Morning

Glad I slept decently last night in spite of having to get up early. Got to bed later than I had hoped but feel OK now

Have my 7am meeting. Fortunately that means I can leave earlier too

Hoping today is both less dull and less stressful than yesterday. I didn't have that much to do at work so I was worrying about the convention. Thankfully I"m calmer today, now that its closer and plans are falling into place

Dianah it's not a work related convention, it's more like the kind Herring attends Midwest FurFest 2

Good Morning -

Joe - Hope you take LOTS of pictures of the fury convention! Sounds like fun. Enjoy your date with J. (Is J going with you to the convention??)

Steph! Good to see (read) you on the "Good Morning" thread. Hope you're feeling better from that yucky flu.

Regarding Facebook - Honestly? I love it. There are a number of Allnurses members who can be found on Facebook. (I do keep your anonymity on Facebook as best as I can. So, I won't necessarily say who from Allnurses I know on Facebook.) Facebook is a really nice way to keep up with family and friends whom I haven't seen in years (decades, for some!). For the most part, I'm "friends" with all of my Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, In-Laws, Nieces and Nephews on Facebook. What is really cool is that I belong to a number of Composer-focused groups on Facebook! We share and listen to each other's compositions and problem-solve software/hardware issues. There is one composer group titled, "Composer Club Pro" (which is a real lame name for a group! LOL!) where we "challenge" each other with specific music-composition themes, often based on a picture or mood, which is helpful in getting ourselves out of our own "comfort zone" in music-writing. THIS is really cool, and has expanded my music composition chops! There are many, many groups like these that can be found on Facebook. So, if you're a painter or a writer, chances are really good that there are sub-groups to be found and joined which one might find helpful. You just have to be careful to the amount of information that you share, and to whom you share that information to. It's like any other bulletin-board/web-site on the internet. My biggest grip against Facebook is the ads that pop up all of the time. I just ignore and often delete them. (There're ads found on Allnurses, even when one, like myself, pays for the "Pro" level.)

Regarding meeting Allnurses members in person . . . I've met a number of our fellow members throughout the years. A few of them we've met via our Too Live Nurse gigs (which was very, very cool!). When Too Live Nurse was more active (it's kind of in hiatus, presently) we had one Allnurses member come to a number of our gigs, almost like a groupie! LOL! (Just kidding!) She's a lot of fun and I/we have always enjoyed her company! Farawyn and BCgradnurse, it's very cool that you two are meeting up with each other!

Yesterday . . . Got some work done on our video-gift project. That's coming along slowly but surely. It snowed, yesterday, so I shoveled. Muscles have been re-discovered and, currently, are telling me that they've been re-discovered. (Ugh!) Still, shoveling is a good form of exercise. (Again, Ugh!)

Today? Amy and I are going out to do some chores. Afterwards, we plan on working more on our audio/video project.

Hope all have a pleasant day! Cheers! :)

Ted

Good morning-

Today is my 10 AM start day, so I'm lounging a bit with a large cat curled up on my feet, keeping them warm. I will get moving in a bit and do some stretching and some yoga. Or maybe not, LOL. I spent part of yesterday evening talking with DD and a few of her friends. One of their high school classmates, who has since moved away, was arrested for a horrible, senseless murder. DD was friendly with him through middle school, but she and her friends stepped back from the friendship as he became a bully during high school. Still, she said this was completely unexpected. They are all very shaken up and disturbed by this event, understandably.

It was good to see Steph and Far check in. Steph, I hope you're feeling better soon. Far-2 days til I see you and BostonFNP! I'm beyond excited!

NSIME-Glad you were able to see your PCP and get some relief for the bad days. I hope you get in to see the new Ortho soon.

Joe-Have a good time at the convention.

Ted-Like you, I use FB to keep up with my cousins and other family members, as well as friends who live all over the country. I also belong to a few cooking and gardening groups, as well as my town's FB page. Hope you don't have to shovel today.

Hi to Dianah, J22, Herring, and everyone else who comes along.

Time to get off the couch. Hope all have a good day.

And it RAINED!!!!

With promises of MORE!

Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Joe, I think I knew it was furry convention (more fun than a nursing convention, truth be told. ;) ;) )

When my kids were teens I drove them to Comic Con and to Anime Expo, both a few times!

Amazing Cosplay at those gatherings!

Enjoy!

BC, nothing better than relaxing with the puter and a cat on your lap!

Hope today goes smoothly, in spite of the Late Start Day.

Ted, oooooooooooo, sore muscles!

Keeps ya young.

Ugh, today's pear isn't quite ripe.

It's sweet, but very hard.

Yes it's going down anyway, don't want to waste it.

I stopped by PetSmart last night on my way home from work, and picked up a few things, then on a whim, also stopped at Office Depot.

Got a handful of little things we use at work.

Just because. That's all.

Hope you have a good day!

Hey all. I'm trying to keep this up.

FB is not evil. I take breaks politically. You have to, or else you go crazy. Other than that, like Ted says, I talk to my cousins now. I talk to kids from grade school. I'm in several groups. It's a good way to keep up with people.

It's cold here, today. I have my space heater on here at work.

Joe, what do you DO at those conventions? Is it "adult" themed? I'm interested in all kinds of cosplay and fandom.

Today is my Friday as I am going to the convention tomorrow in Hartford. A nurses' convention. NOT adult themed. Sadly.

Then on to Boston!!!

NoStars, I hope you're feeling better. Love to you all.

Ted J isn't interested so I'll be going without him

Far a lot of the stuff is the same kind of thing that happens at most fan conventions...socializing, educational panels, charity events, music, dance competitions, etc....only some of it is for adults only

I was going to say 'good morning', but checked the clock...

Nannie is reading my (already read) newspaper to me; kinda wish I hadn't given it to her. She sure has strong opinions, and that's all I will say about THAT!

Hubby is doing what he calls "my wifely chores". Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping. I gathered the trash and recycling to be brought outside to the bins.

I am now sitting on the sofa with my leg elevated; as usual, the R hip and knee are complaining bitterly, as is R elbow. So what else is new? Blah!

Happy to see Steph and Far'wyn back here. Y'all don't have to write reams or reveal anything you don't want to. Just come by and say hi, tell us your weather, and whatever...

I think my sister is on Facebook, or was when she had her goat farm. Now, I dunno. Neither of my two other sibs or the invisible cousin are on Facebook, and that's the extent of my blood relatives. I'd like to reconnect with some old friends, but none of them are the kind who would join Facebook, either, nor go to school reunions. Hubby's relatives are uncommunicative, except his dgt and her kids talk w/ him all the time, texts, photos, etc. I am kinda persona-non-grata, but that's okay by me. I like my two grand-daughters, but their mom's influence on them must've bled over there. She has always mouthed off with her opinions, which she thinks are "TRUTH" about me. She's a gossip if there ever was one, and her daughters have always overheard everything, so.... Pppfffttt. I always have liked the quote, "What you think of me is none of my business."

Joe, enjoy your Fur-Fest! / BCg, Gads, it would be extremely disconcerting to learn a classmate was a murderer! ...Hope your meet'n'greet w/ Far'wyn and BostonFNP is just FABULOUS! / Ted, I used to shovel snow, as we had a longish driveway where I grew up We'd be sure the shoveled snow was piled up enough to make an igloo or fort; most of us pitched in to do it, and that made it fun. Last time I shoveled was last year, and my chest and shoulder muscles were very, very cross with me for doing so! I'm not sure how the snow situation goes where I live now, but I reckon I'll find out sooner or later. But, no more shoveling for me! / dianah, RAIN! WOW! I am happy for you out there on the left coast! Nobody's singing, "Rain, rain, go away" are they?!!!

Howdy to all that follow along here.

Hi,

I a-gathering stuff for a Family Resource Fair for a local school district, for next week. I asked the school nurse what sort of things she would like and gave her a list, and she said yes. So I got flu/cold prevention stuff, immunization brochures, some Emergency Preparedness Booklets, needle exchange info, and Nurse Family Partnership info. And my boss wants me to hand out left over swag from a past quit smoking promo, mainly T-shirts. And a snarky co-worker commented that particular community "can use anything they can get." It just sounded so judge-y. They had wanted us to give flu shots, but boss NO (thank you) but a local pharmacy with be providing those.

Customary weather report: The sun is out. It is supposed to rain tomorrow, but sunny for the weekend. No snow in the foreseeable future, I prefer that it stay in the mountains, where it belongs!

BCg, your dd has had quite a year, hasn't she? Weird, slightly related story. When I was a sweet young thing (19 or 20) I was working night shift at a security company. I sat and listened for security alarms, and radioed back and forth with the security guards as they moved about. There was one very nice, charming, good looking fellow that would always stop and talk when he was at the office. I even gave him a lift home one morning after work. I didn't last at the job long tho, couldn't stay awake. About a month or 2 after I left, that very charming fellow was arrested for homicide. Turned out that he and his cousin were the "Hillside Strangler" that killed multiple women in California. Eeek! This has left me suspicious of people who are too friendly, too fast.

I suppose I will never meet an AN person face to face as I don't think there is anyone within a 1000 miles of me. So, you all just keep letting me enjoy your face to faces vicariously, m'kay?

So here is a weird question, for Joe. Do you take your whole furry outfit? And if so, do you have a special case for it? Anyway, the conventions sounds fun.

ta ta,

j22

NSIME - As a kid, we used to make tunnels in the snow that was piled up from plowing. They were rather extensive tunnels, too, because the plowed snow, which was quite high, was from the church parking lot. It was pretty cool. Hope that right hip and right knee feels better soon!!

Farawyn - Hope the nursing convention is interesting. Have fun meeting up with BCgradnurse!!

dianah - Is it good that you're getting rain?!? I don't remember where you live. I think you live in California. (Yes? No?) If so, then the rain might be good??

BCgradnurse - How alarming it must be for your DD to have her school classmate arrested! Yikes! Well. . . Not sure how to follow up after that except to say, "Enjoy meeting your ALLNURSES friends this weekend!"

nursej22 - Sounds like you've been busy! Hope the Family Resource Fair is successful for everyone.

Amy and I had a nice lunch-date together, and we just got back from doing some chores. Once done typing here, gonna continue "producing" our audio/video gift which is slowly getting done.

By the way, I just made another "Facebook Buddy" today! If anyone's interested in being my Facebook Buddy, please feel free to PM me and away we go! I think that it's cool that there are a number of us ALLNURSES members who are also Facebook Friends. I really can't explain why I think it's cool except to say that I do enjoy passing the time away "chatting", sharing pictures and sharing puns! LOL! :D

I've about decided there is no sense in expecting my hip/knee and anything else that hurts me to get better. Maybe the platform/forearm crutches will help, with better support, but until surgery, the hip will continue to rub bone-on-bone. Hopefully, after surgery it will be mo' beddah. Not sure about the knee, because I've had no consultations about it. It all impinges on my life "biggley" (izzat a Trump-word?) but there's no miracles floating around waiting to land on any of this physical deCRAPitude. So, I might as well just get over it.

Tomorrow the dogs will be bathed and trimmed.

Monday's my appt w/ the 'new' Ortho practice.

Ted - Sometimes we go 300+ days before seeing rain. Ours is, normally, an arid area.

We have been in "drought" conditions, state-wide, for a few years now.

But we like to see rain a little more often than every 300+ days.

Rain is always welcomed, at least by dh and I. :)
