Good morning!

Stars, hope all ends well with the Nannie situation and that nothing serious comes out of her ER visit.

Ted, I loved the video!  You guys look great.

Herring, thanks for the link about Highlander.

I stayed up late and didn't sleep all that good because I took a nap yesterday, but felt the need to.  Had an uneventful day off.  Made a nice white bean and roasted fennel soup.  Have some chores to do today and scheduled a yoga class.  I missed  the last yoga class  I signed up for because of a traffic jam.

I heard from a student yesterday that I'm her preceptor.  That was news to me.  She starts in a couple of weeks but wanted my schedule.    I haven't had a student in a few years because I normally do charge.  But I suppose since I always have a full load it's okay.

Tweety that soup sounds good, hope you get some sleep

Ted thanks for sharing the video

Herring hope you feel better

Hi Amo

Stars hope you don't get a too early call from the ER

Got yet more work this week.  Technically it's supposed to be at least begun before the end of the month, but given how much work there is it isnt' going to happen.  The first half is going to be hard to get done on time, the 2nd half is impossible.  So I"m going to get that 2nd half done next month and not worry about it.  Surely management knows how bad it is

Was rather stressed early in the day but things were better by the end, and not too crazy

After work exercised and had the final session with the counselor on Zoom.  Was fairly brief as the depression and insomnia has lifted

Today will hopefully be the same at work, not too crazy.  Will do the usual exercise and cross stitch after work

Weather continues to be cold, a little more snow expected.  Have had very little snow so far this year

Hey-

How is everyone today?  Not much going on here.  Today at work I got a lovely picture and card from an 6 year old patient I saw last week.  She told me I was kind and I am taking good care of her.  It made me smile, and it made my eyeballs sweat a little, lol.  It's the little things like this that make my day.

Tweety-Not nice that you weren't informed about the student.  Do you like precepting?  Hopefully you won't have to do charge at the same time.

Joe-I'm happy your insomnia and depression are better.

Stars-Hope things worked out with Nannie.

Hi to Ted, Amo, J22, Rose, Dianah.

Hope everyone has a good day today.

Good Afternoon!

So, hubby got a call last 'night' at 12:30 AM. It was the ER doc wanting to know about Nannie's behaviors and meds.

Then we went to sleep.

A call at 9 AM and another doc told hubby that Nannie would "probably not be discharged today" ...they are going to try her on a medicine that is supposed to help her cognizance ... I don't have a heck of a lot of confidence about that being a help for her ... I have had other patients put on some meds that were supposed to do the same and never really noticed any difference in them; maybe they have something new by now that will help. Who knows?

At any rate, we are enjoying a very quiet day!!! We will soak up as much respite as we can in whatever time we get to do so.

I get to go w/ hubby to get my hair trimmed; he has an appt for his hair and Nannie had one for her hair, but she ain't a'gonna make it, so I will take her slot.

Toodles!

Ugh.  Didn't fall asleep till 5am.  Called out sick rather than work sleep-deprived.

Quiet weekend.  Read some.  Did all my 30 CEUs in prep for upcoming license renewal.  Started a binge-watch then realized it wasn't my cuppa so just turned it off and watched Westerns.

Found out some friends have Covid.  They are home for now.  My prayer list is growing.  There seems to be so much going on.

Last weekend my sister (2 yr older than I, and lives about 500miles from us) called to fill me in: she is in the middle of treatments (radiation and chemo) for small cell lung CA.  It is rough on her, for many reasons.  She has patches on, attempting to quit a lifetime of smoking.  She lives alone but a friend is helping with meals and transportation.  She is pretty overwhelmed right now.  They have paused her treatments briefly (she has three weeks to go).  Please remember her in your prayers/thoughts.  I appreciate it.

Might go lie down and/or read.

Thank you for your updates (No Stars, I'm sure you are enjoying your respite!).

(((Dianah))) you have a lot on your mind.  Hope you sleep better tonight.

Joe, glad the depression and insomnia has lifted.  Hope today isn't too crazy.

Stars, enjoy the respite.  I remember how when they fine tuned some things with her she got better, so maybe she just needs another tune up.  Good that they recognized that.  But they can't really make a person with dementia better, but who knows if they can slow it down some so you wouldn't notice a difference.  I suppose her work up for the shortness of breath was negative?

BC, that is so sweet.  I love hearing good things from patients.  I don't mind being a preceptor and yes I will be in charge, taking  patients and precepting.

I had a decent day alone cooking, cleaning, a grocery store run and some laundry.   Fells asleep for about 20 minutes but it shouldn't ruin my sleep tonight...I hope.

1 in 14 people in my zip code have or have had covid.  Crazy.

My employer sent out an email they are raising their minimum was to $15 an hour years ahead of a voter mandated raise to $15 an hour by 2026.  Their minimum is $11 now (somewhat above Florida's minimum of $8.56 and hour).  This company seems more employee focused and generous that the prior for-profit owners.

Hi. Not much going on here. The sun is peeking out. I went for a short bike ride, my first since Christmas. I went out by the bay, but couldn't go all the way around due to construction. I saw some cool ducks on the water and exchanged lots of hellos with folks out walking, many with dogs. Dh is still working from home and I miss my quiet. He has the TV on "for background noise" while he is wearing headphones to conduct phone calls and online meetings. So I am on my bed with my lap top. I am supposed to work 4 hours tomorrow afternoon, but am taking that off. In messaging with the crazy one who is my job share to make sure that would work, she told me she is resigning effective in June. And they don't want to fill the job share, so I guess I will be compelled to work full-time. Oh well, I plan to retire next May, and I can do anything for a year, I guess.

Oh Dianah, I am so sorry about your sister. Sending you and her healing thoughts.

Stars, enjoy your little respite. I think AmoLucia has a point about her striking out at Ozzie and I think that is equivalent at striking at you and hubby.  I'll bet she got hostile at the hospital.

BC, that is so sweet about your patient. Go ahead and sweat those eyeballs. We all need some positives in our lives.

Tweety, precepting is a bit responsibility , on top of a full patient load and charge. Maybe the preceptee can help answer the phone. I know will will let the powers that be if it becomes too much.

Hi Ted, I enjoyed your video. Did the mailbox work out?

Joe, I think just letting the work wait is a healthy attitude. Sometimes management just needs to hear "No."

HI Amo, Rose and Herring.

Tweety - your soup sounds sooooo good!!! I want some, but I guess that Fl is a bit too far to travel to beg some! So I'm planning to make my own this weekend; need to order the fennel from my shop-from-home service Saturday.

Dianah - prayers & good wishes for your sister from one still recovering.

Joe - how's your Dad? I thought of him because I have to test my my fall alert necklace and am just waiting for another person to be nearby when I run the test. Don't want to trigger the fiasco like I did last month.

LOTTO FEVER grows in these parts around here.  There's 2 lotteries going off - tomorrow one for $865+ million and one Wednesday for some $650 or so million.

Ditto from me as well!

SO! Updates:

R'cd a recorded phone-call at 8 AM that said Nannie's COVID test is negative. Got another call at 9 AM from a doc at the hosp. who said he didn't think she'd be discharged today. Call late this afternoon saying they are treating Nannie for a UTI (no chit chakespeare! It's about time!) ... no surprise, but good for them for getting a spec from her... I have told every doc all along these many months that it would be impossible to get a clean catch from her and she needed to be cathed for a spec. One doc gave us a hat for the commode, but yeah,  I said, YOU just try to get that woman to spread her thighs! Maybe that and her new med (whatever it is) will make a difference in her behavior. We don't know any discharge plan/date.

This day has been a most lovely day! 😊

Oh, I forgot to tell you that before I actually woke up this AM, I was aware that my L knee was really bothering me, and decided that I would call in sick to work, so it wouldn't get any worse. Having decided that, I felt better, and I went back into a deep sleep.

Call in sick! HAH!

stars' post reminded me so I just wanted to mention this. I was watching something on TV yesterday and saw one of those female urinary PurWik incontinence systems in use on a hospitalized pt.

I think it was a 600 lb Dr Now show, but I recognized that spongey thing the nurses was holding and then there was the wall suction unit too. They sell that thing for private home use, but it is EXPENSIVE (and then needs someone to manage the suctions/waste disposal).
