Good morning!

J22, right now at 6:22 AM it's 77 degrees with 88% humidity here.  You sweat walking out to check the mail.

I have a four hour computer training today.  Forgot to set my alarm and woke up 45 minutes after I wanted to, but the class is at 7:00 so I have time but need to rush on.

There was a possibility I was to work because the charge nurse working today is sick but they couldn't reschedule my computer class and it's mandatory.  Another coworker agree to work.

The coworker that is sick is one maybe three coworkers that didn't get vaccinated and she has covid.  Bad decision and that's all I'll say about that.

Tweety 4 hour training, ugh, but at least you didn't have to work

Ted between flooding, puppy issues, and work I can see why you're experiencing stress.  Glad you and Amy have been discussing these issues

Amo I hope the heat eases up

NJ22 up at 6am to run, you have more motivation than me

Stars glad he's feeling better, but unfortunate that he doesn't think he needs help now

Yesterday was fairly good, got some additional calls made.  If I can make a few more extra calls today I won't have to do any weekend work.  Even had a little time at the end of the day for online education

Very calm after work, just relaxed and read a bit before exercise and embroidery.  Have been working harder to be mindful

Today should be a fairly ordinary day

Think temps will rise a bit today, up to the 80s.  Will alternate between warmer and cooler days the next week, with the possbillity fo seeing more rain

Have a dumb ole' horsefly flitting around. It is moving sooo sloooow that I think I can see its wings vibrate!!! But is it slow enough for me to whack it!?

Locally nearby, we got hit with monsoonal rains. One TV station identified it as a classic 100 year rain. I live just a mile or so from the Delaware River. Communities just over the river got 7, 8,10+ inches rain in just a few hours. Like just little pockets opened up & just stayed there raining. We don't get that kind of rain!! Wish there were some way the West Coast could have rec'd some of that rain. Will remain hot & muggy for the week.

Do any of you ladies remember 'pearl pop-it beads' from childhood?? Caught a few minutes of a home jewelry show showing pearls - flashback! I used to think those pop-it beads were so pretty.

Good Afternoon everybody~ Once again we are hazy, hot, and humid. I had a portion of a song I was going to add here, but decided that maybe y'all wouldn't appreciate an 'ear-worm' today!

amoLu, I listened to your voicemail on my phone around midnight or so, last night. You can call me any time after 12 noon (because I go to sleep so late, I sleep late), pretty much any day it suits you. I promise I will have my phone turned on and in my pocket. I guess when you called, my phone was buried in my purse upstairs while I was down in the den watching TV. Hubby complains I am bad about turning my phone ON, and often don't have it near me or on me. I said, "Well, hardly anybody calls me except for the Firefighter's Assoc, for a donation", (--- or if I have a pending appt that whatever office it is gives me a reminder call.) Anyway, the voicemail didn't give an option to call back, and it didn't display your number. Of course, I wouldn't have called you back that late at night...and I think I have your # written down somewhere, but I'm unable to locate it. Not sure how your daily schedule runs, so you call me. Okay? Okay! And I'll remind you what my 'real' name is when I talk w/ you! But it would be okay if you called me "Stars" if you forgot my day-to-day identity, 'cause I know that's ME!

We had a humdinger of a brief thunderstorm last night, and Ozzie slept through it. Then, when it was over with, he woke up, lifted his head, sniffed the air and smelled the rain, so that's when he began shaking. I took him out to the front porch so he could see it was no longer raining, and he stopped shaking. Got him to pee, and then brought him back upstairs and back to sleep.

The All-Stars baseball game is supposed to be tonight at 8 PM, but hubby and I have decided not to mention that to Nannie, because that's usually about the time she trundles off to bed. She doesn't need to see all the various members of the NL and the AL playing each other, 'cause she will become confused as to where 'her' team and players are and why they aren't all playing a 'regular' game. Mean kids, aren't we? (Nope!)

Brief Nature Snapshot: We saw an anole (skink) a little while ago, resting on the porch railing.....it had a leg of something sticking out of it's mouth. A few moments later, it gulped in the last of the leg and rested, digesting, I guess. Maybe ate another little lizard? Who knows!

Tweety, Computer training and CEU's....ICK, BLECH, YUCK! So happy *I* do not have to deal with all that!!! Sorry that you still have to!

Hey Joe and others who follow... I may be back later on to check in on y'all, or if something comes up worth relating...

Hope y'all have a good'n today!

amoLu, just read your post that you sneaked in here while I was typing my post. If you read this, you can go ahead and call me. I may go out to my car to sit in the AC, so I can talk without Big-Ears Nannie trying to listen in. She is a wicked eaves-dropper!

I am sitting in my office, hiding from very nice, OCD co-worker who is buzzing around, because we have a new TB case. There is not a lot I can do right now, because the pt was transferred to a Seattle Hospital last week, and I don't have easy access to records. But that doesn't stop her from urging me to call to see what meds they have him on, and what other treatment he is getting, and what labs have they done. And she certainly isn't going to make any calls because she is soooooo busy. So now, I am wolfing down a left-over half burrito while I strategize where to start.

The weather here is quite mild, about 70 with a light breeze. There are no fires close by, but the sky is getting hazy.

I remember pop-it beads, but I don't remember having any.

Okay lunch done, back to the grind.

Another flashback - those candy bead/disk necklaces & bracelets. And the chewing gum 'cigars' and 'cigarettes in the box'.

Also those little misshapen 'gold nuggets' in a little drawstring pouch. It was a chewing gum too.

The post office that was down the causeway and in the South part of my hometown...had a large glass case from which they sold penny-candy....all those things you mentioned above ....plus wax lips and teeth, and cloying sweet syrup in little wax bottle-shaped containers, and the dabs of pastel 'candies' that dotted a long piece of paper (quite blah tasting; we called them "pills".)

We'd get a nickel or even better, a dime, and ride our bikes there and come back with a sackful of stuff. Root-Beer Barrels, and Mary-Janes, those puffy soft orange-colored 'peanuts', etc, etc.! Back when you could get your money's-worth for a dime!

If you search Amazon, you can find all kinds of old-timey candies, like Zero bars.

You called those candies 'pills', we called them 'dots'. Mary-Janes are easily avail for me.

stars - I meant to ask. When is Nan's birthday?

I don't remember being given money for candy. The little general store was about a mile away, but we lived on a highway so we weren't allowed to walk there. I remember some of that candy from Halloween. And we would occasionally be allowed to pick out spearmint gum on trips to the grocery store. But we had lots of treats in the summer: fresh berries and raw veggies from the garden. I still love picking and eating green beans from the vine.

Yep we would ride our bikes to the store a mile or so up the road with just a quarter and get stuff.  A quarter would go far.  LOL

At lunchtime, we had a candy-stand setup at my grammar Catholic school (1960s ish). On Fridays, it was soft pretzel day. Philadelphia soft pretzels way back then. Best day!
