Good Evening!

Nel, I'll try to think of some simple vegan recipes and share along the way.

Joe, all the best as you wind down this job and start anew.

Steph, glad you got some good sleep.

BC, count me also as one who doesn't have allergies, but there's plenty around here with the annual pollen.  Hope things settle down.

I survived the dreaded Thursday.  They floated off a nurse even though we were getting seven admits.  I had a four patient assignment and took a post op, and discharged three.  Needless to stay my charge nurse duties weren't much.

There's going to do a trial on a few units of bringing in LPNs.  We are not one of those units.  They eliminated all LPN positions over a decade ago.  Now I'm sure they under the guise of helping the nursing shortage will hire more.  I'm sure them being cheaper than RNs doesn't mean a thing.  I've worked with some awesome LPNs that were quite skilled but I think using them in hospitals in place of RNs is an issue.

Oh, no, Tweety.

I have worked with some great LPNs, but in KY, they can't assess.

So, an RN has to do all their assessments and chart those assessments.

If something goes wrong with their patient, that RN, has to step in.

I see them as added work, on my plate, which is already full.

No acute care hospitals here, use them.

They work nursing homes, and my facility.

I am THRILLED the LPN I work with, just got her RN.

I agree, Tweety. I was an LPN but I think replacing RN's with LPN's is not the way to go. I liked it when RN's and LPN's worked together. There's a lot we LPN's can do to help lighten the RN's load. Working within our job-description and realm of practice and training, it would help a lot.  RN's should not have to do everything for their patients AND be in charge, AND take the overload, etc., as we hear of your experiences. (Then maybe you could get out on time once in a while!)

Please, when you tell Nel the easy recipes, repeat the fake tuna one; I missed it the first time around. Thanks.

If it is all on Facebook, well, I don't do Facebook; I know it makes me miss out on a lot, but the two times I almost signed up on Facebook, my guts kept saying, uh, nooooo, you don't want to do that and open yourself up to more of the world.

I like being anonymous, because I feel like I can be more of my real self. It doesn't seem so 'dangerous' when revealing myself here on AN. Probably miss out on finding or being found by old friends, too, but after my second time backing out of Facebook, I was told I was no longer allowed back on, even if I changed my mind again. Well,  I haven't changed my mind.

But it's okay because I've seen your beach-knee's photos on AN, so that's all that matters. 😉

Home!  Have read you all.

Nel, have safe travels and enjoy your trip!  Hope to hear all about it!

No Stars, how is Arthur I. Tis?  And your other gypsies, are they behaving?  Hope Nannie is tolerable tonight.  It's part of the dementia process, it seems, but when one lives with it daily, it can be totally wearing, certainly!

Joe, first day at the new job coming up!!!

Tweety, I blame you.  YES, YOU!!  And I didn't even tell dh about your "new" car, but he went off today and exchanged our car for a newer version!  Just cuz our other one was already 4 yr old, and I will be retiring in a couple years, and with the income change it might not be as favorable, financially, to spring for a new car, and our car is worth more now than it will be in 2+ years, and etc and etc and etc.  Only they are not making cars these days with a CD player.  We can do thumb drives but don't want to convert ALL our CDs.  And, totally off-topic (appropriate in the Off-Topic section!): I would appreciate the recipes too!!  Thanks in advance!

Our VERY positive exercise stress test from yesterday -- inpatient with very atypical symptoms, who developed NO symptoms during the treadmill!!! -- was cathed today and sent to the Big Hospital for bypass surgery!!  We all knew SOMETHING was up.  Good he is getting the care required.

This afternoon I did a lot of mandatory assignments that were assigned yesterday, to be completed by 6/5.  Spent 3 hr doing them.  I will not provide my other thoughts about them.  Use your imagination.  OH!  WAIT!!  Did I roll my eyes out loud????  (at the very least)

Yay, tomorrow is Friday!

Have a good evening!

Stars, I make the fake tuna salad all the time.

I cook by taste, so I can't give measurements, but you chop up chickpeas, in a veggie chopper.

And chopped red onion, and chopped celery.

I also had chopped carrot.

And I cut up pieces of cucumber.

Add black pepper, and veganese to taste.

I usually add whole wheat pasta to the mix.

Hope this is helpful.

New cars don't come with CD players, Dianah?

That is a problem, for me.

My car is the only outlet I have for listening to my CDs.

I will be driving the 2004 Camry forever.

Claus von Bulow, died, Stars and BC.

I remember his trial in Providence.

I was in my early 20s, and everyone paid attention to it.

He was 92.

Nope, no CD players, in this age of streaming and other sources of music.  Dh didn't even notice the player was missing till he got it home.  He will look for one online, so we can still play our CDs in the car.  We plan on having this vehicle for a long time!

He picked me up and drove me to the dealer to sign papers and turn in the old car's key.  Lots to learn about the new car, will take time.

I mash canned drained garbanzo beans with a hand potato masher. Season it like canned tuna. Onions, celery, and pickled are needed (to me).

There are lots of doo-dads and techy stuff in cars now that hold no interest for me, but it seems I may have to tolerate the presence of some of them if I ever purchased a recently made auto.  Seems a shame I don't have much CHOICE in that regard ; I would probably ask to have that Bee-scheist removed, and if they wouldn't or couldn't, I'd be ignoring a lot of useless (to me) things.

I'm so old-fashioned I would be happy with a mechanical car with just a radio; I even liked those little vent windows that were in addition to the front-seat  windows... windows that you have to (GASP!) physically use the handle to roll it down. I even remember when you could specify/order exactly what you wanted in a new car and they'd get it for you, and you didn't have to be saddled with what you did not want or need.

Air-Conditioning, however, is a MUST!

Nel, 'veganese' is a vegan mayonnaise-type thing? I'm okay with not having amounts and measurements. Not wild about pickles in tuna, because they use sweet pickles in most of their tuna and chicken salad here...but I can toss in dill or something else.

Yes, Stars. It is vegan mayonnaise. I like it. It contains no dairy.

Congrats on the new car . . . and yes, why not blame Tweety.  ❤️

Our car-that-is-new-to-us, however previously owned for a very short time . . . doesn't have a CD player but I don't really have many CD's anymore. I do have SiriusXM radio and couldn't live without it.  I drive long distances all the time and must have my music and talk shows.  I love Doctor Radio.

Many frustrations today but I don't have to start call until tomorrow at 07 and this is my weekend for call.  And my usual day to see patients is Monday so, I'll be THE nurse until next Tuesday at 07.  It is every 3rd weekend so not too bad.

Sweet dreams . . . well, better dreams for Stars.

Dianah, congrats on the new car.  I think.  I used to get a new one ever four to six years, but had this last one 10 years and was my first used car (so it was 12 years old).    This is my 2nd used car.  Thankfully it does have a CD player for old folks like me.  It's fancy in that it can read the CD and say what song you're on and the title.  For younger people it has blue tooth technology to play music off the phone which I've done and is pretty.   I imagine one can get Satellite Radio like Steph does too.  I do both, streaming and CD's and still like to collect CDs, although with a car payment I might buy less and less.  I have a Bose speaker that lets me stream inside the house and it sounds great.  A friend of mine brought a Bananarama CD into his new (he had it six months by then) car and only then did he realize it didn't have a CD player.

Stars, the vegan/vegetarian "mock tuna" salad is as they say.  Basically mash chickpeas and use that as the tuna and follow whatever tuna salad recipe you wish.  Veganaise is vegan mayo and I usually have some on hand.  Can't tell the difference between that and regular mayo.
