Good Morning!

Stars, hope that you've heard from your husband by now.  Long wait times are occurring in our ERs around here as well.  Hope he's home by now.

I had a good day off alone.  Would have like to do more housework but got lazy.  Made some spaghetti and packed some lunches of beans and quinoa.  Work today and tomorrow.  Not sure what awaits me but it is what it is.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning Tweety

NJ22 glad you got off early

Stars I hope your dh is home now and that you didn't have to pick him up in the middle of the night

Another fairly good and quiet day at work yesterday.  Hope that trend continues

Grocery shopping after work and exercise, before online Bible study.   We've finished Romans and will start Isaiah.

Got the final Covid results, negative as expected

Severe weather  expected last night, so I had my NOAA weather radio on.  No alerts last night which is good, I think the worst of it missed us

Not much going on tonight after work except the usual exercise and embroidery

Another fairly warm day, in the upper 80s, though I think after today it's going to be cooler

Hubby called me at 10 minutes 'til 2 AM, so I went to pick him up. Very weird driving at that time of night, as the roads were virtually deserted, and nothing looks familiar when it's all dark. The high beams made signs really, really BRIGHT, but unreadable.

Basically, the discharge report said: "New blunting of left costophrenic angle concerning for effusions/pleural thickening", and "Slight increase in central vascular congestion, left greater than right. No evidence of pneumothorax." and "Examination is otherwise stable."  Also: "You answered some questions about your alcohol use today. Your answers show you have a high chance of having a health problem due to your drinking. You could get a disease caused by alcohol use. You may also have physical or emotional trauma from the use of alcohol." (Then there was a half of a sentence which did not continue on the next page.) I tried to lighten up things a little when I told him that in all the years we've been married, he never told me he had a 'costophrenic angle.' He said he hadn't been keeping anything from me, but he just never knew he had a "schizophrenic angle". Oooookay, then.

So, anyway, he had no temp, O2 sat was 96, lung sounds clear, EKG fine, somewhat high BP, and a bit high blood sugar (197), given the fact that he'd barely eaten all day long. The doc said that it was "probably" his COPD and emphysema causing his S.O.B. and cough. When he got home, he ate, finally, and we got to bed around 3 AM.

I told him my theory about him spending so much time outside in the heat and humidity; the TV weather person had said at 6 PM last night that the air quality was NOT GOOD and could affect anyone w/ certain health problems. I said that he was going to have to spend less time outside, especially today when it is supposed to get up to around 98-100 degrees and I'm sure the air quality is once again quite PFFTTT! The air feels 'heavy' even to me, now, mid-day. Even though he would be just sitting outside, doing so as much as he usually does, is unhealthy. Plus he needs to really monitor his smoking!!! I KNOW he isn't going to quit smoking, but he needs to cut WAY down. Of course the first thing he did when he got into the car last night was light up a cigarette -- he'd gone about 8 hours without smoking, so~~~guess he'll be finding out as time goes on what he's dealing with by carrying on the way he has been carrying on. (smh.) Reaping what he has sown will not be easy, I'm sure. He even has a Nicotine inhaler, but 'doesn't like it." Hmmph. I know that the ritual of holding a cigarette, lighting up and inhaling the smoke is not the same when you use an alternate way of getting the nicotine, like gum, a patch or an inhaler. But I can't make up his mind for him. I can only hope this episode has enlightened him a little, y'know?

1 PM~ I heard him stirring about upstairs, getting dressed. He said he feels pretty good this morning. So,I said, 'Let's KEEP it that way!!!'

Nannie and I are watching a ball game. Braves lost 2-1 last night. I can't imagine playing baseball during the day, with the heat and humidity like it is. UGH!

All for now. Hope y'all are having a tolerable week!

No Stars, thank you for the update on your dh.  Good it wasn't anything acutely dangerous.  Only 😉 chronically dangerous (as you have described).   Good he is feeling better.  Too bad those alcohol and nicotine cravings can't just QUIT, OK???  Some of my patients who have quit smoking tell me it happened all at once.  Others struggled for awhile with quitting.  Sending hugs and support for you (and him).

Joe, good the Covid test was negative.  That takes a load of worry off.  Isaiah should be interesting!  Romans is sure packed!!

Hiya Tweety, and all who venture here.

Have a nice evening.

stars - sorry to hear about Hubs. Weather may have just caught up with him!

We are being blitzed central NJ. Area just north confirmed tornado touchdown. I knew all the designated areas. My sisters were also in tornado warning area - had retreated to their basement. Still storming further southeast towards the shore.
