Morning

Fairly quiet day at work, got a questionnaire done with my very first call, was smooth sailing after that

Ran some errands and exercised.  Have been getting ready to start on my new embroidery kit.  Should be interesting

Today should be a fairly ordinary day.  Need to take my ring in to be resized, have bee meaning to do so for several weeks

Will be in the 40s today.  Will get colder tomorrow I think, only in the 20s

Good Morning!

I survived 3 12's in a row and now off until Friday.  Yesterday, I took four post op admissions back to back.  Squeezed in a lunch, but stayed late to nearly nine finishing up my charting and some charge nurse stuff.

Slept in today.  Going to the dentist for my six-months check up and cleaning.   Not a task I enjoy at all, because a good deal of the time they find something wrong that needs fixing.

My days working it was unseasonably warm and sunny in the 80's.  Today is more seasonable, Siri says "not nice right now but will be later" but only a high of 70.  Humph

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning!

Joe - Hope your day remains "ordinary". I like "ordinary" work days.

Got home from work a little while ago. Work was a nice steady-busy. Not crazy-busy as it has been of late. Happily, I won't return to the ICU until next Monday. With the exception of Friday, when I have to into work to learn the new upgraded charting system, I'm off from work. Today, Amy and I plan a "Dinner and a Movie Date" together. Looking forward to that.

During the next few days off from work, I'm going to try and focus on writing and recording (sequencing) one or two compositions.  (One, I started several weeks ago but never finished.)

Well. . . I'm going to put my head on the soft, comfy pillow now. Hope all have a nice day! 🙂

Ted

Edited to Add: Hi Tweety. I seen you snuck in your post just before I hit the "Send" button. Yesterday seems like quite the busy day at work for you! Yikes! Hope your trip to the dentist is uneventful.

Morning, all-

Back to cold and cloudy.  Last weekend was such a tease.  I'll be getting out of Dodge next week for 5 days down to the Naples, FL area.  I hope the weather is decent.  I just want to sit outside with a book and relax.

We had a patient yesterday who made me want to bang my head against the wall.  Severe COPD, will not take inhalers because they "contaminate her lungs".  Wait for it...she smokes 2 packs a day, but tobacco is "natural".  Talk about denial. Her lung function is terrible and she has SOB without exertion.  I pretty much told her there was nothing I could do for her if she wouldn't take medications or stop smoking. I had no magic.  Then she asked for her co-pay back.  Um...no.

Joe-Hope your day goes well.  Ordinary is often very good!

Tweety-Enjoy your stretch of days off.  Glad you survived the 3 12s!

Ted-Sweet dreams to you.  Gladd you have some time off, too.

J22-Ugh-keep your weather out West please. I looked up the hummingbird.  They are gorgeous little things!

Hi to everyone else.  Did we have a Davey Do sighting yesterday???  Now, that's a rare bird!

Yes, rare bird indeed! I spotted that Davey Do bird over on the yellow side a few days ago.

To quote a weatherman from my days in Idaho: "it's cold enough to issue an alloy primate alert!" (brass monkeys and all that). It was around 15 degrees all night, with the wind bringing the chill factor to ZERO! The hummingbird feeder, even with its little heater was frozen solid. I brought it in over night to thaw, and as I went to hang it out this morning, one of the zoomers flew to it as I held it up. I am going to make my home visit today, so I can stop by and it out with another. And the snow forecast for Thursday is already here.

I showed up for my hour long gym orientation and fitness eval last night, only to find out the trainer meant 630 am, not 630 pm. So I tried to reschedule, but the desk person didn't seem to understand how to use the booking system, so I am going to call later.

The electrical company billing continues to be bizarro. Dh authorized me to have access, so I called and found out our billing was switched off back in 2017, even though we were receiving and paying bills up to 7/2019. Their solution was open a new account and I got to pick when billing would start. I picked Jan 1, 2020. I feel bad for the poor schmuck who has been paying our bill, but the company didn't seem to think this was unusual or needed further investigation.

Wow, it never occurred to me to ask for a co-pay back. That patient sounds like my father in law before he passed. He insisted he knew better than anyone, demanded treatment, and then wouldn't follow through. Rough way to exit this life.

Carry on

Strange Days, Indeed!

Today I found out, from our Live-In Source of Imaginary Events, that last week there was a cement burial vault and a fancy ivory-colored casket in the next-door-neighbor's side yard. And that the man who lived there (who has been dead at least 15 years now) was having a hard time taking care of his sick wife (also dead, many more years than him), so, "He hired a retarded man to take care of her, and then he went out and bought those items, which sat out there a good while. It's a crazy custom that I don't understand." ... (Huh! Whaddya know! Imagine that!) She said that she has never seen anybody just leave an open-casket outside like that. She opined that: "Maybe he was trying to protect his girl from grieving too hard about her mother being gone, you know, by keeping it out of the house. But I would worry about the birds and animals getting to her" (Perish the thought.)

So, another exciting day with astonishing tales! Sometimes I think that watching an all-day "Tele-Tubbys" marathon would be less excruciating, but on second thought ... 😖 ... never mind!

Rainy and warm (71) for the next several days. Rumor has it that we will see some sun by Friday.

Beautiful sunny day. After their spouses left for work neighbors stood outside on the sidewalk drinking coffee and gossiping. Even the non golfers enjoyed Davey Do's "Cross your eyes and dot your tees" from yeaterdays thread.

NEWS FLASH:

Nannie says people are urging her to run for the Presidency.

She said that neither the white man or the black man who are running really don't want to win the Presidency, so 'somebody' decided that SHE should be President.

I say: RUN FOR THE HILLS!!!!!  (and please be sure to VOTE when it comes time. But NOT for "her")

Early evening greetings all.

Joe - been meaning to ask because maybe I missed it but what kind of questionnaires are you doing? I finally got one of those CMS post hospitalization questionnaires for my recent hosp. I LOVED that hosp for my Sept/Oct stay. When I consider hellish experience I had just about 1 year ago . And NO, they no longer asked about pain mgt on it.

My second hosp has just bought out the first one so ,boy, will they have a monumental job ahead of them as they move to cross train all the staff in their model of excellent care.

NSIME - however could I vote for Nannie when I was PRIVILEGED to receive a phone call from DJT urging me for my vote 'to build the Wall'!?!?.  Well it was just a robo-call but I felt so HONORED.  🤪

Got seasonally chillier for today with a misty rain. As long as the weather stays dry for tomorrow as I have a return ENT doc appt. I use a whch and my sidewalk has 3 separated steps, so I roll over on the grass to avoid the steps. Hopefully, this SHOULD be the last visit. Then I need to start playing catch-up on all my other docs - cardiology, pulmonary, (will be new providers - but they're in the same bldg as my ENT. Short drive!) And there's still nephrology & urology.

Tonight is a continuation of Champion Challenge on Jeopardy. I'm hooked. But it kills me that 8 pm conflicts with my NCIS.

Have to REALLY, REEEEEALY start to clear my table of all my mail & stuff. I hate it. It depresses me ( like a real depression). It's a task I find difficulty doing. I'm impressed when I read all the tasks you guys accomplish. My stamina & endurance just isn't there.

Oh, well ...

Oh, well ...

These are kind of a general health questionnaire that is used for planning case management

amoLu, I have been living in The (not so) Wonderful World of Nannie for so long, that when I read about you avoiding the steps and rolling down on the lawn, I pictured you laying down on the grass and doing a log-roll like a kid does, to the bottom of the hill. Then after a few minutes contemplating this action I said, "NAW! Couldn't be!" A few minutes after that I said to myself..."OH! ... In a WHEELCHAIR!"   GOOD GRIEF!

Gave me a good laugh at my incomprehension. D'Oh!

NSIME   - that WAS funny. But I have to say, one time I fell in the street with oncoming traffic. The fastest way to get out of the way WAS to log-roll, so log-roll I did.

Joe - TY

OK, all. Champion Jeopardy is over and that Ken Jennings won. Dang, he is smart. On tonight's channel 6 Philadelphia was a story that Sam Springsteen (26 yo) was sworn in as a Jersey City firefighter after completing a firefighter's program at Monmouth Univ. Son of 'The Boss' Bruce Springsteen. Love 'The Boss'.
