well personalize my desk a bit while I'm there

No word yet from J, though he said he would be in only sporadic contact while in CA.  Hope his trip is going well

Weather is getting warmer, will be close to 90 today.  Might even have to use the air conditioning. Rain possible today but hopefully it will hold off for a few days and things will get the chance to dry out a bit

Hello to The Trinity! Hello to all who follow!

Once again, Ozzie was insistent I get up and take the pups outside for AM Business Routines @ 9 AM. Heard the usual from-hips-to-knees complaints. Nannie was up, so I delivered her meds, breakfast, and local newspaper to her, then made my coffee and came back upstairs. Have to pay bills, go to the credit union, and also do some pharmacy refill pick-ups, and grocery shopping. Hubby and Nannie have their hair appointments this afternoon. Hubby is still sleeping.

If I don't get moving, I'm liable to lay back and snooze off again...

Later!

Tweety: I do plan to have a nice day.

Yesterday I went to the Orange County office of the accountant who handled step-Mom,s money. He is helping my sisters invest their inheritance and create a trust for our daughter.

On the way to the freeway I saw a cartoon of a blond freckled girl and the words "Susie's Southern Cooking" . I parked and went in. It is cafeteria style. Susie was from Oklahoma and opened the little restaurant in 1975. There are pictures on the walls of Susie as a child, young, and older woman. She was not there. I ordered a smothered pork chop lunch for my husband and string beans and cabbage as the two sides that go with a lunch. Even those who eat there at a table get their food in a Styrofoam box with plastic utensils.

It had HUGE portions so I gave husband half with some leftover sweet potatoes, ate some of both vegetables, and made a frozen dinner to give him another day. He really liked it. He called it "Soul Food" and said it was ALMOST as good as my cooking and that of his sisters and his cousins wife, who are good cooks.

Hi - nice to read y'all.

herring, what a great idea to stop and be adventurous.

I'm exhausted.  Up until 03 and took a Benadryl.  Woke up groggy and on the run for hospice.  We are one nurse down and so the two remaining are splitting up her hours.  I hope this all resolves soon. Anyone interested in moving here and working part-time for hospice??  😉

Ted, I need to mow the lawn too but I just don't think I can do it tonight.

Spidey and dad are at a baseball game 2.5 hours from here.

I'm hungry, cut too tired to cook.  But herring made me think about buying something in the deli . . . maybe a rotisserie chicken?  I think I can drive the 1.5 miles to the store.

I'm not on call tonight so I'm going to avail myself of Mr. Ambien.  I try not to do that on a regular basis and I've had a good couple of weeks of sleeping well but . . . I'm ready to pop that pill tonight.

Take care, eat well, sleep good.  Right!? 😍

Edited . . . I did mow the lawn, I didn't eat dinner, just a protein shake, I'm headed to bed now.  Just wanted Ted to know.

Hello all!

This was Day Three of Five, Back At Work.  Very busy.  Seems summers we are short, what with ppl taking vacations (like I just did! 😄 :D)

Last night dh went to a jam with a friend, and I trimmed all the bushes in front, and did some cleaning in the RV.  He will drive it to the storage area tomorrow, till next time (mid-August is the next festival).

My laptop on which the display has been wonky for some months, and which I now use thusly: laptop open, no display so cable attached from it to my old desktop computer's display shows me what's happening.  Anyway, the desktop display stopped working tonight.  Poor dh.  I certainly don't know how to fix it, and I really don't expect him to fix it (what a pain!!).   But he is making a valiant effort.  I am using the little $300 laptop I bought at the PX (store at work).  We'll see if the other will get with the program or will volunteer for the scrap pile.

Have a good evening!
