Morning

Work at home process is proceeding.  Next week I'm going to work at home Wed Thurs and Fri.  I'm surprised the process is proceeding in a timely fashion, normally I've experienced weeks of delay.

Met J for dinner at one of our usual places after work.  Was nice not to have to worry about getting to choir practice afterwards.  Saw some vivid lightning from a storm to my north on the way home

Have the grocery shopping to do after work today.  Might take time to watch the debates if they're not too boring

Weather around here is still fairly warm although cooling down, will gradually become more fall like.

Morning-

Yesterday was bizarro day at work.  I spent too much time arguing with a parent that a milk allergy is a food allergy and needs to be documented as such for school.  She kept insisting it wasn't, because milk is a drink, not a food.  Where is the banging your head on brick wall emoji when you need it?  Also had another parent wanting a list of all the milk and egg free choices at Dunkin Donuts.  Umm-black coffee???  I don't have their menu and ingredients memorized.  The last one was a patient with environmental allergies who said she didn't have any pets at home.  I asked if she had any animal exposure at all.  She said yes, my DD's dog and cat.  I asked how often she was exposed to them, and she said everyday, because my DD lives with me.  So I said, but you just told me you don't have pets.  Her response-I don't own them, so they're not my pets.   Maybe I expect too much...

Woke up at 2 AM and by 3:30 decided to get up and go downstairs, where I promptly smashed my foot on the leg of the coffee table.  My first 3 toes are nice and swollen, and turning purple.  It's gonna be sandals at work today.  Sorry, OSHA.

Joe-will you be working full time from home or just a few days a week?

J22-I hope you get some pain relief from the cream and the gabapentin.  I loved the picture of your Main St.  My town did something similar on the town common.  A man from our town was killed in the attacks in NY, and has family decorates the common and holds a service every year on 9/11.

Stars-I'm glad your pain is better, even if you haven't entirely convinced the gypsies to leave town.

Wishing all a peaceful day today.

Good morning!

Joe, glad the at-home work process is going well.

BC, sorry you didn't sleep and banged your toes.  Ouch.  I used to expect a lot but have decided that as a nation we're pretty dumbed down and lack of focus on quality education the last few generations is rearing it's ugly head.  I wonder sometimes how people actually function out there.

Herring, how frustrating to still be dealing with the bathroom issue, but good on you for not paying until the work it 100% to your satisfaction.  Sad story about your brothers and their early passing.

J22, hope the new treatment helps with the pain issues.  Also, like Stars, I would be wondering about a cause and when it will stop.  I actually have two friends that use cannabis cream...one for fibromyalgia and another for some kind of nerve pain and both report good results.  One lives in Canada and another gets it in Oregon where he spends summers but Florida recently legalized medical cannabis finally.

Stars, happy that some of the pain is relieved but sorry that the gypsies moved again.

Still off and going to meet my sister and my ex brother in law for dinner later for Peruvian food.  We're all still good friends.  He's going for back surgery soon and she will be helping him.

Good morning! I actually slept last night on my side, my long preferred position which has been intolerable lately. Up early to take my car to the dealership for routine service, so held off on meds because I had to drive. I think the pacemaker insertion either damaged a nerve or it is pressing on one. I am hoping a PT eval. might give a clearer answer.

BCg, your post reminds me of a thread in the school nurse forum, where a mom reported her child was allergic to the color green. Hope your toes are not broken.

Joe, that does seem quick for setting up to work from home. Hope all goes smoothly.

Be gone, gypsies!

It will only be part time for a few months at least

My husband's mother had ten kids. He was the oldest of his father's, the first were by her first husband. They were good kind men, who didn't believe their physicians. I'm glad my SIL takes her meds as ordered. Her daughter, a radiology tech AND my kids cousin, goes with her to the doctor.

Tomorrow I plan to stay home all day so the plumber can come with the inspector and then fix the hole in the wall.

Today I plan to order husband's birthday cake. I already ordered pizza for forty and two kinds of salad.

I hope all have the best day possible.

Nannie goes to the doctor for a diagnosis, then in retelling it to friends and family gets it wrong, then comes up with 'something else' to be seen for, which is the very same stuff she'd been seen for already four times this year. Never recalls that doc said (as have a few others) she has AGE SPOTS, the 'problem' about which is that she's secretly convinced (or hoping) that might be CANCER, and all of them can be cut off/out; then she thinks it should be treated with whatever product she can scrounge from her secret stashes of severely expired cream or ointment, which she adamantly claims the doctor told her to use...

I tell her that if she does not quit PICKING her skin (down to raw skin to where a teeny-tiny glimmer of blood shows) nothing will heal. "MMhmm. I know", she says as she continues to pick, saying, "SEE?" Yeah, I see, the blood there and it's there because you are always keep picking at it's edges more and more and more. Your doctor has told you, as has the nurse, a dermatologist, your son, and his wife; you just don't, can't, won't stop. And NOTHING is going to give you back your youthful skin ever again, even if you were wrapped in cheese-cloth and marinated in plumping oils for a year.

Forecasts of her future behavior from others who've gone through the same thing --- it gets worse, especially like with Nannie telling us how whatever man she talks with is hitting on her, even though she's old enough to be their grandmother. Or when the neighbor she's known since 1975, whose wife died three months ago, if he walks over to sit and talk with us for maybe 20 minutes once every 2-3 weeks, she tells us he is making a move on her. Gad, he's a lonely old man who knew that his deceased wife was one of Nannie's BFF's, so why pin THAT motive on him? Hubby and I know one woman whose previously prim and proper mother really became obnoxiously "all-about-sex". Nannie's getting that way; for instance she speculated that the (married) church secretary and the (married with 3 kids) minister probably had something going on between them....because they came by at lunchtime to give her birthday cards from the congregation and kid's Sunday School classes. The crux of that is that "they drove over here together..."  🙄

So, as disgusted as I get, instead of just 🤐 zipping my verbal portal closed,  I bite my lips until it looks like I have none: 😶. No sense in having a conversation about this or anything else. Often, now,  she gets heavily into scrambling up her life with the plots of books she's read or movies/TV shows, or newspaper article, and of course, the maximum mix-up of people and places and generations....and where they went and what they did YESTERDAY. A very inventive, but quickly disappearing brain.

I would have written more about what we did to celebrate hubby's birthday, except we didn't do anything to celebrate his birthday, my past birthday, NOR our past wedding anniversary....YET!!!! One of these days we'll have a big runaway blowout and get away as a couple. w00t!

This December we will have been married for THIRTY YEARS!  THUR-TEE- YEERZ!  Unbelievable. Nobody thought we should be or looked like we 'belonged together' (whatever THAT looks like!!) or that we would last as a couple, but of all the folks/couples we knew back when we met....we are the ONLY ones still together. HA! Fooled them all. Thank God this horror of caretaking has brought us closer together and really opened hubby's eyes to things he's never noticed about me and our way of relating now.

So that's a good thought to end on.

Tomorrow is another "Do the laundry day" But I refuse to have a "Mop the Floors Day", as Tweety does 🤣.
