Good Morning!

At 0600, it's a quiet early-morning in this part of the world. Been up for about an hour surfing the internet. One place where I visited was my "My Benefits" web-site that our employer provides us. I was reviewing the benefits (healthcare, dental plan, retirement plan, etc., etc) that I selected for 2020. Everything seems in good order. However, it took me a good 20+ minutes to find this web-page!

I'm still a bit down over the whole car situation. Today, I'll be doing research and making appointments (hopefully) to have a new passenger-side mirror replace on my hurting Jeep Cherokee. I might be wrong, but I believe that we're required to have a mirror on both the driver-side and passenger-side doors. At least the Jeep works! I do have an appointment to have the studded winter tires put ON the vehicle (rather than reside inside the Jeep, in the back). The earliest that the tire place could get me in is this Friday at 10:30 AM. It's where I purchased these tires, a couple of months ago. They said that the service of putting on these tires will be free because I purchased the tires from their store. That's good.

It's still snowing outside! Presently, it seems that we have about 12" of snow on the ground. It does look pretty. First Snow always looks pretty. It gets old quickly, though.

Our driveway finally got plowed! I managed to get my car into my garage last night, finally. They'll have to do more snow-plowing later on today.

I'm not going ANYWHERE today. Today, the plan is to stay inside our comfy home, try not to think about the damaged vehicle, and maybe work on some music. Amy and I started recording some Holiday Music to be used as DVD gifts this year. I still have to finish the arrangement to the first song. We still have to do the video recording for this song, too. Then we might work on another tune or two for this year. With only a few weeks away from X-mas, we probably should have started this project much earlier. L O L!

I'm working Wednesday and Thursday nights, then I'm off the week-end. Hopefully there'll be no further snow storms this week.

Well, I just heard the coffee pot go "Ding!" That's a beautiful sound! Gonna get me First Coffee!!

Hope all have a pleasant day, today. 🙂

Ted glad you're going to get that mirror repaired.  Sorry about the damage to the car, hope you feel better

Stars glad you have appointments with both the doctor and the council on aging, hopefully they can provide some help dealing with Nannie

Yesterday started off crazy, I was rushing because I wasn't sure how many calls I would have to make to get a questionnaire done.  Thankfully got one done with my 4th call.  And another one done in the afternoon.  And another one scheduled for today.  So hopefully I'm good in terms of productivity

Fairly productive day after work too, ran various errands and exercised

Today should be quieter after work.  Glad this will be a short work week for me

Weather should be decent, no rain and temps in the 40s

Good morning all!

Ted, did I read correctly, a few days back, that you are still the choir director at your church?  Good to get those studded tires ON!!  Dunno about the mirror requirements but it seems a good idea to have one on both sides of the car.  Hope you enjoy your day cozy at home.

Joe, it DOES sound like you are meeting the productivity requirements, that's good.  Having those hanging over one's head would make me nervous!

I slept till 3 then woke up and couldn't get back to sleep.  At least I stayed in bed and rested.  Will survive the day, I'm sure.

Have a good one!

Tweety's right. I'm going to call my psychologist and set up some phone sessions to deal with the anger. No excuses for the hatefulness. I apologize to those I've offended, and will be counseling w/ an Alzheimer's CG specialist.

See yez laydah.

Morning-

It's still snowing here.  We have about 8" so far.  Work was delayed til 11.  So far no patients have shown up.  I think there will be a lot of no shows today.  The main roads are ok, but the secondary roads are pretty slippery.  I had fun this morning watching Niko watch the birds at the feeders.  He chatters his teeth at them.  They don't seem to care.

Ted-I'm sorry about the car.  That stinks. I'm glad you don't have to go anywhere today.

Joe-It seems that you're doing just fine at work.

Dianah-I hope you're able to get some better sleep tonight.  Sounds like you had a great time at Disney!

Stars-You did not offend me in the least.  Being a caregiver for someone with dementia is so difficult.  I care more that you find a way for you and DH and to cope and deal with the very understandable frustration and anger.  I hope your psychologist and the Council on Aging are able to help.

Everyone stay safe today!

Hello -

Just finished shoveling around our property. On one hand, the muscles ache. On the other hand, it's a freakin' good work out, and we now have relatively easy access to our front, back and garage doors. It does look pretty outside, with all of the snow on the trees. I still whimper to myself when I look at the my poor car door. But when I'm done typing here, I'm going to do what needs to get done to ensure there's a proper mirror on the passenger side. I called my car insurance agency who reminded me of the $500 deductible. (Whine!) But anything over that $500 should be covered. I have no idea what it's going to cost to repair the damage. But, I'll know by the end of the day! L O L!

I do plan on workin on some music, later today. It will help me relax, as well as exercise my music-making muscles.

Joe - A "productive" day (night) for me is ensuring that my "patients are alive 'til seven-o-five"! (That's 7:05 AM, when the day shift takes over patient care in our teeny-tiny ICU.) L O L! By the way, I do a really good job in ensuring patient safety and comfort. A hospital-related patient injury (or death) means way too much paper-work! L O L! It seems that you're a very productive-focused type of person. I hope your employers realize the good work that you do.

dianah - Yep! I'm still the choir-director and keyboardist for our teeny-tiny church. I rescinded my Notice of Retirement a number of months ago. Although there were total of four individuals who showed some level interest in the position, no one took the job. I'm relatively at Peace with my decision to continue on as keyboardist and choir director. It is my church home. I care deeply for the congregation. Also, I'm pretty good at what I do, having been in this position for 35+ years. I hope you get a well-deserved good day's rest, dianah. Insomnia is not fun, as you know and experienced.

NSIME - It is good to read that you're seeking support for the situation that you're in. Please know that you are supported here. At the very least, your (or anyone's) "journaling" on these Daily Diaries can be one source of support towards healing, perspective and peace of mind.  There are times in our lives, though, that professional support can be very helpful and healing. In the past, I've done years of counseling. That process was difficult at times.  However that process was helpful. Because of that time in my life, working with a well-trained counselor, I hold a deeply rooted sense of positive self-worth; overall I am at peace with who I am as an individual (complete with imperfections along side of many strengths). Just as importantly, I have tools learned through those many counseling sessions that help keep my mind at peace. I am grateful for that particular counselor. I wish you well as you take those steps towards seeking support for what seems to be a very difficult situation.  As I've recently shared with you, I honestly don't know how I would cope in dealing with what you deal with on a day-to-day basis.

Just one general concern to share. This is a public bulletin board. All what is shared is available for anyone to read. Please be careful what you share, to whom you share things to, and HOW you share things. Sometimes Personal Messages (PMs) make a better option than publicly posting thoughts and feeling that are directed towards another fellow bulletin-board member.

Well. . . It's time for a shower and a shave. Then, phone calls to car repair shops. Then, hopefully, to some music-making.

Cheers! 🙂

Ted

We took Nannie to the doctor: No x-rays; "if she can walk, her hip's not broken. If it's a cracked rib, only time will mend it." No changes in meds.

My psychologist/therapist is the one I've gone to off and on since 1994, so I feel accepted and safe with her. I'm not afraid of delving down deep inside me; what I've worked on with her previously was a lot worse than what I'm going through now. But go through it, I will.

I had a long drive and then a great time at brunch with former coworkers. Our unit secretaries now adult daughter was there. Last time I saw her she was 14. Now she is a medical student! Lots of friendly gossip. A nurse I precepted as a new grad is now marred, pregnant with her first child, and attending school to be an NP. Another nurse is now working as a Call Center nurse at Kaiser. He is still in his fifties, but  can't work the floor because of a painful back injury.

The food was really good! I enjoyed the shrimp stuffed with goat cheese. It was nice to get together on a weekday without the holiday rush.

Just the facts:

When I went out to pharmacy, and hubby was up in the bathroom,  Nannie took her cup of coffee outside to sit on the patio...w/o her walker; fell hard on her back and spilled her coffee all over herself. Hubby didn't know she'd gone out and fallen until he came back down from the bathroom. He couldn't find anyone to help him get her up, and since it was getting colder, he worked at it did manage to get her up and back inside to sit in her recliner.

I got home and took the dog out back to do his business. Hubby came out to tell me what had transpired. A moment later, we went back in the house and Nannie was nowhere around. Hubby went out the front door, I looked on the second floor where the formal livingroom and diningroom are closed off. Hubby came back in and we heard something upstairs on the third level. She was up in his room.

He started up stairs and called out for her to come back downstairs so we could change her into dry clothes. She started grabbing whatever she could find to throw at him. He backed down the stairway and asked her to PLEASE come downstairs. "I"M NOT GOING ANYWHERE!" We then stood away from the bottom of the six steps so she might motivate down on her own. But she went into our bathroom and then started throwing things down the stairs at us again.

We finally ended up having to do an awkward fireman's carry down the stairs and into the den with her screaming at the top of her lungs in our ears. Once in the recliner, she said she wanted to call the police, so hubby handed her the phone, which she promptly threw at his head (missed) and said she hoped he was happy being such an effing coward.

It took him 25 minutes to talk her into taking her routine meds, but she finally did take them. Hope she's cooled her jets before her bedtime.

That's it.

God bless us every one.

Agree.  (((((((((( NSIME and her dh ))))))))))))

Busy day at work, and i was the lead person.  We got off pretty much on time.  All pts alive.

Dh exchanged our old modem for a new one (took the old one to the center, and they just exchanged it).  There is SOME improvement in reception but it's not worth fireworks and starry-eyed WOWs!!!  We will continue to evaluate it as we use it.

Got groceries (forgot parmesan cheese though!) and paid bills.

I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I sleep better tonight!!

Y'all have a good evening!

Last fun of the evening was Nannie seen on the monitor at 10:30 PM, packing clothes into a bag. When hubby went into her room, she said she was "leaving this damn hospital and going back home"...home being w/ her mom and dad. Hubby talked her down and got her to take a PRN Ativan. Finally heard her snoring around midnight. This has been one of the worst days and evenings yet.

I'm exhausted; going to bed. Thanks for the hugs and all.
