Good Morning!

It's 2:42 AM (EST) in this part of the world. I am cramming for the 8-hour Skills Days that I'll be doing later today at work. It's probably not good that I'm up doing last-minute reviewing. (That "sleepy-eyed" feeling will probably hit me around 9:00 AM, later this morning.) But such is life for the night-worker. I'm often up at 2:00 AM on my nights off from work. Looking forward to getting this Skills Day over with. Being anxious about this Skills Day thing, I told my loving wife that I might call in and postpone doing this until later this year. She sternly told me, "Ted! You're going! I need the house to myself!!" She quickly explained that she needs to practice her lines and music for the up-coming musical that she's in ("The Great American Traitor Park Musical"). (Rehearsals start this Friday.) Well, being officially kicked out of the house for the day, I guess there's no backing out of this. I'm doing the Skills Day thing! L O L! 😄

Nothing much else going on. . . Gonna continue on with the reviewing.

Peace, folks! 🙂

Ted

Good Morning Ted!

When these Mrs. speaks, you must obey.  I'm sure you've learned this.  😂.  Plus you'll be glad you'll get it done.

Stars, it's amazing when those old folks get into that manic dementia how little they can sleep.  It's not surprising she got out of the "unremovable cast".  I remember back int he day of restraints, one could wrist restrain a patient, or posey vest them to with all kinds of knots and tricks and two minutes lady the Houdini's would be out of them on the floor.

Working today.  Shouldn't be too horrible as it's a light day for one of surgeon's that usually does a lot of cases today because he's on trauma call.

GM everyone. Insomnia is a thing I have, too. After working night shift over 10 years my body sometimes reverts itself back to the old program. I'm sure I'll be a hoot in PT this morning. Grumpy, tired, and sleepy all at the same time. I feel for them. LMAO

Ted, the Mrs. said you don't have to go do skills but you have to get up out of there! 🤣

Tweety, never say the Q (quiet) or G (good) words because all hell will break loose. It's an unspoken curse for chaos to erupt.

Morning Ted Tweety.  Welcome NurseBlaq

Fairly ordinary day at work.  J had to cancel on dinner as his stomach was acting up again.  It was probably the stress of trying to get his houseguest to the airport on time in rush hour traffic that caused that.

So I went grocery shopping instead

Slept well last night, no smoke detectors going off this time

Should be a fairly ordinary day today, will exercise once I get home and probably work on my cross stitch

Rain is still holding off but is slowly getting warmer

Morning-

It's my late day so I don't go in until 10.  I slept much better last night without a ukelele serenade.  The cats behaved and I didn't have any funky dreams.  I work today and tomorrow, and then I'm off for a week.  No solid plans other than to spend as much time as possible on the beach.  I hope the weather cooperates.  I need to get back in my exercise routine.  My right knee is still very sore from the fall took about 10 days ago.  I think it's just soft tissue soreness, but if it's not getting better in another a few days I'll have it looked at.

Ted-I'm sure you'll pass skills day with flying colors.

Tweety-Hope you're out on time tonight after a decent day.

NurseBlaq-Go easy on your PT person, 😂!!  And welcome to the insomnia club!  There's quite a few members here.

Joe-That's great that you're keeping up with the exercise.

Stars-I'm also not shocked that Nannie was able to get the brace off.  Is hard casting the wrist an option?

Hi to everyone else who stops by.  Have a good day.

Ted . . . 🤭 Not gonna say it.

Good morning Ted, Tweety, NB, BC, Joe and all who follow!

Sorry about the insomnia club we seem to have here on AN.  Is it a manifestation of aging?  I heard the tail end of a show on Doctor Radio about insomnia and I'm curious enough that I'm going to listen to the recorded show today.  I fell right to sleep last night but woke at 03 to pee.  Then couldn't fall back to sleep.  The light was coming in the windows at 05 so I got OOB and made coffee.  And here I sit.

It was a quiet day for us yesterday so we all went home an hour early.  I'm still on call until 07.

Tweety - (yesterday's thread) . . .that's hard when you get shot down when you know you are doing your best.  Sorry about that.

(((Stars)))

BC - I'd love to have a break from work.  We still haven't found a replacement for our nurse on disability and I'm getting a bit worn out.  I know you'll enjoy your time off.

Ok time for my 2nd cup of coffee.  Hope everyone's Thursday goes well.

I hereby claim that I won't ever, ever, ever help anybody OFF the toilet, ever again. Especially a person named Nannie.

My lower back is stiff, aching, painful, sore, and compromises my ability to stand up straight. I am planted on the sofa with a cold pack at my back; it's been in the freezer all night, but it just doesn't feel cold enough. Waiting for the Meloxicam and Tylenol to kick in.

Nannie fell twice again this morning. God forgive my wicked thoughts.

Stars-You and DH need to get some help with her before you both end up in the hospital.  FWIW-I'm thinking wicked thoughts about her, too.

Nannie needs help! Tell DH he's going to get her help and he will deal. Yes, he loves her but he needs to love her enough to seek help before she truly hurts herself and..... I won't say the outcome because I don't want to speak it into existence but you get the point.

This! DH needs to realize getting help doesn't mean giving up.

I agree.  I know your husband made promises but sometimes those promises are not in the best interest of the person.

As hospice, we see this a lot.  As an ER nurse, I saw it a lot too. Heck, as a nurse period, I saw it.

My own mom ended up with dementia and became violent as well as finding ways to sneak out of the house and walk up a busy highway for almost 2 miles.  We had to make different choices for her and admit her to a lock-down facility for her safety.  Heartbreaking but necessary.

She isn't safe at home, you guys are going to get hurt, it is time to change directions here.

^^^   This.  Wish I could like it a thousand times.

I heartily  agree with everyone about more help with/for Nannie. She obviously isn't safe at home(and neither is Stars or hubby) and sounds it like she's having a serious break with reality. My father's decline was similar to what Steph has described. We tried to keep him in his own home, but did eventually move him to a secured facility.
