Did he invite any of his "very fine" friends from the white supremacy movement to join him at the event?

From Breitbart??? Talk about fake news.

    Try again, ItsyBitsy.

I am very impressed by the efforts put forth by the Russian troll to defend the indefensible.

But it can't be done! LOLOLOLOL.

Are you questioning the accuracy of the story, or the legitimacy of the source?

Are you suggesting that ItsyBitsy is a Russian troll? If not, what exactly are you saying? You might consider the following article White House hosts Black History Month event from another CNN:
    [...]
"Long before our nation righted the wrongs of slavery and segregation, African-Americans gave their hearts, their sweat, their blood and their very lives to defend the United States, its flag and its highest ideal," the President told guests in the State Room.

Trump specifically acknowledged Army Sgt. William Carney, who was the first African-American Medal of Honor recipient. Carney protected the American flag in battle during the Civil War.
    [...]
Are either of you suggesting suggesting CNN is either fake news for reporting the same story as Breitbart, or is a Russian troll?

If you are interested, you can read more on Sgt. Carney here Meet Sgt. William Carney: The first African-American Medal of Honor recipient.

I am questioning the source presented.

My real issue is that a president who has called white supremacists some "Very fine people" is now being held up as a supporter of Black History Month. Sorry, but I'm not buying it. He's a hypocrite. You don't get to play both sides.

I am suggesting that I don't know who Itsy Bitsy is. Do you, Chare?

This is a Web Site in which all posters are anonymous.

Do I believe Trump gives a crap about Black folks? Nope. He's proved time and time again that he doesn't. Because he read prepared comments during Black History Month doesn't change his behavior or comments from the past.

I am not buying what Itsy Bitsy is trying to sell.

Okay, recognizing a soldier from 144 years ago is good, but we all know how DJT idolizes the military that he never served in.

I think it would be wonderful he would recognize some contemporaneous black Americans as well, people who are standing against the inequality that continues in our country.

Well, we know that he is fan of Frederick Douglass, who is, apparently, a contemporaneous Black American ...

"Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who's done an amazing job and is getting recognized more and more, I notice."

The source says what every other article does, from other news sources. You would know that if you read it.

There were people at the event you are referencing, that were white, but not white supremacists. Some of those people included people from the groups, Black Lives Matter, Antifa, and various others who opposed the removal of statues, some of which were Trump supporters. But by all means, not ALL who opposed the removal of the statues were white supremacists.

If you are holding signs with swastikas and chanting anti-semitic phrases - those were not the people Trump was talking about when saying there were good people. Likewise, if you are chanting threats to cops, Trump also, was not calling those good people. Trump condemned violence and bigotry, which would denounce people calling for white nationalism, while also denouncing people attacking businesses and others solely because of political and personal beliefs, i.e. removal of historic statues.

Maybe you want to play this game, BC. But the topic is of no interest to me.
And to be sure, it is a game.

Maybe someone on this thread should ask the NAACP what they think of Trump's tribute to Black History Month.
We already know what John Lewis thinks of him.
