When voting for someone we have to determine his or her qualifications without knowing the person wll. (With rare exceptions)

Also we can all learn better with experience and logic.

This thread reminded me of a post from many years ago:

400 Bad Request

Many people have been posting here for a long time. I have come to think of many as friends. On line friends except for the few I've worked with or met in person.

I'll tell what I think of Spidey's Mom who I've "known since her 17 year old son, "Spidey", was a toddler. I think she is a good person, a hard working and caring nurse, and in my opinion definitely NOT a racist.

PS: I haven't believed any current member as such. Maybe one who may have been a robot, almost certainly was not a nurse, and was only here for a few weeks.

Well that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. In my opinion I have answered the questions, just not in the way people want me to. And, that being said, with all due respect, I don't have to answer any of your questions.

I completely agree you don't have to answer any questions you don't want to answer, I think the disagreement is about questions you claim to have answered but haven't.

I agree with you at least on the general premise that whether someone is a "racist" is not as simplistic as some people make it seem, and it is possible for non-racist statements to be misinterpreted, but in the case of Trump, when specifically given the opportunity clarify some of these statements as being non-racist, he instead confirmed that it was the racist interpretation that he meant, not the potentially innocent and non-racist interpretation.

So when someone confirms that they hold racist beliefs, despite being given multiple opportunities to clarify that, how is that not at least some form racism or bias? What would a person have to do for you to consider them to be racist?

Trump denies being a racist because he firmly believes that his racist statements are not racist. He is happy to tell you that he is the LEAST racist person you could know or meet.

From reporting on his parent's KKK involvement, it's possible that his young life was steeped in all manner of privileged and prejudiced predilection.

Perhaps those who cannot see the racism at the foundation of some of his policy and remarks experience similar indoctrination.

It seems like a popular question so far has been "what does racism look like?," and the answer is quite simple. All you have to do is look at the comments section of a youtube video, and you will see some of the most disgusting and deplorable comments made by cowards who hide behind the anonymity of their keyboard. I have yet to hear or read, any comments (and I've read every post in this thread) by the president that come even close to that outright show of racism that is the comments section in youtube. Does racism exist? Yes it does, and I'll tell you why.

EVERY time a person types or speaks a racial slur, pulls the race card on someone else, screams racism at a group or individual, or delineates racial difference for ANY reason, the wedge gets driven deeper, and the other side retaliates with heavier and harsher words and actions. LET IT GO. I don't care if someone is running through the street with white hood screaming the N-word, they have to be treated like toddlers having a temper tantrum. IGNORE IT. Take the power away from them, and it will go away like Morgan Freeman said. They are weak when they don't have a platform to stand on and an audience to inflame. I can tell you that it takes a lot.

I have heard that blacks cannot be racist, and I somewhat agree with that to a certain extent. After 400 years of being enslaved, they can be as pissed off as they want to be, and whites really shouldn't have jack-@#$t to say about it. Let them vent, and shut the @#$% up and listen. They earned the right to be bitter about that.

Here's what I have trouble with.

I cannot for the life of me understand why a person that is born in the United States, black or white, cannot bring themselves out of poverty generation after generation. I personally have known immigrants (3 specifically, one black) that came to this country with the clothes on their backs, with no family, little money, no house, no support system, no connections, and in less than 10 years, got a job, got an education, bought a car, bought a house, and are now thriving in this country and have families that are healthy and happy. STARTING FROM ABSOLUTE 0 mind you.

That's the American @#$%#$ing dream right there.

On the other hand, when I hear people that make excuses that because they are __________________(fill in the blank with your B.S. excuse here) and they cannot get ahead because so and so is bringing them down, it is utter and absolute bull@#$%, and I'm not buying it. Because no matter what, I've seen people with less, do far more.

Calling people racists, is equally divisive and race baiting as calling them a racial slur; the reason being only that person themself knows truly 100% what is in their heart. By mis-labeling a person as a racist, or anything else, may incite something ugly and dark that was never there before and will always make problems worse.

White priveledge is B.S.

Feminism is B.S.

KKK is B.S.

White and black pride is B.S.

Starbucks pandering to race baiters is B.S.

Calling Trump a racist and fascist for no reason at all is B.S.

Accusing Obama of being Muslim or foreign born is B.S.

I'm sick of racism.

I hate the n-word:

I don't want to hear it used by anyone. I don't care if you're black, people were whipped while being called that word. It's disgraceful.

I hear children use it, adults use it, asians use it, whites use it, and blacks use it more than anyone. It needs to stop. I cringe every time I hear it. Stop it.

Sorry for the profanity, it was necessary.

National (US) Poll - July 3, 218 - Harsh Words For U.S. Family Se | Quinnipiac University Connecticut

79% of blacks believe that Trump is a racist. Roughly 60% of Hispanics do.

The groups of people least likely to identify racism in Trump's words or deeds are white and/or Republican.

79% blacks?? Roughly 60% of Hispanics? What in the actual f%k? You are reaching bro...a poll from a University? That is rubbish, and you posted it twice as if it were factual. You need to bring more to the discussion if you want to contribute something provocative or interesting. Garbage post.

Quinnipiac is actually a well established polling center, it's polls are frequently referenced by moderate as well as liberal and conservative media, Fox News and Breitbart frequently reference Quinnipiac. If you have a substantive argument about the poll feel free to share that, otherwise there's no reason to refer to someone's input as "garbage".

Still not sure what you're saying racism is. You gave the example of the comments section of a YouTube video, is that the only racism that exists?

Just as a basic definition, is broadly describing a group based on their nationality, origin, religion, etc using false derogatory characterizations racist or biased?

So that poll was taken from all blacks and hispanics in the United States? Can you see how that seems completely unlikely and skewed from my viewpoint? What cross section of the population are we dealing with? Every time I see protesters in the media they look like plain ol' white folks to me. Where are the black and hispanic protesters? Add "half-reporting" and selective media to my list of dislikes
