Good morning!

It's a good day as it's Inauguration Day.  I pray that it's a peaceful transition and those who don't accept the reality wake up and calm down.

Working my "bad week". Wed-Thurs-Sat-Sun.  So back to that grind.  Woke up at 4AM thinking it's close enough to wake up time and was wide awake.  I say the time and said "hell no" and tried to get another bit of sleep.  Early rising, rather than falling asleep seems to be my issue.  I wish there was a pill I could take when I do that to knock me out for an hour and wake me up refreshed.  LOL

My unit has been a bit slow lately as they keep our census down to use us to float.  Hope we're a little more full.  We have proper staffing for our unit, they just are so short elsewhere, particularly because the covid unit sucks up staff we need.  Bleh...same song different day.

Good Morning!

Tweety - Sleep. It's over-rated. LOL! (Would Ambien help, maybe???) Hope work is kind to you today, and that you don't have to float.

Had a really nice day, yesterday. Spent the morning video-recording a private grade school (pre-school up to 8th grade). Basically, it was a "walk around tour" showcasing the school-grade classrooms. There were four 8th graders that took turns "narrating" the tour. They did a great job! (They weren't shy at all!) Apparently this video will be used to promote the private Catholic school for the year 2021 to 2022. As soon as I'm done typing here, I'll start the editing process for this video. It's gonna take at least a week or two before it's finished. I have to run it past the Principle for any additional editing, and for her approval, before I can say that it's finished. (I'm going to need the correct spelling for each of the teachers, which I didn't get yesterday.)

Today is my last day (night) of my vacation/stay-cation. It was supposed to end Thursday, tomorrow! But. . . one of the night Shift Directors asked if I could work for her tomorrow night. Being the silly-stupid person that I can be sometimes, I said, "yes". (Blech!). Apparently, like most other hospitals of the world, work has been crazy-busy due to the pandemic. Work is gonna be what it's gonna be. (Blech!)

Nothing much else going on. Well. . . except for the Inauguration at noontime! THAT, I'll probably watch on TV, and celebrate that higher level of sanity that'll finally take place on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!

Peace, folks! 🙂

Tweety hope this week isn't too bad for you.  Have had that same issue

Ted good that you were able to take time off

BC that was nice

Dianah will keep you sister in prayer, hope you get some sleep

Hi Nj22 and Herring

Amo dad is doing well, no apparent deficits from the stroke

Stars hopefully Nannie can get some meds adjustements while inpatient

Work  was busy yesterday, more so in the afternoon than the morning.  Made me feel a bit better, I had been thinking things were a little slow and I needed to pick up the pace, but the pace picked up all on it's own.  Going to keep at my current pace

After work went for a walk, did some cross stitch, and exercised.  Had a strange burst of anxiety, which then faded as the evening wore on.  Didn't have any problems sleeping

Tonight have grocery shopping and Bible study after work

Snowed a bit last night, quite cold but will be a bit warmer as the week progresses

Just watched the inauguration.

Mostly liked the start of trying to work together for the sake of us all. Hoping most of us will try to listen to each other.

How about 22 year old Amanda Gorman, our nation's first Youth Poet Laureate, reciting "The Hill We Climb."?

Re: Amanda Gorman ... WOW! Tremendous roll of words pulled together so gracefully and meaningfully. Just WOW!!!!! Thanks for posting it, herring!

So... I gotta say: To God be the Glory!  It just so happened that one of Nannie's previous doctors, a woman that she attended church with, was on duty at the hospital for today and tomorrow. She's KNOWN Nannie for many, MANY years and has observed her mental slide downhill over those years. She went in to visit w/ Nannie, and called my hubby to ask if Nannie had ever been seen by a Neurologist. Nope, she hasn't. So, later when hubby called the nurse on Nannie's floor, he was told that they were waiting to have her transferred to the Adult Behavioral Unit. ( I wanted to type in MISbehavioral!) She will have a Neuro work-up, and then we will see what goes on from there. At the very least that means we will have another day (or two???) by ourselves here on the home-front!

Step-dgt is doing just fine, and grand-dgt is "just peachy" she says.

Going to ENJOY our peace and quiet while it is here.

Happy Inauguration Day!

Not gonna lie, I teared up during the swearings in. I know, I know, there is still a great deal of unrest in our country, but today I have hope that we can start digging ourselves out of this hole. Lady Gaga gave a magnificent performance, and yes, Amanda Gorman was inspiring. I could definitely hear echos of Maya Angelou in her poem.

I had a good run at the park after watching Biden's address, and then got a pedi after seeing a promo on Facebook for the salon I go to. I was the only customer there, so I think they are hurting for business. And the grocery store was nearly deserted, too. Laundry needs doing, and I'm going to try a new recipe for pork chops for dinner. And we are planning on watching the "Celebrating America" program on television tonight.

Stars, that is an interesting development in the saga of Nannie. I am glad you get a bit more of a reprieve.

stars - just letting you know, am still finding outdated pantry things. Like 2 boxes Stove Top Stuffin from 2016 and a box of rice from 2018. Some box cake mixes too, but they're not that old.

Found a box of tea bags, Bigelow Egg Nog flavor. Don't see where they make it any more, but tastes fine. Also found some Constant Comment ones - am starting to really like that one. One of you guys recommended it some time back and I just displaced the box. I have some other tea bags here & there also, don't know if I'd ever buy them again --- just using them up.

Re today's inauguration - I just believe the whole world is a little bit safer today. It would have been so much better for DJT to have been more gracious as he left office, but not surprising for him. I hope his future bodes well.

That damn mouse is still around making noises!!! Need traps from shopping service.

Thanks for the video.  I worked today and missed this amazing speech.

Hi everyone-

I caught bits and pieces of the inauguration between patients and at lunch.  I also got teary when both Biden and Harris were sworn in.  I am hopeful for healing in this country.  Amanda Gorman was incredible.  I'm watching the Celebrating America program now and enjoying it.

Stars-Woo hoo for some respite!  It will be interesting to see what the neurologist says after evaluating Nannie.

Amo-Constant Comment is my go-to tea.  I've been drinking it since I was about 10 years old.

Tweety-Hope the bad week isn't too bad.

Joe-Sorry to hear about the anxiety yesterday.  Glad it didn't affect your sleep.

J22-How is your hip feeling?  I'm assuming it's better since you're running.  Good for you!

Herring-I'm also hoping that decency and kindness make a return.

Sleep well, everyone.

BC, my hip feels great. I think instead of bursitis I had an inflamed tensor fascia latae, the muscle at the top of the IT band. After just a few days of stretching and rolling on a ball, the pain was almost completely gone. I’ve strengthened my glutes and have increased my running speed.

amoLu, I am convinced your pantry is at least 845 square feet with multiple shelves that not only slide one in front of another, but slide up to an attic and down into a lower bunker. I actually and truly did laugh out loud when I started to read your post!!! You are sumpin' else, y'knowit?

I watched today's inauguration in bits and pieces ... some in the news on TV, some on line ... I sat smiling and smiling, feeling proud and full of hope while I listened to Joe and Kamala; heck, even the woman who took over the job of talking to the press gave me goose-bumps.

Hubby growls and grumps and makes cynical remarks at whoever is saying what on the TV. So with my viewing, I took it all in, but in a way that I didn't have to listen to his grousing. It's kind of sad how terribly distrustful of hope he is. I just pray for him, as I am not into arguing or trying to convert someone's opinions. I'll discuss, but I dodge confrontation without being untrue to myself. My mother taught me acceptance. You can't change people to suit yourself. It isn't always easy, and I promise I am NOT subservient, but loving someone means giving them enough space to be themselves. That is one thing that hubby had to learn about me, that I expect the same in return, and over the years he's finally 'gotten' it.

Didn't mean to wax philosophical ...

Anyway, it was definitely a "YAAAAAAYYYY!" kind of day. 😊

stars - my 'pantry' is just the collective collection of cabinet shelves in the kitchen (and BR for health stuff). Also found a can of tomato puree (2016) that I'm tossing. And I need to check the date on the biggest box of instant mash potatoes first before I toss it. I have a problem determining quantity/size in American measurements. I like metrics better. Esp for fluids. I guess it's all the years of nsg that made me metrics-proficient.
