    I have a "bathroom" book about the US presidents from George W to George W.

    I still haven't unpacked all of my books or I would share some of the odd, quirky, funny, and interesting stuff about these presidents.

    I am not saying he was the best president ever, but I sure am a fan of Jimmy Carter. I think he's a great person. He was just too much of an idealist.

    I love presidential trivia, too Tewdles. Many of the presidents have an "if not for" like Johnson. Those who did great things we remember now were not so good at others and were roundly criticized by their contemporaries. Even so I'll go with Lincoln, FDR and Teddy Roosevelt. Still can't help but wonder what JFK would've done had he had 5 more years to do it.

    "We choose to go to the moon, we choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard." You just don't hear that kind of talk very often among our elder statesmen and women.

    Lincoln was the best President IMO. He knew what it was like to battle his demons and get through hard times, and I think that's one of the things that made him great. He wasn't one of these pampered princes like we've had for so long. He knew right from wrong, and what was wrong in his mind, he had to make right. In fact, Honest Abe was the reason I joined the Republican Party when I first registered to vote. (I switched to the Democrats a short time later and stayed one for many years, then returned to the Republican fold during the 2008 elections.) I've always been fascinated by his life. and wonder sometimes if there would have been less bitterness between North and South during Reconstruction if he'd lived.

    And yes, I liked Ronald Reagan too. Voted for him twice, as a matter of fact, even though I was an avowed liberal at the time.
