Good Morning!

That's too bad that businesses can't operate at capacity due to worker shortage.  This can't be good for the economy of small businesses.  Hope J gets a flight home in a timely manner.

Stars, hope you get the KIA back today.  Keeping a good sleep schedule is tough. Weird about things being underlined.  Google might help with that.

J22, that local senator made the news.  Sad situation.  Sorry your PT was canceled.

I alternated between a few chores and the gym, and doing much of nothing.

Apparently the nurse out with covid decided after 11:00 pm she couldn't come back after her 5 days because she's still coughing so I'm going in to cover.  It's annoying that she called in so late and had the manager texting me that late.  I didn't answer because it was too late but decided I was going in to help this morning.  I called the floor and will text the manager here in a few.  Problem was I had my usual insomnia and it's going to be a bit rough.   She might give me Thursday off instead.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Tweety that was nice you're going to help out like that.  Hope you get Thursday off

Stars glad you'll be getting the Kia back today

NJ22 sorry to hear about the mess at work

Was nice having yesterday off.  Did not go out bird watching as it was too cold.  Went out for coffee, stopped at the grocery store, did some baking, then met dad for lunch.  Came home and did more baking.  Was planning to bake next weekend but realized I would probably be too busy to do so.  Exercised  and had online Bible study last night.

J's return flight was yesterday, since I haven't heard from him he must have gotten home OK with no more delays.

Back to work today,  hoping things won't be crazy.   They probably won't be.

Will be warmer today, in the mid 30s, no more snow expected

Good morning,

Yes, Tweety, good for you for helping out. I do hope you get another day off.  Its probably best if someone coughing doesn't work. Hopefully it will go smooth.

I agree, Joe, too cold to go out bird watching. With dh's feeders, I see many birds from our window, but I like to go near the water and try to identify the different water fowl. One day last week a bald eagle flew over our back yard, which was a surprise to see one so low. When the sun hits those white head feathers they practically glow!

Stars, I hope your Kia is home soon! Perhaps nannie's car could get a tune up? I wonder if just changing the air filter might help? I know newer cars are so complicated with computers and all. Back in the day a new air filter and some gas dryer would do wonders.

BC, good thing your pup doesn't mind baths! Dd's dog was quite the jumper-upper when she was a pup. She is a lab-shepherd mix and liked to give nose boops, that really hurt! She really is a sweet thing, just exuberant.

Hi Dianah and Amo!

I emailed my provider last night to ask about next steps about leg pain and the nurse replied advising an office visit. So I called this morning and am going in at noon! I fully expected to wait a couple of weeks, so fingers crossed there is a plan. I will tell you one thing, my triceps are getting toned from doing all these prone press ups!

LOOK MA! NO underlines!

Good Sunny but COLD afternoon here!

3 PM Still waiting to hear that they got my car done. When hubby spoke with them earlier, they said "the technician got behind" with the car he was working on previously, and supposedly we're next and SHOULD get the KIA back before their 7 PM closing time. Hhmmmpphhhh!

I wasn't so successful at turning my light out at 1 AM; it was more like 1:50 AM. That book OUTLANDER is good, and hard to put down. But I DID sleep very well (with the usual 2x up: once for my bladder and then later, Ozzie's bladder). Anyway, I think I slept about 8 hours. Then Ozzie harassed me because he wanted to eat, so there was nothing for it but to get up and take care of that.

Another large branch came out of a tree last night while it was windy, it was large-ish but pretty much rotted, so it was easy to move over to the wooded section next to us. Nannie, naturally fretting, said, "We could have really been hurt by that." (It was 25+ feet away from the back door.) When I picked up one end of the largest branch it broke in two, however there we two smaller branches that fell straight down and went 6" into the soft dirt. I think they need to have a tree service in to get rid of the damn thing, (Damocles sword?) but MiL and hubby say the tree 'is not on our property.' If it isn't, they need to talk to the people on whose property-line it grows. The largest portion of the tree leans over and the top branches hang over the back yard and part of our house. Nice to have the shade, but if the whole tree came down, there goes the northern corner of the house. Why on earth they can't talk to the neighbor who owns the property, I have no idea. I have offered to go over there and talk to them, but they said, "Oh, no,no,no." Well, I guess it will end up in court (or worse) if something happens. I think if they were wise, they'd check on the property line downtown at....whatever office....and THEN talk to the neighbor. To me, being proactive on this matter would save a lot of trouble and money, but oh well. You can lead a horse to water....(Grrrrr!)

Another "Grrrr!": Hubby called KIA again and they are "aiming for it being ready by 5 PM." I hope their aim is TRUE (!)-------------> I WANT MY CAR BACK! I do not care if they "had to take the manifold off" to replace the starter. Can you hear me playing a teeny-tiny violin in sympathy? Since it's a Big-Brand Dealership  they should have already KNOWN that the manifold removal would be necessary. As my Grampa used to say, "Keeee-ripes!"

Yesterday afternoon I dug out my winter boots (nothing fashionable) ...just some cheap, klunky old Walmart boots: 10 medium, which are too big and too wide for my 9 & 1/2 narrow feet. I filled the boot up with several insoles and arch-supports just so they felt better, HOWEVER, my left knee did NOT react well to walking, even just around the house, wearing a different footwear shape. I had to wear them last night after supper because they are the only things I have that would keep my toes and ankles from feeling so cold (yes, while indoors). Anyway, live and learn, and adapt some more!

Blah-dee-blah-blah, and more of the same.

Tweety, You should arrive at work wearing six stick-on gold stars across your forehead for being so good as to help them out AGAIN!

j22, One would be right in thinking a good tune-up and diagnostic would help Nannie's Ford (and us, too) run better and more reliably. I cannot for the life of me figure out WHY it was not done a year or more ago. It's still her car, under her name, and she can afford to pay for it (I think), but hubby has this thing about 'not spending all of Momma's money'. Even if it was only a couple of hundred dollars, that's not too much. Hubby should at least get a  mechanic to look at it and give us an estimate. Personally I think better NOW than later, but I ain't in charge of that, sooooooo.... "OH WELL!", eh?

Hey BCg, amoLu, and dianah!

5 PM, Hubby called and said he has picked up the car (w00t!) and will be stopping to get our supper on the way home.

Didn't win Power-Ball, but there is another drawing Wednesday; the tickets only cost two bucks apiece, so it won't hurt our so-called 'budget' to pick up a couple more tickets tomorrow. I mean, sure the odds are something stupendous, but for a chance at 553 million, four dollars is a small amount to pay.

When I was YOUNG I won several contests...when the new (and only) drugstore opened in our town, I won a hula-hoop and tickets to a double-showing at the drive-in movie. (We saw "Trapeze" and "Night of the Hunter".) I also won $50 from Ingle's grocery store PIRATES game (I got all 4 pirate stamps). I won two dinners at a nice restaurant at my 10 year High School Reunion. And a $10 gift certificate for Amazon, via a PCH entry, which I could not spend because there was nothing for just ten bucks that also didn't include the taxes. I did end up using it several years later as Amazon still had me on record as having $10 credit with them, even tho I had never purchased anything through Amazon.

Eeeenywayz, that's all for now......

I'm COLD!!!! Hate this cold weather. Our southern Jersey shore got blitzed. Like some 11 inches or so near Atlantic City. But only a dusting as one went west, up to Philly.

I'm trying to wear a HAT indoors. Not that inside my place is unnaturally cold; just me. And am looking to buy some kind of poncho/drape/shawl to wear with my already sweater. I'm just COLD!!!!

Do NOT like being cold!  Neither does dh.  House is usually too warm for me but he feels the cold differently than I, so it remains warm.

A couple years ago while at a little mountain lake nearby, we watched a bald eagle fishing, and it was a wonder to behold!  We were in raptures! So, to see others of them at the water, nursej22 and Joe, -- along with all the other species of birds!  How exciting!

Tweety, hope your shift was smooth!  It was good of you to help (they didn't offer to pay you $1000, did they???  Well, maybe Thurs off is an OK trade...).

No Stars, YAY, you got the Kia back!  And dinner to boot!  Is there only one Outlander book, or is it a series?

nursej22, what is the verdict after your MD visit today???

BC, love to hear about Remy's Adventures!

Last night I made a Lentil Stew.  Well, it always starts out in my mind as Lentil Soup, but seems to get thicker and thicker and ends up stew!  I sauteed onions and a  little garlic, and mushrooms, and celery and carrots, then added chopped cabbage and potatoes, and some vegetable broth and some lentils.  S&P, and some parsley flakes, and dried red pepper (a few sprinkles).  It turned out pretty good!  I am looking forward to having some tonight.  Dh will finish his prime rib.

No burros at the park (though they are still spotted in the neighborhood, in ppl's yards, re-landscaping and donating fertilizer 😉 ).  No rain forecast for the next two weeks, either.

Not much else planned tonight.  Have a good evening!

Hi-

I'm last to the party today.  Tuesday is my work from home telemedicine day, but I had to go into the office to cover for another provider.  She had to leave because her son's teacher tested positive, and they have so many teachers out with Covid that they had no one to cover his class.  So she had to pick him up and "see" the rest of her pts. by phone.  I will cover her tomorrow and work in a different office than usual.

It's pretty dang cold here, too.  I don't think it made it out of the teens today.  I'm not a fan of cold weather.  I'll take summer over winter any day.  Remy seems to like the cold.  I guess all that hair keeps him warm.

Tweety-That was nice of you to help out.  I hope the day wasn't too rough.

Joe-What did you bake?  I hope J got back safely.

J22-How did you make out at your appointment today?

NSIME-Is the car running ok now?  DH got a couple of Powerball tickets today.  I hope we both win!

Dianah-The lentil soup/stew sounds good.  I hope the burros don't re-arrange your landscaping.

Amo-Stay warm!  I bet you can find some kind of poncho or wrap on line.

Time to get ready for bed.  I hope we all sleep well tonight.

dianah, If I could get you to send me stew, and Joe to send me some of his bread....well, all I can say is MMmmmmmm, it sounds like goooood eating!

My friend got me 4 books in the series:  OUTLANDER, DRAGONFLY IN AMBER, VOYAGER, and DRUMS OF AUTUMN, all part of a series, and I think, in that order. FAAAABulous! I can see how someone would enjoy seeing it on TV. She was going to send me the CD's but I said I preferred to read. I'm not sure if there are more in this series, but the author is Diana Gabaldon and there are more titles listed on the page w/ these four.  -----Go for it!
