It appears as though Mr. Whitaker has connections to a FL company that was engaged in fraud.

Washington Post has article with details.

I can't imagine this guy will be around too long.

    Remember "only the best people"??

Gee, it turns out that "the best people" and "craven partisan hacks" are mutually exclusive sets. Who'da guessed that?

Well, well, according to CNN report, WH is concerned about bad press Mr. Whitaker is generating.

    They are surprised by it.

    Of course they are.

The folks left at the WH are clueless.

    No surprise.

It remains to be seen where this challenge will go. For every "expert" that believes this appointment to be legal, and consistent with the Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998, another one is quick to counter the claim. Regardless of the outcome in the Federal District Court for the District of Maryland, I suspect that this will quickly end up before the Supreme Court.

Can we agree that personal loyalty is important to Trump? It almost seems like it is the singular most important thing by which Trump measures his staff and appointee suitability. It seems relatively obvious that Trump choose Whitaker because he believes that Whitaker will do as Trump prefers relative to the Mueller investigation. Trump has always believed that his appointees should be loyal to him.

It seems almost Mafia-esque. You don't prove your loyalty, and you're figuratively dead to him.

We hope it's figurative -- we've seen how much admiration he has for despots around the globe who just literally kill the people who have disappointed or failed them ...
