Possibly, but this isn't the first off topic thread in this post. Plus, this isn't the school shooting thread.

To get back on topic. Another law suit has been filed against Dick's Sporting goods, this time in Michigan. From the Battle Creek Enquirer:
    [...]
Fulton, a Pennfield High School senior and son of Freedom Firearms co-owner Jared Fulton, filed a lawsuit against the retail giant in Oakland County Circuit Court on Tuesday for refusing to let him buy a shotgun because of his age.
    [...]
"I'm 18," Fulton said on Thursday. "I'm legally allowed to purchase a firearm, and I should have been allowed to.

"By denying me my right to purchase a firearm that day, they violated the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act," he added. [emphasis added]
The Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, Michigan's anti-discrimination statute specifically bans discrimination based upon age. From the preamble:
AN ACT to define civil rights; to prohibit discriminatory practices, policies, and customs in the exercise of those rights based upon religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, familial status, or marital status; to preserve the confidentiality of records regarding arrest, detention, or other disposition in which a conviction does not result; to prescribe the powers and duties of the civil rights commission and the department of civil rights; to provide remedies and penalties; to provide for fees; and to repeal certain acts and parts of acts.

I still think these folks are going to have a long, hard, slog to make their point.

But we will see how it all turns out. If I was one of these kids, I wouldn't hold my breathe.

Again, in Heller, the court decided that there wasn't an unfettered right to own a gun. So, if restrictions can be placed on gun ownership, how do you claim age discrimination?

I don't know the answer to that. It will be for the courts to decide.

I agree. However, I think this one stands a much batter chance of success, for two reasons. First, the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act specifically mentions and bans discrimination based on age. And second, and this is just my opinion as it wasn't mentioned, I'm sure that if the NRA isn't currently supporting this, they will be soon as they have already moved to file suit in Florida over this same issue.

Did anyone else notice that the Trump has now backed off of his tough talk on raising the minimum age for semiautomatic rifle purchase? He's proving that he is, indeed, a tool for the NRA.

He is the least principled man that I have ever experienced in our white house.

He is having Betsy Devos chair a commission to recommend further policy and funding proposals. After watching that train wreck of an interview on 60 minutes, I predict at least 10 more school shootings before that committee even meets.

I figured, when I heard the tough talk in his "listening session," and mocking Pat Toomey for being "afraid" of the NRA and bragging about how they don't have any control over him, that it wouldn't take long for the NRA to yank his leash and bring him back into line.

This is just one more in the series of incidents in which he has loudly, publically bragged about taking one position and then, when it actually counted, taken an entirely different position.

    What a horrible person.

Or he is listening to his base... You know, the people who voted for him. Just as many Democrats scream for DACA, because the people voting for them support DACA. Or are the Democrats afraid of the NILC?

Trying to start another fight over immigration? Really?

You've jumped the shark, kiddo. Don't look now, but you're not on reddit. It's back to the ignore list for you.
