Morning Tweety

NJ22 have a good trip

Stars you seem to be having a lot of storms there

Amo I used to use a weighted blanket

BC that's really hot

Well, I'm back home, ready to start work and hoping nothing will be too crazy today.  Didn't sleep as well as usual last night, probably due to sleep schedule being different while on vacation

The reunion went pretty well.  Quite warm but the rain held off while were were there, only really rained Tuesday night.  Had a brief ceremony to spread some of my mom's ashes there.  Will likely do the same after my dad passes away.  Went on some hikes, had meals together, hung out

To be honest, by the 3rd day I was pretty tired of hanging out with family.  Which was probably exacerbated by the fact that J and I drove my dad and his ladyfriend to and from the reunion.  Guess it just shows you can have too much time with family

And I think I've gotten a little tired of this particular state park.  We've been there so many times and there is only a limited number of things to do there. Hopefully future events will be held elsewhere

Got home later than expected but was still able to unpack everything and pick up groceries at Trader Joe's.

Today will do laundry and exercise

Weather will be nice, in the 70s, though will be up to 90 by Sunday.  Rain should hold off

Morning-

We had some spectacular thunder and lightning last night. The cats were pretty spooked. It's cooled off a bit, with temps only in the 80s.  It will be in the 60s tomorrow.  I'm off Fri-Mon.  We are going to apply for our marriage license tomorrow.  Stuff's getting real, lol.

Joe-Glad you had a good trip.  I hear you about too much time with family.  I'm glad you were able to have a nice ceremony for your mother.

Tweety-I hope today goes well for you.

Hope all have a great day!

Tweety, Hope your two days of work go smoothly.

Joe, Yep - we are in the usual summer weather pattern. Was pretty much the same when we live up in the mountains. // The way we used to do our family reunion (small family of Mom and us 4 kids) was that two of us kids (and spouses) would go the first week. Then the second week the other two of us (and spouses) would arrive. The third week, the first two of us would leave, then the other two left at the end of the fourth week. So we were ALL together for one week -- which is about the limit of our 'togetherness' tolerance. But we haven't gotten together since my Mom died (2010). My oldest brother's wife got Alzheimer's and had some heart problems. She had to be put in a nsg home because he had a heart-attack from all the stress of caring for her, and then she passed. Sister and BiL are poor as church-mice and couldn't manage $ to either be off work or travel. Hubby and I had trouble w/our finances and getting screwed by our mortgage holder, and then we moved down here to do Nannie-Duty. Younger bro and his wife living out in CA resented being the ones who had to travel the furthest, so have not done so. Then all the weather and fire problems in CA kept them having to move about 4 or 5 times to find a place that wasn't getting smoke from the various fires all the time. I'll probably see my sister again, but I doubt I'll ever get to visit w/ either brother in this lifetime. But that's okay.

Oh my, BCg, y'all are getting pretty close to LEGAL!

Going to trot out to get hubby some nasal spray (he often has sinus problems and needs a quick snort just prior to bedtime), and I need some generic Ex.Str.Tylenol (quick dissolving, fast acting, but not polyunsaturated, pleasant tasting OR green and purple pills, ala Jeremiah Peabody's brand). Got to get my bubblegum (Hubba-Bubba) so I can chomp and blow bubbles in the PM. I keep my 'addiction to bubblegum' under control by not chewing in the daytime or in public!

No baseball games tonight. But after winning 20-2 last night we can tolerate a day's wait until the next games. Not sure who they are playing next...maybe Phillies again?

I may attack Nannie's gigantic, thick, curly toenail on the fourth toe of the right foot. (Maybe.) It NEEDS to be eliminated!!! But I dunno if I will do it today ... I'm not particularly anxious to do it, but I would like to get it out of the way and off my mind, y'know?

So, 4th of July plans? Staying home and not going anywhere. Avoiding the crowds and drunk-drivers, and blocking off as much of the fire-crackers and fireworks noise as we can by having the TV on a tad loud, and the den drapes closed, and the dog treated with Rescue Remedy. Sounds exciting, eh?

Hope all stay well and contented.

herring,YOU are under orders to improve that vision and come home to us where you belong! (please!)

Today's Nature News:

We watched Momma Bird meet Poppa Bird on the telephone wires above the driveway, she fluttered her wings and he 'fed' her the bugs he'd been collecting, then she came over to where her nest is, in the hanging-plant basket above our heads, and her 3 babies set up a ruckus of very high-pitched peeping. She fed 'em and took off again to get more food for them. It won't be too long 'til they start to learn to fly and leave the nest. // Then we saw a pregnant skink. Her belly stuck out on both sides like a pregnant cow, 'cept maybe not so big... Anyway, as we were watching her, she raised her tail and pooped. Can any of you say you've watched a skink poop? // Then we saw a teeny-tiny baby Praying (preying?) Mantis; I have never ever seen such a small mantis before -------------- < it was that long, no kidding, and about that thin, too. Teensy! // Last night hubby was sitting on a bench in his bedroom; he has it so he can open the window and sort of lean on the window-sill. He said there was a huge owl in the trees to the side of the house just a'hootin' away, and suddenly if flew down and swooped past the window about six feet away from him. It flew to another tree on the other side of the yard and was quiet after that. // And Ozzie's feeling crummy, been sleeping a LOT, so I am going to go pick up his monthly Clyndamycin at the vet's office early tomorrow, cause it is due. I would have gone today but they were just closing when I called.

So far, no thunderstorms moving through, but the evening is still young.

What kind of bird (?) is a skink? Never heard of it and am too lazy to google. Think I saw an owl some long time back. Birds were all making a squark in our yard one early morning. All of a sudden a bird took off out of our pine tree - had the BIGGEST wingspan I ever saw. HUGE!!! I'm guessing it was an owl, or it could have been some eagle or other similar bird of prey.

Recommendation - really recommending a brand (Vigo) of coconut ginger rice. Only 8 oz bag, so no big quantity. But it is sooo good. My HHA will boil up a bag for me - she even likes it. Suggesting y'all try it.

Really WICKED weather earlier. We made TV for tornado warnings. Pretty much so-so weather around here, but the TV & specialists made serious  about it. So nauseatingly hot; temp sup to bo coming down.  I don't know how you West Coasters are managing?!?!

Dost thou REALLY think I would put my not-much-sense-of-smell nose over an uncooked-rice-sized piece of skink poop?

BTW: A skink is a little lizard, an anole, in fact, of which there are many kinds.
