Good morning!

Dianah, hope that you're sleeping well.  Congrats on passing the test cold.   I take valerian most nights along with melatonin and it doesn't really help.  Not sure why I continue to take it but I've taken it a long time now and it's just a habit I guess.  But might be worth a try.

Stars, glad the knee is doing better.  Hope the gypsies settle down for a bit.

I worked at McDonalds while I was in high school.  I've also worked at Wendy's and Pizza Hut post high school.  I worked as a clerk/typist for an insurance company for five years in Atlanta.  This was back in the days of electric typewriters and dictaphones.  We typed up reports and letters to big factories that were insured and inspected.  The Engineers would dictate on cassette tapes and we would listen to them and type what they said, controlling it with our foot.  I remember as I was leaving there was talk of going to computers.  Probably by now they just fill out a template and email it to the clients.  Finally got my act together and became a nurse 30 years ago.  Time flies.

The insomnia bug bit me starting around 3:30 and it's not because I'm not tired.  Finally just got up around 5:00AM.  Need to clean the house and go to yoga.  Going to meal prep as well.  I've been watching "Squid Game" while I cook.  Good show.

Finally we had a victorious night at bowling and did a clean sweep and defeated our opponents all games.  We're still in last place though.  LOL

Have a great day.

Tweety glad to hear that your team was victorious

Stars glad the knee is better

Hi Amo

Dianah it's a herbal medicine that is supposed to help you relax and sleep.  Not entirely sure if it works for me

Slept normally last night, whatever was bugging me the previous night was gone

Work was a bit slower too, did a few calls and some online education.  Did some calls for a new employee still in training, so she wouldn't have a lot of overdue stuff when she started

After work exercised and had Bible study

Today after work we have the church group dining out, this time at a local Mexican place

Temps remain in the 50s, although the rain has finally stopped

Good morning-

I've been pretty lax about posting here.  I get to work and the day gets away from me.  I'm working at home today.  We're having a Nor'easter storm.  Fortunately, it's just rain and not snow.  The winds were pretty high last night and woke me up.  It took a while to get back to sleep and then I overslept.  Fortunately, I only had to commute to the dining room so I wasn't late.  Not much else going on. Poppy is curled up on my lap sleeping.  It's a good thing she's tiny so she doesn't impede my typing on my lap top.  I could never reach over big boy Niko.

DD is out in LA visiting a friend, and texted me that there was a small earthquake on Sunday.  She said it woke her out of sleep, but there was no damage.  She was a little freaked out by it, having lived all her life on the East coast where we occasionally get tiny tremors that very few people notice.

Tweety-Sorry about the insomnia.  It's hard to find something that helps you sleep but doesn't leave you hungover.  Melatonin doesn't work well for me and valerian gives me a hangover.  I do ok with half a 50 mg trazodone.  Congrats on your bowling victories.

Joe-Enjoy dinner tonight.

Dianah-Did you feel the earthquake?  Hope you got all your continuing ed stuff done.  I got a chuckle at your prune inspector job.

Stars-Glad the knee is better, and I hope you and Nannie enjoy the World Series games.

Hi to j22 and Amo.  Have a great day!

Good morning. The weather is rainy and windy, but nothing too extreme. Many of the pretty leaves were blown off the trees in the last two days. My knee/calf continues to nag at me. And when I run the pain extending up into my hamstrings. Bah. I've been doing lots of gentle stretching and my version of cross fiber massage. I suppose I could consult a PT if it doesn't feel better soon. I'm going to see if I can get a flu shot and COVID booster today. dh is staying home because he didn't sleep last night. At the end of his day yesterday he had to deal with a customer who was angry about wearing a mask in stores. And the was real nasty about it and repeatedly called an employee a b***** and then denied he said it. Dh has a voice mail where the guy said it 6 times.

My first job was picking strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. And I weeded vegetables at a truck farm. Then "moved up" to KFC. I worked at a security agency where I worked nights monitoring business alarms and the radio with the security guards who drove around during the night. One of the security guards turned out to be a serial killer. He and his cousin were known as the Hillside Strangler.

Stars, good to read that the gypsies are calming down. Now don't over due!

Dianah, good job on the testing. Nothing like a pop quiz!

Enjoy the Mexican food, Joe. I love a good vegetarian burrito.

Hi Amo and Tweety.

BC, that's my kind of commute! I have a doggo snoring next me as I type.

But it's time for a walk.

How-DEEEEE!

Hubby says he didn't sleep much at all last night and asked if his coughing disturbed me. Nope, don't recall hearing a thing. I did get up at 5:30 AM and had a cup of coffee and a cold, leftover salmon patty. Went right back to sleep after that, and slept until noon.

Hubby is resting in bed after I dosed him with the (diabetic) Robitussin, to see if it would dry up his snoose-bistle (he c/o his sinus' draining whenever he lies down.) and 'quiet his cough center', as the commercial says. Said he would take it last night ... promised me! But did he? Nuh-uh. I said if this continues, he needs to call the PCP and get something to dry him and his cough up. Heck, it could be a little of his chronic bronchitis, or merely a common cold. But after having the fluid pulled off that left lung, now he is sore from all the coughing aggravating the area. COUGH-cough-cough-COUGH-COUGH!!!!!  It isn't like he needs to go to the emergency room or an urgent care center. He just has to call his doc and ask for a same-day appt or put his name on the call-if-any- cancellations-occur list. But will he? Whooooo knows! Not even the Shadow knows!  I would be on the doctor's office doorstep saying, "Fix it, fix it FIX IT!"

Nannie: "Will we be able to actually WATCH the ball game tonight?" I'd say since it is Game One of the World Series, and it is in the sports-page of the newspaper as happening at 8 PM tonight on the FOX network, it's very likely that we will be able to watch it. God willing and the creeks don't rise....

Speaking of which, we were supposed to get a honkin' BIG t-storm and rain last night. Nannie stayed up until 9:15 PM because the weather warning said oooooh, tornadoes possible between 6:15 and 8:15 PM. We did not get one single gust of wind, and had only a brief moment of a fine misting of rain falling. I said "Nannie, if something was going to happen, it already would have happened. It's an hour PAST the warning 'window' of time. Nothing happened and nothing is going to happen." She said, "Well, wake me up if it starts to storm bad, and pick up my bones if we get hit."   Goooooood grief! I told hubby we should start giving her the dog's Rescue Remedy to calm her down! Not that it would work on her; she is too busy worrying and convinced the "Worst Case Scenario" will occur. I asked her if she'd ever been in a terrible storm with terrible results and of course she had to say 'no'. But all storms are terrible to her.

[Anticipation, An-ticip-aa-aa-aa-tion!] Nannie is frequently in thrall to the mighty "MIGHT". What a way to live.

Okay, I'm not having any luck swatting this dern housefly that is pestering me, so I am vacating the den! Everyone but me is napping. I'm going outside to enjoy the sun and breeze and 70 degree weather.

Toodles!

I saw a meme that y'all up north just like saying "Nor'easter" for a rain or snowstorm.  But I know it's not "just a snowstorm" but "a snowstorm".

Joe, enjoy your dinner out.  Love Mexican.

It's 81 degrees out now but very muggy with 72% humidity.  Yuk.  Supposed to get much cooler later this week.  Maybe won't need the air conditioner.

We had a torrential rainstorm yesterday after I cleaned my gutters, so I hope it drained.

That was very thoughtful Stars!  "Elixir of the Gods" and it ain't prune juice.

Prune Inspector?

Doc has mentioned me trying Trazadone before if things continue. I know a few people have good luck with it.  It would be life changing to sleep good every night.  I managed to not take a nap so hopefully I'll be good and tired and sleep well.  Melatonin might help me fall asleep but doesn't keep me asleep.  Oh well, story of my life.

I have the gypsies.  This morning my right shoulder was bothering me and right now my shoulder is not bothering me but my left lower back is.  A few weeks ago after my vacation it was my right lower back.  Then there is my left knee that bothers me from time to time that was acting up last week, but last night at bowling it was my right knee.  My right hand where I thought I had trigger finger recovered about 80% but has been sore in the mornings for over a year now.  I sound like a crazy man and I'm really thinking it's all in my head.

J22, seriously?  People still harassing employees about masks?  I don't wear a mask but if it's required, no big deal.  How hard is that?

I turned down an invitation to a "Service Awards Banquet" at a private venue with entertainment.  I figure I'll wait and go next year when I have 30 years.  It's on my weekend to work anyway.

Go Braves!

Tweety - congrats on your bowling win. /// I don't sleep well either. How much valerian? Melatonin best helps me to FALL BACK TO SLEEP. /// Those gypsies seem are making the rounds, like Santa Clause on Cmas Eve. Have had a neck/shoulder ache, like where the dowager hump would be. And it started as I awoke. ///

Lost my remote early this AM; it's on a lasso but got stuck in my elec chair and I feared my ability to change position up/down.

Have to do one of my MOST disliked tasks to refill my mediset. I HATE IT.

j22 - my first real job (after the free samples) was secretarial/office/data entry (keypunching) in a computer office of a regional quarry operation.

Joe - glad the work experience is going smoothly.

Weather has been weird despite TV predictions. Shame for West Coast to get so much water that will just run off.

Tweety, Ozzie was on Trazadone for a while. He was!  He said (he did! I asked him!) that he thought it would be worth it for you to at least give it a try. Sleep is important and precious!

I wonder if none of us ever had to get up at a certain hour, if we would continue to have problems sleeping. As in ... go to bed when you want to, and get up whenever you want to ... no stress!   Yuh-huh.

I wake up and get up several times at night, but the lucky thing for me is I have no set time to get up. So I can go back to sleep easily. But, when I know I have to get up early by using the alarm clock, I don't sleep well.

9:47 PM---- Top of the 4th inning, score is Braves 5  to  Astros  Zero. Go Braves!

Hello all!

Nope, didn't feel the earthquake.

Love Mexican food!  Enjoy, Joe!

BC, good to see you!

Tweety, congrats on your wins!

amo, I remember dreading giving bedbaths, as a new nurse.  Then I sat myself down and asked WHY?  Cuz they seemed to take forever.  OK, so the next one I gave, I timed it.  Took LOTS less time than I'd thought.  So, humph!  Next time, clicked off the time in my head and --- DONE!  Never cowered again, thinking of giving one.  Same with refilling Medisets.  Snap your fingers and it's DONE!  (nowadays I dread cleaning litter boxes!  Dh took over most of the cleaning but I still dread doing it, though it only takes 10 min!!  lol!  Such games we play, in our minds!)  //  Did you retrieve your remote controller??

Stars, hope your dh's coughing lessens.  Maybe tonight he will take the anti-tussive???  Gypsies: BEGONE!!!!  (sending this to amo, too).

Busy day at work.  One fire after another.  Tomorrow I work in the Stress Lab, a different kind of busy. 🙂

Yesterday's day of predicted rain sure pooped out on us.  Barely got 1/2"  Very disappointed in Mother Nature.  Hoping for some rain in the next couple weeks, maybe.

Have a good evening!
