Good morning.

Stars, sorry to hear about some of the confusion your husband is happening.  I see it all the time, in ahem, the "older population" even if it's never happened to them before.  If it's not his baseline, he should snap out of it. We usually switch to milder Ultram or even Tylenol if they can tolerate some pain.    But be clear you want him relatively clear headed before he's discharged and you have a right to appeal an unsafe discharge.  But just give it time and it will clear up.  There are studies about this and there really isn't any clear cut answers to who, how and what about post-op delirium.

J22, I know what you mean about so much misinformation on Facebook (why aren't we friends???) and I try to only post things that are true and interesting, or make me rant.  (On the other hand maybe you don't want to friend me.). But posting about the cruelty of this disease is that people die alone with only phone calls to sooth them while I have a friend in isolation wasn't thoughtful.

Working today and tomorrow.  Woke up around 3:30 and the mind started and that was all the sleep I had, but I did fall asleep around 10pm.  Not sure what I'll be walking into but we're not hard hit with covid in this area yet, and we're hurting from lack of surgeries, so it still might be slow.

I hope everyone says safe, that Dianah's feeling better, and that you have a good day.

Morning Tweety

Work was kinda crazy, had to help out some others with getting calls made before the end of the month.  But it was a good day in general

Went for a walk and exercised.  Also decided to start out on a new sewing project, started cutting out patterns.  Had to order some new scissors as my current ones aren't up to the task

Anxiety flared up this morning for some reason, hoping it will settle down with a more normal work day

Grocery shopping tonight.

Warmer days ahead, by next week it could be nearly 70

Good Morning! 🙂

Forgot to post here, yesterday. Dang! I farted around everywhere else on the Internet, yesterday! L O L! 😛

Actually, I had a nice day, yesterday. I went to work and video-recorded an educational inservice for RNs on how to make adjustments to ventilators during emergent situations when the Respiratory Therapist is unable to make those adjustments. (This is a new policy that is only in effect under certain circumstances, in anticipation of our hospital managing really sick people from this pandemic.) What I want to make clear is that our teeny-tiny ICU hasn't seen a vented patient in years. Nearly 100% of the time, those patient's get transferred from our ER to our larger sister-hospital which has full-time Pulmonologists & Intensivists.  (Our hospital has no such physicians, unfortunately.) (Although we have the capability to do Tele-Medicine, such a service is not implemented yet.) Anyway, it was really cool doing the video-recording. I spent most of the evening, last night, editing the video and putting underscore music to it. (My favorite part of the video production process is creating the underscore music! 🙂 ) I sent the video to our hospital's Education Department, and our Respiratory Therapy Department. It's in their hands, now.

Today, it's sunny outside. But the temperature is cold.  Once it warms up a bit, Amy and I plan on going for a walk somewhere (practicing "Social Distancing", of course). I started composing a new piece. I hope to have it finished before I return to work Friday night. (Officially, I'm still on vacation.)

Gotta admit. . . going to my teeny-tiny hospital was very weird, yesterday, after being away for going on 2 weeks. The mood there was very somber. I was greeted at the front, door, asked the new questions associated with Covid-19, and given a mask to wear. There was an air of seriousness and concern (fear??) there that struck me. However, as mentioned above, it was nice doing the video project, working with my fellow ICU nurse and respiratory therapist.

Hope all are safe and sound, and keep safe and sound. Peace! 🙂

Ted

Here's another video that Amy and I did together a few days ago. It is quite silly. Enjoy! 😄

That IS fun and funny Ted! There is a problem "liking" it though.

Hi to Tweety and Joe, the rest of the trinity.

Beautiful sunny day here.

Yo.

Hubby has been moved to the Family Medicine floor at the hospital, so he must be somewhat improved for that to happen  He still has the chest-tube in, but he doesn't sound as crazy-bad as he did last night. He still feels pretty rugged; no surprise there, though. The worst thing is that his cellphone hasn't been charged, so the battery will be out-of-service shortly, and I am not allowed to bring the charger over there d/t THE VIRUS!

You folks that work in hospitals...does the patient have to have given a password to the nurses, so they will know it's okay to tell the caller (me!) some information over the phone? I didn't know what word he used, so I just told the nurse to go in his room and tell him to call his wife. Which he said okay to, but then didn't call. I tried his # twice more and then finally he answered. I was right about the password I had suspected he'd used, but did not call the nurse back and give her 4 or 5 options of what it might be, because I thought that might sound suspicious to her!

Almost 4 PM. I've got another load of laundry going. I did make my bed for the first time in three days. I did give Nannie a bath and change her pj's. I did play 20 questions with her about 20 times (so far). Right now she is taking a post-bath nap, and I am going to go up to the kitchen and get a start on cleaning the refrigerator!!!

And lest I get distracted again, I am posting this NOW! Prolly will be back laydah.

What a bizarro afternoon at work. On arrival, even though I purposely arrived an hour early I was assigned to ready paperwork and test vials for COVID testing. And the crazy one was next to me for 2 hours yammering on about I don't even know. We tested a number of community members via a drive-thru set up, but it was cold and windy, and I had to tap out about half way through. 1 1/2 hours in the cold wind in scrubs and a paper gown were too much for this girl. And we change gloves and use hand sanitizer between each person which really makes your hands cold. The crazy one stayed over to "help" but she keeps trying to re-invent the process and just makes an absolute mess. So I stayed an extra hour to straighten out her mess. And she just kept yammering on and on and on....

NSIME, that is good news that hubby is clearer mentally, but yeah, pleurodesis and chest tubes suck, both literally and figuratively. Good job on buffing and puffing Nannie.

Ted, my office is quite somber too. Our county numbers are increasing every day, sigh by ten to twenty each day, many of them in long term care and assisted living. Did you see the story about Ketchum, ID? It is the town near Sun Valley, and it has been hit hard by the virus. They have a small hospital like you where many of the ED docs were infected, as well as many of the are first responders. It made me think of your teeny tiny hospital.

Tweety, I hope your shift went well and you sleep better tonight.

Joe, good scissors make all the difference in cutting fabric, for sure. I hope your anxiety settles soon.

Peace

I did actually get the refrigerator cleaned out, all the dubious leftovers tossed, containers washed, the shelves themselves washed off, and things put back in neatly. TA-DA! Tomorrow I will put the containers away, so the cupboards are organized a little better than they are now; we'll see.

Yooo whoo . . . decided to check in on y'all.  😍

All is pretty well here in California related to the Corona Virus and Covid-19 cases.  Here in my county, we had 24 positive patients for a week and then added one more two days ago.  Two deaths. So far so good up here in the mountains with zero cases and zero deaths.  We are in the same county but rural and 1.5 hours from the bigger city.

Low census for hospice.

I get out and walk to the local waterfall 3-4 times a week.  Also take the dog for a walk.  And the last two days I've been doing major yard work, cleaning out flower beds, putting in mulch, mowing the lawn.

We all check on my mother-in-law at the ranch.  She's doing well, even with her Parkinson's diagnosis.

Spidey is of course disappointed in school being out as this is his senior year and his beloved baseball season is kaput after two games.  He's very busy working a couple of jobs though.  And yesterday he went kayaking with friends on a local creek.

That's about it.  Glad to read up on the good morning threads and see the old gang still here.  Hope you all are well.

Steph

It is good to read that you and family are OK.

Did you know you played an April Fool's joke on yourself? Today is two weeks after April 1st! 🤪

Oh dear . . . it's been awhile since I've been here!  It was the first thread up on the "What's New" page.

Oh well . . . maybe I'll copy and paste it on today's thread!
