Good Morning! :)

It's 4:30 AM (EST) here.

I'm at work. Our happy, teeny-tiny ICU has no patients. The Med/Surg floor doesn't have any telemetry patients to monitor. My ICU co-worker is up in Maternity because there was a sick-call on nights there. Me? I'm in the ER as I type this happy "Good Morning" thread. Here in our happy ER, there are two patients. Both have been cleared to be discharged home once they "sleep it off". (I guess the local bars were offering "2 for 1"???) Of course, anything can happen in the ER. But if tradition follows itself tonight, the likelihood of someone coming in is low at this time of night here. Of course all hell is probably gonna break loose because I'm typing these dangerous comments.

One more night of work then I'm actually off for 6 whole nights. As mentioned in yesterday's "Good Morning" thread, Amy will be traveling to Florida to visit with her mother and take care of legal stuff. Hopefully the weather will be in her favor. Amy said that the first thing she's going to do once she gets settled in is hit the beach! LOL! Hope the temperature outside will be welcoming for any beach-hitting LOL! I'm looking forward to finishing some projects that need to be completed. Of course that are the two music-composition projects I keep mentioning that I hope to finish in the not too distant future. However, BOTH of my nursing licenses need to be renewed by my birthday (in March). (I hold nursing licenses in NY and MA.) Both have all kinds of criteria that need to be met before I can renew them. I'll be focusing on getting those renewals done during the next few days.

Honestly? Nothing much really going on. Life has been the "same-old, same-old". Can't complain. There's no need to complain. I'm just looking forward to have several days off in a row which is always a nice treat when it happens.

I know that there's a small bunch, here, that are going through some extra-ordinary times. I hope that all is well as you work through stressful issues. Most certainly will keep you in warm thoughts and prayers. I know that I might sound redundant, but I simply wish a certain level of Peace for all of us as life brings us the trials and tribulations. Wamrest regards to all. . . :)

Ted

Good Morning to Ted and Those who Follow.

And a Good Morning! to those who Just Read the Good Morning Thread.

But also to Those who Have No Clue, I Wish you, too, a Good Morning.

You know, I was going to Do Something and now I've Forgotten What It was.

Lessee... Hmmmm... I Just Can't Remember! I Hate It when This Happens!

Wait a Minute... Maybe it's Good that I've Forgotten What I was going to do...

Maybe I was going to do Somethng Illegal. Or Immoral. Or Unethical! Or maybe just Downright Mean and Nasty!

WHEW! That's a Relief! My Poor Memory has kept me on the Straight and Narrow!

I feel Better now, thanks.

Have a Good Day.

Well, I thought I was going to be the first one on with a "heart's NOT a beatin" post.

Waiting for my coffee so I can head out the door to a patient death. Can't drive under the influence of sleepiness. And yes Davey. . . .dizzy via equilibrium. :dead:

Why do people always so "sorry" when I get awakened in the middle of the night? The nurse who called me said it and my dh said it when he woke up to ask if I was leaving for a patient visit? I'm . . . on . . . . call. Duh.

Well, there's the coffee. Off I go - it drizzled a bit of rain overnight so not too cold out there.

Have a lovely day! :wavey:

This may be a Stretch and I may be Going Out on a Limb here, steph, but I THINK People say "sorry" when they wake you in the Middle of the Night because, well, they Empathise with your Situation.

You know, MOST People don't Like to be Awakened in the Middle of their Sleep Cycle.

I Don't Know. Maybe you just need to have your Coffee.

We'll Talk about it later.

Love you too.

Good Morning Ted, Davey, Stephanie and those who pop in,

Ted I am praying your night continues as it has but you sure are brave putting your thoughts on paper. Lock the doors!! LOL So you had a few in the ED that did not know when to say 'nuff was 'nuff huh? Have awesome 6 days off should be able to achieve your goals over that time eh?

Davey hope your day is going to be a good one and you do remember what it was you were either going to do or say. LOL Poor memory recall is not good!!! LOL

Stephanie I hope you did not have to go too far to your on call visit. Rarely did our on call Triage RN say she was sorry, if you are on call the likely hood of getting sent out was pretty high. We now have a designated group of RN's who do all the running so apart from holidays there will be no on call for us now.

Feeling much better today, although slight cough and feeling blah, temp is down so I am very happy about that. Planning on resting today but will take the dogs outside for a run around, I did that with them yesterday afternoon and they just went crazy running and catching Frisbees/ balls etc. Was nice to see them play and act happy.

I have a new carbon steel wok which I have seasoned and now planning to make some nice meals for da man, tonight I am thinking of a shrimp dish with Chinese noodles. Have to get a few more items but the recipe is in my head and I want to try it out for hubby tonight. I also have this awesome wok recipe book which makes me drool when I read it. LOL

Hope those that are unwell, under the weather, stressed etc find so me peace and are heading in the right direction.

May you all have a most excellent day.

Much love to you all.

Morning Ted Davey Steph

An OK day for me at work, still behind but learning to accept it. The pace is slowing down a bit. Also found out that by next month I'll be working from home, the process of getting ready has already begun. That will save me a lot of time.

Have to find some online CEUs fairly soon, I realize my license is up for renewal in May

Did the laundry last night, will do the shopping tonight. Hopefully the trains will be on time today, there've been late the last few days due to the weather.

Good morning all.

Was busy yesterday dealing with getting the truck inspected, it failed, as expected. Getting the work done today. needed to get the inspection done as the registration ran out 12/31. Now it is good for a month until I get it in to reinspect.

Today I will be busy. I will take my neighbor to her appointment, we will go do lunch, and then go and pick up my new glasses. The eye doc told me my eyes are in great shape for a person my age. I do take vit. with Lutein. I hope it helps. My eyes have gotten very dry so I may need to get tear duct plugs or something. I use plain drops freq. and ointment at night but still not comf. I am thankful I have decent vision. It is one of my biggest fears, that I would lose sight or hearing. My hearing is going but not too bad, yet. Ah, the pleasures of aging.

While we are out and about all day, another friend will be taking the truck to get fixed. So, by the end of the day I will have cool glasses, a truck that will pass inspection and a fun time out with my neighbor, who also happens to be a close friend.

As the polar vortex leaves we are up to 23F. It will be very warm over the weekend.

Sabby, glad you are on the mend, now stay taking it easy today. Ted, hope the shift ended well, and it remained mellow. Hope Amy can enjoy the beach. Joe, other than commuting, what do you think of working from home?

More coffee needed. Have a wonderful day.

I equate it with having to call the doc on call at 0300 and starting off with "I'm sorry to wake you" . . . hey, he's on call. :bored:

But yeah, I get the "empathy" thing. Thanks. Love you too.

Here's a funny thing - the son of the patient and I were talking and found out he and my husband went to high school together and he told me some pretty funny high school escapades . .. .can't wait until dh wakes up.

Good morning!

People always say sorry to me when I'm on call, too. Um..it's my job..it's what I'm here for. Human nature, I guess. My morning has been fairly "Q". I've seen a couple of sick kids, but that's about it. The afternoon looks a bit busier. I'm off tomorrow and need to get afew things done. Renew my passport, buy rabbit food, go to the library. I'm working Sunday in Urgent Care, but other than that, not much planned for the weekend.

Ted, I hope Amy has a good trip and you enjoy your 6 days off. Davey, I'm glad your memory, or lack thereof, is keeping you on the stragiht and narrow. Sabby-glad you're feeling better. Don't overdo it! AKY-enjoy your day. Get some snazzy new glasses! Joe-how do you feel about working from home? I'm not sure I'd do so well. I need more structure, and I would probably never get out of my bathrobe. Hi Steph-did you get some good dirt on DH from your patient's son?

Guess I should get some paperwork done. I hope all are well. Stay warm and have a good day.

I'll take my car for an oil change today.. Worked 11:00 pm to 3:00 am last night.

I'm so glad the polar vortex is going north where it belongs.

We here in Los Angeles near the ocean are expecting a high of 61 F today.

Strange. My Computer wouldn't allow me to Quote steph, but did allow me to quote BCgradnurse:

People always say sorry to me when I'm on call, too. Um..it's my job..it's what I'm here for.

Obviously, we are Polite People who live in, Generally, a Polite Society.

If I Belch (have an Eructation) or Pass Gas (Expel Flatulence) around Somebody, I say something like, "Sorry!" even though these are Typical Biological Functions.

If I follow steph and BC's Line of Thinking, I could just say, "Hey! I Undergo Peristalsis... I'm... Um... Human. It's what I do!"

You know?

Otherwise, if I'm with People I don't have a Need to be Polite with, I say Things like, "URP! Sorry, I meant to Puke!" or, "BLAT! Who stepped on a Duck?!"

Okay?

Davey Do - There's nothing like "Polite Society".

I like the word "masticate". I use it in as many social settings as I possibly can. No explanations. No apologies. Why? Because masticating is one of my favorite things to do. I especially like to masticate steak and potatoes that have been well seasoned. But the diet varies. I also like to masticate Chinese cuisine. Afterwards, there's the usual eructation and/or flatulence. But first? It's masticate. Don't worry, though. In keeping with "Polite Society", I masticate with my mouth closed.

:D
