Good morning!

Dianah, so glad you got out to the jam and had a good time. I know you love that.  Sorry about the sleep issue.

Dealing with the IRS must be frustrating.  My bank account says I'm getting my stimulus check deposited tomorrow.  It's an odd number, 181 and some cents.   I had thought I wasn't getting anything.

The vet said what I already knew, that the girl dog Waffles' vision is deteriorating.  He's suspects there is retinal damage and that doing the cataract surgery isn't going to help but needs to take a closer look through some testing that would require a mild anesthesia.  He offered the option of doing nothing or doing the test.  I'll do the test so I won't have to wonder "what if we could have done surgery" because she's not that old.  This way I'll know for sure we did all we could to save her sight.  Slowbro is doing okay as well.  His glaucoma is under control and the eye swelling is better.

Bowling was a disaster for the team.  We lost all 7 points and got sent down to 7th place.  The other team was one fire.  I actually had my best game in many years but we even lost that game by a few points.  Meh...

Spent my stimulus money joining a record club.  They pick a vinyl record (which you can switch), mostly Indie music off the radar stuff and send it too you, along with some other goodies like maybe a signature from the artist.  It's a waste of money that I somewhat regret, but the music geek collector in me fell victim.

My retirement advisor called me yesterday to check in.  He's still working from home and no in-office visit but advised me to not make any changes if I'm comfortable with that.  He said my "since inception" (which is 2013 I believe) rate of return was the highest it's been, and that my "year to date" return was 4.something% which was good.  He expects the next year to be stable so I agreed to not make any changes, not that I would know what changes to make anyway.  I know him to be a good honest Christian man and trust his judgement as he's taken good care of my funds since 2013.

Have some chores to do today and need to decide if I'm going to yoga or to the gym.  Got up early without much sleep so I can sleep tonight in prep for work and get some stuff done today and might be too tired for yoga this afternoon but I need to do some movement.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Tweety here's hoping that the vet can come up with some solutions to help her vision

Glad you had a good birthday Dianah hope you sleep well tonight

Hi NJ22

Stars here's hoping you get that stuff straightened out with the stimulus check

Work was quite slow in the morning at work, and fairly quiet with the plumbing repairs too.  The afternoon was tricky, some last minute work thrown my way in addition to havin to work while they did repairs on the bathroom

Today should be the last day of repairs and all of the plumbing issues I have should be solved.

Did laundry after work as the plumbing work there is finally done.  Also exercised

Today will have an online meeting with the new interim minister, have been trying to schedule a meeting with him for a while.  The usual exercise and cross stitch after work

Snowed a bit yesterday, and was quite cold, in the 30.  Will get progressively warmer during the week

Good Morning -

Tweety - Sad to read about Waffles' vision. Poor thing. At least she has a loving father (you) to take care of her. It is good to read that your retirement plan is on track for you. Hopefully it'll mean you can retire when you wish to retire.

Joe - Good to read that your plumbing issues will be solved today. Hope that give you some peace of mind. 🙂

Yesterday. . . Spent most of the afternoon and evening in front of the computer working on music for Amy next two cooking videos. Although Amy now does most of the editing for her videos, I also put the "finishing touches" to them, as well as add the underscore music to them. The 2nd one, that I'm posting below, is quite silly. Amy directed me to be more spontaneous, and add some "chitter-chatter" in the background during the video-recording. So, I did just that! (A little bit, not too much!) LOL! The music, itself, is set low in the audio-mix, per Amy's instructions. That's fine, of course. The video is not about the music. But it did come out sounding really nice. It has an "Irish Jig" feel to it.

Also, yesterday, I went to the Dentists' Office so that he can look at my chipped tooth. To be honest, I've been anxious about this visit. My biggest fear was that he would recommend pulling out that tooth. Interestingly, he didn't even offer that as a choice. Instead, he offered two choices, 1) To put another filling around it (which could easily chip off again at some unexpected time), or 2) To put a Crown on the chipped tooth, which could last at least 15 years. I chose Option #2! Nothing else was done to the tooth, yesterday. Just a decision made.

Today?!? In a little bit, I leave for work. At 10:00 AM & 10:30AM, I have two video-recordings involving my "DON" (aka "Vice President of Operations"). Although she usually looks a bit "frumpy" to the camera (unkempt hair, clothing a bit crooked, etc.) she gives a thoughtful, encouraging speech. (She's really great for our teeny-tiny hospital!!) I'm happy to be of service, of course, with the video-recording thing. However, afterward, I'll be playing the role of Mr. Shift Director for the Evening Shift! The EVENING SHIFT! (WHINE!) I actually Hate working the Evening Shift . . . in any role, anywhere, for any job. I just don't like working evenings. There's no rational explanation to it. Anyway, I'll put on my "Big Boy Pants" and do the job as expected. (I'll just be whining deep inside. LOL! 😛 )

Tomorrow, I play the role of Mr. ICU Nurse, doing my regular 7PM-7AM shift. All will be right with the world tomorrow. LOL!

Nothing much else going on.

I'm sharing this video because it's a bit silly. I like being silly, and like how this video came out. The video feature's Amy's gluten-free Irish Stew. It's quite delicious! If you're interested in making it using the Instant Pot, just watch the video. At the very least, I hope it give you a good chuckle.

Peace, folks! 🙂

Ted

MUCH cooler today, with 80% chance of rain today and Thursday. BRRR! Loading up on the clothing layers. BRRRR!

So, re: IRS letter --- Called phone #'s, went on line, no resolutions because (#1) Phone message says 'high volume of calls". There's a surprise! What, they only have one person doing the phone answering? (#2.) I found nothing conclusive about the letter on the irs.gov URL, I just had even more questions and really, no way of finding out anything about possibility of scams, as there are so many scams going on, how do you know who/what to believe? (#3.)The letter says the IRS won't send any refunds w/o further info, but we are not owed a refund, just the 3rd stimulus check. Since we already got the 2nd stimulus check sent direct deposit, I fail to see WHY they need further info to make sure we aren't identity thieves. Seems like they would've wanted more info prior to sending the 2nd stimulus check.(#4) The letter ALSO says I have 30 days from the date on the letter to respond. They want a copy of the 1040 tax return for 2020, but I filed on line and there is no actual paper form, which I'm not convinced they actually need, anyway.

I will continue to call the IRS and listen to the message about the high volume of calls, but I'm not sending out any crucial #'s like SS, tax payer ID#, etc. The letter said they did receive the income tax return and they need my ID verification before they can process a refund, but we are owed NO refund, and they already processed the 2020 form anyway. It is CONFUSING and I am SUSPICIOUS!!! Sorry for all the repetition in this post, but as you can probably can tell.I just needed to VENT!

Ozzie is yelling at me, (my master's voice) so I'll stop here ----

PS: The letter also gives the option of sending back part of the letter where you can write an explanation or inquiry, but they give no envelope in which to do so, although they DO advise making sure the IRS address shows through the envelopes window. And on the envelope they sent the letter in , there IS a 'window', but there is no return address in the upper left corner; it just says "Official Business"and under that it says "Penalty for Private Use, $300" so you sure as heck can't use the envelope the letter was sent in, to return anything. Ppffftttt!!!!!🤯

Gosh Stars, I would be suspicious too. I sort of gave up calling yesterday. I don't even get a message about high volume of calls, I just get "Sorry your call can not be completed. Please try again later. " I was prepared to sit on hold for a while, as I do this all the time at work, but they don't even give me a chance to get in the queue.

Tweety, I didn't think we were getting a check either, due to a bonus that dh earned last year, but I see we have a pending deposit as well. I kinda don't want to let dh know, because he will want to spend it pronto plus some. And yes, you are a wonderful dog parent.

Joe, hurray for completed plumbing! Snow again!? Yuck. I am guessing that we are done with that nonsense for the year, although it is rather cool today, only in the 40s, and partly sunny.

I ran some errands: dog food purchase, groceries, and tried a new Starbucks drink: Iced Chocolate oatmilk blonde espresso. I prefer hot drinks, but this was a nice change. Now I am going to ride my bike down to the pharmacy to see if they have my prescription ready. I am going to plant some more seeds when I get back. And its trivia night!

Glad to hear about your jammin' Dianah. I know every time I get to do something that seems more normal, it just gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Hi Amo, BC and Herring.

Hello all!

Sad to hear about the difficulty getting through with IRS calls.  Sometimes I will check the internet to see if there are reported scams (I enter the particular information and just search, as an FYI).

I made slow-cooked pinto beans in the crock-pot last night.  Seasoned with jalapeno, onion, garlic, cumin, a little red pepper.  I am looking forward to having them tonight with tacos.  I bought tomatoes, green onions, red cabbage, and olives.  Will mix all that with some shredded cheddar and some veggie-crumbles.  Argggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!  Forgot to get fresh cilantro, my favorite!!  Oh well!

Mountains look lovely with all the snow.  It will be gone in a couple weeks, though, unless we get another storm.

I slept well last night and hope to sleep well again tonight!

Have a good evening!

dianah, I was all over the internet sites for IRS and about IRS scams, and could not reach any conclusion but this one: if our #3 stimulus check is in our acct on Wednesday AM, I'll know the letter I rec'd was either a very confused IRS computer or it was a sneaky scammer. So, tomorrow will tell. 😅

Let's see if I can get this right: Nope, can't do it. So, just pretend that the following 3 rows DON'T have a space between them, in other words, they each abut the other, vertically. Got that? So, that is what it looks like, looking down into Nannie's bathroom wastebasket at the end of a day. Each 'coil' below resembles a used incontinence pad, rolled up and placed on it's side, 'just so' by her. She  even 'decorates' with her pads!
