(sorry, the title should have read: what brand of makeup do you wear?)

i've been on a make-up frenzy lately and have tried different department store make-ups. my latest try was mac...which i wasn't impressed with at all.

i currently wear double wear by estee lauder. it stays on all day...through the sweat i endure during my shift. i haven't found anything i like better so far.

so, what brand do you wear? what do you like about it? spill :lol2:

I wear Bare Minerals. I love it. It gives good coverage while looking natural..those two are usually mutually exclusive. I also like that it is relatively natural and healthy for the skin. Thanks for starting this thread, I am interested in the replies too.

One tip..use primer. I used to think it was just a waste of money and an extra step, but it really enhances coverage in my opinion.

Bare Minerals or Physicians Formula.... I try not to wear anything too heavy when I'm working.

bare minerals (amaing at covering blemishes)

urban decay (eyes)

covergirl lipstain (lips)

I ♥ makeup, and this combination stays with me the entire shift :)

My regimen is really simple. I use an Almay cover stick if I have blemishes, but other than that, I really like Physician's Formula--very light and clean feeling.

I love Revlon Colorstay foundation. The idea of "colorstay" was a huge turnoff to me, but I finally decided to try it because so many people swore it was great. It stays on all day and gives great coverage, plus it doesn't feel heavy or stiff at all.....and you have to use only a very small amount of the product to get the flawless effect. I often wore primer before I found this product, but with the colorstay foundation, I no longer need it! Best of all, most people are surprised that I wear any make up at all....it's very natural looking.

Beyond that, I paint a tiny amount of neutral-colored colorstay lipcolor on my cupid's bow for definition and fill in with sheer lip gloss:D I would love to find a lip color product that stays on all day, looks natural, and isn't drying....but that may be asking for toooooo much.

Are you all kidding me? Who cares what kind of makeup you are wearing, unless you are looking to be betty boop nurse. I know when i'm at work my main concern is not weather or not my lipstick has staying power without drying; I'm concerned that my PATIENT has staying power. That's my main concern. I think that question makes us nurses sound petty and unprofessional. Questions like that belong on FB not a nurses forum. You don't know who is reading this and we have fought long and hard for the respect that we are finally starting to get. Oh and BTW I prefer to NOT wear makeup because it tends to smear after I work up a sweat running up and down the halls all day.

i mix and match brands with skincare and makeup so that everything i'm using works well with my skin. some lines have good items and some lines have completely bum items.

for my under eye circles i use benefit erase paste. i like cover girl lash exact waterproof mascara (in brown or black brown). i used to wear bare minerals but honestly, that stuff looks awful on me. there's no good color match for my skin tone. i like revlon mineral mousse. but usually i just wear a matte sunscreen and that evens out my skintone (the nest matte sunscreens are from japan- wear well and have good uva protection, usually have a high % of zinc oxide).

for blush i like nars (the, um, "o" one), but i usually just wear concealor, mascara, and sometimes eyeliner to clinical. maybe a lipstain.

Oh my gosh...this comment is so inappropiate. I was asking a simple question about makeup. Most women do wear makeup, whether they are a nurse or not. I don't see how getting "off the topic of nursing..."makes nurses sound petty and unprofessional". I was asking this question too, because a lot of us nurses work long 12-16 hour shifts, and some make-up doesn't have that staying power. Just looking for suggestions and comments. Hey there, supernurse, you need to lighten up a bit. :heartbeat It's just makeup. : )
