I figured out why I frequently post in the wrong thread.  I'm reading the day prior and I hit "back" and it takes me back to the political forums and I post the Daily Thread there, instead of going to the top to "entries".  Anyway, hopefully this is in the right place.

Nel, enjoy that new matt.  I tried that at home yoga and just am not that disciplined.  I like the heat anyway of hot yoga.

Stars, Nannie is so lucky to have you look out for her.

I had a nice day off.  I went for a 5K run/walk in the morning and hot yoga in the evening.  Rarely do I both in the same day but was feeling fit and ambitious.  Had time because I didn't cook anything has I have plenty of pasta ready for meals the next two days.

Had a nice visit with best friend. Emptied litter box, trash, took out some mail and did laundry.  One more week in his cast.  It's been zero effort whatsoever on my part but will be glad to do some things outside rather than just visit inside.  We talked a lot of politics and had sandwiches.  We're pretty like minded that way.

Set up several appointments.  One was for SlowBro's exam and teeth cleaning which are included in his payment plan that I do monthly.  One was for eye exam.  Already have a dental cleaning on July 8th.

Speaking of retirement, I gave in and made my appointment with my advisor.  They sent a form where I outline my spending goals and other questions.  Unlike some here, I'm in no hurry to retire.  I'd like to work until I'm 70, continue to travel before then.   I'm going to put my current budget in as my goal, but will more than likely be laughed out of the office "you want to retire ever???".  But you gotta start somewhere.

Morning Tweety

Quite tired this morning, not sure why

Yesterday I actually finished all of the vidoes and started doing actual work, entering patients in our system.  Today if all goes according to plan I'll start calling people.  There is still stuff I'm uncertain about, but that seems true of everyone, given how new this is for everyone at the company

Met J at one of our usual places for dinner last night

Tonight will do some grocery shopping and exercise.  Will be nice to get home earlier than I have the past 2 nights.  I'm still adjusting to working out of the office

Weather was warm yesterday, will be a bit cooler the next couple of days but rain should hold off

Biggie's best friend, Robin, aka Rotten Robin, sold for $10,000 to a teenage girl in TN.

He is a lovely horse.

Very playful. I will miss him.

Tony is still with us.😊

Poured down a ton of rain last night.

I walked during the day, and picked out a yoga routine, for my new mat.

My goal is to still take class, but the times are just not convenient with my schedule.

Made black bean tacos last night, and they were really good. Have enough left over for lunch today.

Have a great day, all.

Good morning.

Still a bit sore in the lower back region.  Slept on a heating pad most of the night. No yard work for me.

I'm technically off today except for IDT meeting at noon.

Joe - hope this job fits you well.

Tweety - if we can get all our debt taken care of I'd like to mostly retire when I reach 67 or so.  I've got grandkids and I want to be there to see them more often.  Spidey will be off to college after this next year.  Tomorrow is graduation and he is invitied to a bunch of grad parties of his baseball teammates.

Not much else going on except . . . I need that 2nd cup of coffee.

Have a great Thursday everyone.

It was nice to see my sister. Husband agrees that since he has proven to be honest working for step-Mom and one sister we will have him do our (my) inheritance. Much of the money was earned my our Dad and our Daddy loved my husband.

We will put 2/3 in a trust for our daughter because she cannot earn enough to live here and her brother will administer the trust. Our son knows his sister well. He is MENSA qualified, but not a member. She has "Math Dyslexia" and other disabilities so cannot do math past ten. She uses a calculator to make sure she gets the correct change. She also cannot drive and is mildly autistic. Still she has always been employed at a minimum wage job.

$150,000.00 is a LOT of money to us, and we didn't plan for it. Other than extra charitable donations we don't know what we will do with the money not going into the trust. She won't need it until we are both dead.

Hi all,

Just another day, living the dream.  Life is good and I really have nothing to complain about.  I plan on retiring the day I turn 67.  I may continue to work part time, but no more full time gigs for me.  I'm fortunate in that I have a pension from a previous job that should cover my housing costs.  I've been putting as much as I can in my 401k.  I'll be able to live simply and travel some, especially if I move to a less expensive area of the country.  We'll have to see where our kids and potential grandchildren end up.

Tweety-I hope BF will venture out once the cast is off.  I don't now him, but I'm a little concerned that he might be depressed, as he doesn't want to go out.  You know better and state he's happy, so I should stop worrying about him, 😂.

Joe-Glad things are going well so far.

Spidey's Mom-I hope your back feels better.

Nel-I hope you can find a good yoga class.  I need to get myself to yoga more frequently.  I have done some classes via TV, but I tend to cheat and flop down on my mat too much.

Herring-I love that you're taking care of DD and making some charitable donations. I think talking to an advisor is a good idea. I'd love to come into an unexpected windfall, and have fun giving it away.  I do like to travel, but I don't need extravagance in other areas of my life.  I'd be happy to pay off my mortgage and some other debts.

Hope all are having a great day!

Good Afternoon! It is hot, humid, and overcast, but the sun keeps peeking out. We are still awaiting the promised rain. Supposed to be some thunderstorms and heavy rains but the weather forecasting has been off track for the last week. Will believe what the weather will be when I see it!

Hubby got up early, then decided, after he gave Nannie her meds and breakfast, he was going back to bed. Nannie fell asleep in the recliner after her breakfast. I woke up and the house was so quiet!

Decided I would go to the library to return two books, and find out about a book club. The book they've started for this month is one I've already read,  by Lisa Gardner, and I kind of think it was one I didn't particularly care for.  I wanted to be in the club that reads mostly fiction,  history and bio/auto-bios. They only meet once a month; don't know how long the meetings last or exact date/time. The branch I go to is only about 5 miles away, which is nice.

Their choice for next month is by John Hart, "The Last Child" and it is possible I have already read it, too. Books and are kind of like what I call 'Coca-Cola for the brain', in that they keep my busy head entertained. I do remember a good author so I can read everything they have written.

I read world-issue related things in magazines (The WEEK is my favorite) and on-line/TV/newspapers, but I become exasperated easily and have to do a week-long bail-out on current events lest I short-circuit.

I told the librarian I was relatively new to the area and know very few local people; she said, "Well you'll enjoy the club. They have a lot of fun."  Yup, that's what I need! FUN!

My book club meets once a month, Stars. As most of us work, we need the four weeks to read a book.

I bet you can find an online book club.

My political campaign friend, whose husband fell and broke a hip, texted me he is back in the hospital.

He apparently fell, three times, his first night at the SNF rehab.

I told her to be prepared to spend the night with him,as he has Alzheimer disease.

She didn't listen to my advise.

We share a cleaning person, and she told me the husband's cognitive capacities, are much less than what I was lead to believe.

I have never met the husband.

My guess is, he either needs round the clock care, or admission full-time to a Memory Diorders facility.

After falling and breaking a hip, he obviously can't spend hours upon hours alone.

I walked this afternoon. It is so humid. Not hot, just humid.

I bought Talli a large fan, to go outside his stall, and more fly spray.

That stuff is going to give me cancer!

Have any of you tried Hint bottled water?

I've been drinking it for a week, and really like it.

We are watching Atlanta play Pittsburgh, doing poorly again. Nannie is more irritated than ever because she doesn't understand why there are FOUR (!) teams playing and why are there so many people on the field and "they keep moving and changing around". We said there are only two teams.... which take turns being on the field, or up at bat, and the others are base-umpires, base-coaches, and bat-boys.  But they did not used to check calls in slow-motion with multiple camera angles, nor did they change pitchers quite so often as they do now, so in a way it could be called a 'different' game now.

The mail came, with Nannie's Edward Jones statement ... she is cross because she thinks they are telling her she needs to pay to them, the amount of her balance. She started to read the statement out loud during the game; I blocked my ears, and hubby said we are watching the ballgame and he would look at the statement and explain it to her LATER. Now they are both irritated with each other, but at least this time, "IT AIN'T ME, BABE!"😉

Bbzzzzzt! Outta here....

Hi,

it is partly sunny today, despite a forecast of rain. Temp is only 60. The bathrooms are clean, floors swept and vacuumed, a bit of dusting or un-dusting (as Amelia Bedelia would say), 2 loads of laundry done. I have a weird ache in my side, so I am taking a little break.

This may sound a little morbid, but people in my family don't live very long, so I would like to enjoy some retirement. My mom died at 67, her mom I think was 50, and my dad's mom died at 50. Plus, with this stupid slow heart rate I am just tired.

In terms of wildlife, I haven't seen any squirrels about lately. But lots of birds: finches, wrens, robins, nuthatches, gulls, crows, hummingbirds. And I often see bald eagles and hawks on my drive to work.  And butterflies, dragon flies, and bumblebees.

Take care all,

j22

Tonight we saw a third flying squirrel, perhaps the baby one as it looks smaller. After dark, when hubby locks the suet cakes in a metal box, he also puts out at their most frequently visited trees and feeders, a lot of foods flying squirrels like to eat...walnuts, peanuts, fruit pieces,  dried meal worms, sunflower seeds, and goodness knows what all else. They sure like the feeding area he sets up specifically for them! It's either a full family or the word has spread that this is "the place to go" for good food. Maybe a whole community of flying squirrels will set up camp nearby! We can observe them with a flashlight that is bright enough to see them, but not so bright as to scare them off. They are cute lil thangs!

A neighbor is going to lend us his backyard camera that is motion activated and it  films with night-vision lighting that the critters can't see. He had his yard under surveillance, but he said all they ever saw on the film was moths and other bugs....with an occasional bat zipping by, grabbing it's meals. He will help set it up for us.

I was right, it's been a raccoon getting the suet cakes!  We saw it today around 5-ish, like after sundown but before dark. It was out in plain view on the ground chowing down on birdseed. Kind of scruffy looking, but no reason a wild raccoon would resemble the raccoons we had at the museum where I worked in Nashville; ours were spoiled by a varied and  Vet recommended ideal diet and they had such shiny, gorgeously thick fur. (As did our opossums)

The raccoon we saw here wasn't acting weird, just eating away. Hubby worries that maybe it could have rabies, but it wasn't acting strange, other than being out before dark. Husband shot BB's all around it to stir up the dust often enough to make the raccoon decide to beat it down the hill into the woods. Fortunately hubby qualifies at the range with 98% accuracy, so he  IS able to miss it on purpose. But I feel bad about chasing it away. You know, though, that it will sneak back to fill up on whatever, after our house goes dark and quiet for the night.

There is a scrawny stray cat that skulks around sometimes, which hubby doesn't want around the bird feeders trying to nab a meal of one of "his" birds. He jumps up and gets loud, "YOU get away from here, NOW!"  and chases at the cat so it will run off.

I would like to be able to feed ALL those critters, but hubby and Nannie are both vehemently against 'inviting them to come back." No place I can hide food and water without it being seen/noticed. Hubby and Nannie go around the yard almost every day and  notice changes, etc. Phooey!

There is no fenced area in which to let out the dogs, so they are always on leash. At least we can avoid interaction between them and the wildlife. Pippy frequently likes to go over and sniff under the feeders, so I'll bet the raccoon leaves interesting scents there.

There is something I have been meaning to mention to y'all, but every single time I get on line, whatever it was eludes me. Frustrating!  Maybe if I am lucky enough to remember for long enough to write it down in my 'brain' (notebook), I'll get it told sooner or later...

Getting late; dogs went to be an hour and a half ago. Time for me to sit in bed to read a while before I decide I'm tired enough to go to sleep.

Wowie ciao-y! See yez tomolly!

My back aches as well.  Not as bad as yesterday but still.

Spidey and his friend Jose are just now finishing up working on tearing down the house behind us.  Spidey took Jose home and I'm broiling some fish for him.

We've got birds and bugs galore.  Love this time of year except for the mosquitoes.

Headed to bed.  I hope everyone gets a good night's sleep.
