Good Morning!

It's a workday.  The "Dreaded Thursday"...oh wait, I was supposed to improve my attitude and not start off like that.  I'll channel a former member that used to post here named Sabby "It's a GLORIOUS DAY!".  I can't even type that with a straight face.

Actually the doc that does a lot of surgeries on Thursday is on vacation so it won't be that bad.  In fact I might have to float.

Anyway, I took my benzo in need of sleep and slept okay.  Woke up once and woke up too early before my alarm, but I'm better rested.

Best friend went on full weight bearing after a week of partial weight bearing in the boot without pain and is now experiencing the same pain again in the boot.  Called his doc and went in to see him.  It's baffling because he worked up from non-weight bearing to full slowly and when I saw him the other day he was 95% on crutches and feeling great.  Doc is hoping it's just plantar faciatis and put him on a medal pack and back on partial to no weight bearing.  Major setback.

Tweety I hope your friend has no more setback with his recovery

Another special project yesterday, helping UM again.  At least I had the morning to make some calls.  Hopefully I'll be done with this project by this morning.  TBH I don't mind UM work and would seriously consider transferring to UM if they needed me there.  Thinking that's not likely to happen but with a new division who knows what will happen

Met J for dinner last night at one of our usual places.  He leaves Sat morning for California so we wont' meet again until he returns just before the 4th of July

Grocery shopping tonight, and exercise too

Rainy yesterday afternoon, rainy this morning.  And cool, only in the 60s today.  Though temps will increase over the next few days.  Rain will still be hanging around though

Still lots of rain in the Blue Grass.

Not constant. But sporadic, like in FL. And it is so humid here!

My appointment with the hand surgeon, didn't go the way I hoped.

He entered the room, and I said: You were wrong! My carpal tunnel is mild, and I won't need surgery.

He took a deep breath, and explained the EMG is not definitive, and did some simple strength tests, and I admitted I drop a lot of things with my right hand, and have noticed weakness in that hand.

So, I ended up getting yet another steroid injection, this time in my wrist.

When I am ready, I will do surgery.

I told the surgeon he spoiled my day. We were just going to chat and catch up, and I was going to be on my way!

The interesting thing he shared with me, is that when he does carpal tunnel surgery at the VA, he makes a smaller incision, and the patient doesn't need to wear splints, during recovery.

But he is NOT allowed to do that surgery that way, at UK, because it is more expensive.

Nice.

When I am ready, I will have to apply for FMLA, as we don't have sick time, just PTO, and I will miss at least two weekend shifts.

I have to protect my weekend spot and pay!

And I will have to hire out Biggie chores, because it won't be possible to clean his stall, etc, while recovering.

There is a long-haired, homeless cat living near the parking lot by my apartment.

I have befriended him enough, that he let me pet him yesterday.

My goal is to snatch him, take him to the vet, and have him live with me and Wally.

He will be very pretty, once the pet groomer gets to work on him.

Poor little thing.

I can see three mats in his hair. I felt more.

Hope work is fun and easy, Tweety.

Hope everybody has a good day.

Morning Tweety, Joe, Nel, and those who visit later!

Husband is feeling good and doing as he should. He no longer needs breathing treatments, no wheezing! I'm NOT saying, "I told you so." He didn't reust the doctor that he needed antibiotics, Prednisone and treatments. But he did them to shut me up and now is breathing OK.

Have the best day you can!

Good afternoon.

Hubby is mowing the lawn before the predicted rain and afternoon thunderstorm(s). Nannie is glumped in her recliner, peeling little skin flaps and specks off her arms and scratching her elbows, staring out the glass door and watching hubby mow. Also is 'playing' with her fingers, rings and fingernails, all frequent ways she passes her time. She also removes her collection of pens and pencils she has in a plastic glass, looks through all of them and places them back, one by one, never tossing out the empty pens. Then she goes through the newspaper puzzles she has a pile of, but doesn't do any of them...and then looks through the collection of  grand-dgt and great grand-dgt, snapshots in a zip-lock baggie that we've all viewed numerous times. But she  isn't chatty, so that's nice. Not sure if she's mad or what, but don't care a'tall.

Sent ANOTHER message to the neuro-spine office; waiting-waiting-waiting. Silly me, I expected to hear back from the first appt request, but when I sent it,  their computer lied and said they would be back in touch w/ me in 24-36 hrs and it has been 4 days. And so it goes.

Stars, can you call the Neuro-Spine center?

I would call because the computer is lying to you!!!!

All computers lie.

I had short conversation with the recruiter's account manager.

She said they might be able to pump up pay slightly.

The benefits are not great.

No 401k, of course.

Health insurance is high deductible plan.

Great work, but highly doubt I can afford to take the job.

I would probably still have to do one shift a week as an RN, at bedside.

We will see.

I applied for two other positions yesterday.

One is with KY Dept. Of Justice, at juvenile detention center.

Nel, yeah, I'll call that office tomorrow AM. I could also arrive at their front desk if the call's unsatisfactory.
"Ain't too proud to beg, sweet darlin', gimme an appointment, and do it NOW! Ain't no use to beg and plead for your sympathy, 'cause my pain don't mean that much to thee..."  (whatever)

My down comforter has been doing a slow leaking from numerous little holes at seams and edging. I have intermittent down floaters which settle in my hair and all over the place...even  IN my sippy-cup with a cover!  GADS! Time for a new comforter, I'd say.

Oh, hubby told me Nannie was mad because I "corrected her". Pish-Tosh! She keeps getting those robo calls, tries to talk to the recorded voices, listens all the way through the message, and when it says, "If you don't wish to receive our calls, press 9."   But don't.

I read in AARP that when they say to press a number, don't do it, as it is part of a robo-scam. She made a face at me when I was trying tell her (again) that if she hears a recording, just hang up. Useless to explain to her, but I momentarily forgot. 😕  The phone is ringing right now, she let it ring 3 times, but couldn't stand not answering...so she is now speaking to someone about how she is not interested in investing in anything because she's "98" years old (!!!) One of these days that phone will disappear from her chair-side table.

Stars, at least she's not being taken in and spending money.  My doctor used to work for a company that online appointment scheduling.  You could schedule your own rather than talk to a person.  He doesn't have that now and doesn't even have a portal.  I still don't know what my lab work says for my last physical in November.  Hope he looked them up or the lab sent them to him.  He did give me his personal cellphone number which was cool of him.

Nel, the one time I looked outside the hospital was a hospice job and it involved an $8.00 an hour decrease and I could never afford that.  Seems jobs away from the bedside don't pay well.  Hope something comes up for you.  Sorry that you didn't get the best of news from the doctor today.

Dianah is posting some gorgeous pics of her camping trip on Facebook.

Herring, so glad your husband is feeling better.

I got sent home early today around 4pm.  Several surgeons are on vacation and the census dropped and since I had two patients only it was easiest to send me home.  No problem with me.  I had a relaxing afternoon and didn't do much.  Going to give Slowbro a walk and go to bed with a book.

Hi kids,

i am having a very relaxing day off. Slept in, then cleaned in the kitchen, including the fridge. Didya know that asparagus liquifies when left too long? Yeah, gross, I know. Chased the vacuum about, and did a cursory bathroom clean. Once the sun finally came out, I pulled  weeds. Now we are in the park for the first concert of the summer. They claim to play gypsy style jazz and songs by Django Reinhardt. I picked up gyros at food truck that were yummy.

G’nite
