Morning

Crazy day at work.  Long meeting that ran even longer.  Everyone got a bunch of new patients with little warning.  Coworkers frustrated and wondering if we can handle the additional load.  Concerns about if we can fulfill our contract.  I was a bit frustrated too but felt the concern was excessive...we're 3 months into a 3 year contract.  If a year or two from now things are still this crazy, then I would be concerned

Got laundry done and exercise done when I got home

Meeting J tonight for dinner instead of tomorrow, as the church group is meeting then.  First dinner out since before his CA trip

Weather remains nice, should remain so until the weekend at least

Good Morning!

Joe - I can appreciate being startled with an unexpected work-load. But I've learned that sometimes it pays to take a few deep breaths, and get into a "wait and see" mode to see how things actually pan out, like what you're doing. In the meanwhile, enjoy dinner with J.

Well. . . I had a delightful dinner with Lil Nel and her friends, yesterday!! It's always nice meeting friends from allnurses, face to face! They're both very interesting people! They've known each other for a long time. It's nice to see a long-lasting friendship that they seem to have with each other. We ate dinner at a lovely Indian restaurant. I'm not as familiar with the Indian cuisine. To be honest, I wasn't sure how I'd like the food. But, it was DELICIOUS! And, it was a vegetarian meal, too!! (I do enjoy vegetarian meals. I enjoy vegan meals, too! They go really well with meat!! YUM!! L O L! ) (Although, I didn't have any meat last night.) I found out that her friend and his wife live in the same county where I live. So, hopefully we can all get together again in the not-too-distant future. Lil Nel and her friends are now on their way to Nantucket. She says "Hello" to everyone! 🙂

Work Saturday and Sunday nights were busy nights. I played the role of "Mr. Shift Director". Basically, that means I was everyone's bytch, helping out wherever help was needed. L O L! 😄 (Taking people to CT Scan, starting IVs, drawing blood, answering call-bells, changing soiled adult briefs and wet linen, etc., etc., etc.) But, what it nice about this "role" is that I don't have to do a ton of charting!!! 😄 They were busy nights, but they were good nights. I do like being a Shift Director.

Today is day (night) two off from work. The weather is supposed to be nice. I'll probably mow the lower portion of our property today. Haven't mowed the section of our property in weeks! The grass. It grows high!! EEK!! Don't have any other plans for the day. Amy is off from work today, too. Maybe we can do something nice and out-doorsey together (in addition to the yard work). Tomorrow is day (night) three off from work. I'm meeting Dad's wife for lunch tomorrow. It'll be the first time we've gotten together since Dad's funeral. It seems that she needed some space. For a while, she was not answering texts or phone calls. Admittedly, that was very frustrating. Throughout the past few months, I was attempting to contact her to say "hello" as well as to seek information with regards to the "where and when" of the burial service for Dad's ashes. Eventually, she contacted me. Since then, she seems willing to correspond. It'll be nice having lunch with her, tomorrow.

Nothing much else going on. Hope all is well with everyone!

Peace! 🙂

Ted

Good Morning!

Joe, that is indeed frustrating to be thrown extra work.  People though can be a bit dramatic.

Ted, hope you have a nice day off.  I love Indian food and have several cookbooks and have been to the Indian store nearby here.  It's a favorite cuisine because of all the spices.  How cool you met Nel.

Stars, no overtime this week for me.

Yesterday was a lazy day as I took a nice long nap and caught up on sleep.  Had a good time bowling although two team members were absent.

Today have some chores to get done.  I too need to mow this week as well.

Morning, Team!

I walked into work to greet a giant pile of stuff left for me by the crazy one. And no report. She thought she left me a report on a phone message, but then she apparently deleted it because she doesn't know how phones work. I spent most of the day just trying to figure out where to start. Supervisor is aware, and I think they continue to compile documentation on her. Or me. I have decided I will retire in 2 1/2 years, when I qualify for Medicare and am vested in the pension plan. I just need to grin and bear it.

But the weather is dry but hazy. I went for a short bike ride last night, for the first time in a year, and it was lovely, but I am so out of shape! I only went about 3 miles and am feeling it this morning, but in a good way.

I haven't had a lot of Indian food because dh doesn't like spice, but I enjoy the little bit I've had. I wouldn't know what to order if I went alone to an Indian restaurant. Youngest son and I went to a Nepalese restaurant last year, and it was delightful.

Joe, it sounds like you are keeping your co-workers grounded. I wish you could come to our office, where they seem to run around with their heads cut off at times. Actually, I wouldn't mind work with any of you. You all see to keep your eye on what's best for the patient and support your coworkers. Take care all.

Morning-

I slept for 9 hours straight through last night, which is highly unusual for me.  It felt good.  I just got off the phone with DD, who had a very promising phone interview for a job this fall.  She'll have the in person interview on 9/15 when she's back from the island.  She comes back on the 12th, and I'll go out one last time on the 6th.

I'm off work today to take Mom to the oncologist.  Her appointment isn't until 3:30, so I have some time to potter this morning.  I will get out for a walk.  I'm a little freaked out about Mom's cancer recurrence, and exercise does help to calm me down.

Joe-It's frustrating to get work dumped on you with no warning.  Good for you for not panicking.  Have fun with J tonight.

Ted-I'm so glad you met Nel!  It's fun to put a face to the name.  I like Indian food, but it doesn't always like me, 😂.  I hope you and Amy get out today.

Tweety-That's good you had a lazy day yesterday.  You earned it.

J22-2 1/2 years isn't too long.  Try not to kill your co-worker before then, 😂.

Talk to you all later!

Happy Tuesday!

The plumber came yesterday to drywall the hole he drilled and cut under the sing last week. He was supposed to be here at 9:00 am , but arrived at 10:35. I showed him the small leak at the wall so he fixed that. He finished that st 10:30 and said he was through for the day so I went to the gym and then the grocery store. When I left he was sitting in his van. When I got home at almost 3:00 pm he was reclined in the driver's seat sleeping. I don't know when he left. We've only paid $200.00 of the $3,300.00 bill. They won't get paid until the jub is finished and has passes the Building and Safety inspection. Wonder how long it will take if I don't call them. I have the stuff in a cardboard box under the sink. I can find what I need and the leaky pipe is replaced so I'll just wait.

Quiet day of doing laundry and listening to the same-old-same-old massively boring blathering of the ever-changing variations of Nannie's life history and the histories of a bunch of dead relatives and 30-years-from- the-past neighborhood scandals. Hubby and I take turns vacating her immediate vicinity in order to air out our brains to avoid implosion.

Hello to folks here.

Was thinking about those Maine lobsters from the vacationers. I get grocery Shop from Home, and every now & then they offer live lobsters in their weekly circulars. I wonder what would happen if I chose to order 2 live lobsters? I wonder if I would be the first to do that to them 🤣

NSIME - continuing from yesterday... what about converting any old family movies into DVDs? Maybe some Reality Orietation - it won't really help much but maybe she'd enjoy it for awhile?

All y'all's talk of food got me to thinking. My Sunday newspaper had an autumn recipe insert and I got to thinking about making a crockpot crab soup. That or a crab spaghetti sauce. I have a bag of crab legs to use. Some other neat autumn favorites like a caramel cocoanut poke cake.

This coming Monday is a holiday - my HHA would be getting time&half so the Agency called me to auth the holiday pay. I only have HHA 2 hrs twice a week. I don't mind my HHA getting the money, but it's the Agency charge$ that are expensive.

The other days I manage with some difficulty. It's the leftover ADL residual from my not so distant past hospitalization/LTC rehab. I've been home 5 months and I still am so angry re the quality of care rec'd from both facilities.

I posted back then a request here if you guys knew where/who I could contact to register complaints. I'm unable to search backwards to find those posts.

I have to check out the news report heard about 4 employees from Florida being charged for deaths of 12 NH residents from a hurricaine power outage 2 years ago. People died from heat for 3 days in th NH. Wonder whoe's going to be charged.  If I recall, there was a hospital kind of right across the street or so who could have helped.

FYI - there's a full article on the yellow side re this incident. There's much more info that I read. Left me with the feeling that more will be coming out.

It is a sad situation with lots of mishandled information  resulting in parties that dropped the ball.

But to offer just one small thing to remember was that it was a time of SERIOUS duress for all.  NOT an excuse, however.
