    I hope someone points out to the legislators that allowing religious exemptions is a very broad brush. There are quite a few religions out there. This is not in keeping with patient centered care.

    A nurse who believes pigs are unclean could refuse to administer pork products or change dressings on xenografts. Administering blood products could seem sinful to some folks. Even caring for someone of the opposite sex could be opposed by some.

    While I am conservative, I would NEVER refuse to care for an LGTBQ pt. How crazy and mean is that. Actually, I think gays are all around some of the super nicest people EVER. If someone is that much against an LGTBQ individual they shouldn't even be in nursing, in my opinion. We signed up for this, taking care of all types of individuals, when we became a nurse and I'm sure the LGBTQ individual wouldn't even want such a person taking care of them and rightly so. Good grief.
