Good Morning!

Joe, glad the cat's limping is better and not getting worse.

BC, glad you're feeling better and hope you have a good rest of the week.

Ted, be sure to give Nel my best.  Sorry we couldn't meet up when your dad lived down here.

Good luck NB in classes.  What are you talking?  I forget.

J22, sorry that the pacemaker site is slow to heal.  You're not reacting to the dressing are you?

Herring, sorry you didn't sleep.  Hope you're resting better.

Ted, love the video!  Amy looks great in front of the camera.

Dianah, that 30 minutes earlier will be a pain, but nice if you get out on time.

Shift one of five went okay.  Started off with two patients on one side, then moved over to the other side and took a couple of other post op patients.  We had decent staffing.  One of my patient's complained of chest pain at the last minute, so I was late getting out.  He's 48 but has had 7 stents because of bad living and hereditary he said, so I took him seriously.  It was more than like GI because he had been vomiting post anesthesia and just ate a dinner roll and was wrenching.  I was sitting pretty easy about to get out on time before that happened.

Manager got a nurse to come in tomorrow 11-7 and a float team nurse is scheduled, so there's a good chance I won't get my overtime tomorrow if our census is low.  I really want it but I don't want it.  I'm getting to old for this.  This is where I don't like having just my own income in this house, but like BC was saying my house went up so much in value along with all the other property here I can't downgrade without paying more money.

Morning Tweety

Helped train a new employee at work, she seems promising

Cat continues to improve, seems almost back to normal

Had a bit of a surprise at the pharmacy at the cost of one of my meds with the new insurance.  Afterwards I figured out that they hadn't put the new insurance in the system, they were still using the GoodRx discount I was using before the new insurance kicked in.  Will have to get them to fix that

Talked to J, his flight was very late last night but he did have a good trip.  We're going to see a play this Sunday, so it's going to be a busy weekend for me.  We'll get together Friday as we usually do

Weather will be in the 70s for the next few days which should be nice

Good Morning!

Tweety - Nothing like those "end of shift" situations that require immediate attention like complaints of chest pain, or vomiting, or falling out of bed (or chair), or a new run of V-tach, or a sudden unexpected drop of blood pressure, etc., etc., etc. (Ugh!) It seems that the old saying is true: "If it's going to happen, it's going to happen at the end of the shift!" (Ugh!) Still, it's good to read that your 1st of 5 work-days went well. Hopefully you'll get call today - or not get call today - whichever works best fo you. L O L!

Joe - Good to read that the new employee that you helped train seems promising. We've had the rare occasion when a new ICU Nurse (and not necessarily a new RN), just wasn't working out for the job. It's sad for them, actually, and frustrating for our teeny-tiny ICU. Because we are small, and with very limited resources, our ICU team needs to be fairly high-functioning. Sounds nice that you and J are going to see a play Sunday. Curious. What play are you going to see?

Recently woke up. Still in a sleepy-daze. . . Need First Coffee. . .

Going to work tonight for the 1st of 4 nights in a row. With the exception of doing 4 nights in a row, I'm ready to work. Having 7 nights off was a rare luxury! I wasn't always productive during those 7 nights off, but that time off was nice and restful (with the exception of mowing the other day). Hopefully tonight will be relatively "Q". In the meanwhile, it'll be the usual "Sleep, Eat, Work" thing for me until Monday. (Sunday, I'll be my usual whiny self because of BOTH church and work that day. I'm even ready for that, too! Been doing those Sundays for as long as I've been nursing!)

Hope all have a nice day today! 🙂

Morning-

Very humid and sticky out today.  My hair is very big, 😂.  Did not sleep that well last night.  Hopefully tonight will be better.

I had an end of shift incident , too, yesterday.  Our last allergy shot patient had a reaction.  It was a child, and he developed hives and angioedema after his shot.  A little epi, a little Benadryl, and he was back to rights in no time.  Sent him home with a few doses of prednisone.  I ended up staying about 45 minutes late to ensure he was ok.  He's relatively new to shots and I think ragweed was the culprit.  We'll cut his dose next time.

Tweety-I hope you get what you want work-wise tomorrow.

Joe-What play are you going to see?

Ted-I hope your first night back is good to you.

Off to work I go.  Have a great day!

Good morning nurses!

BCgradnurse: I'm sorry you didn't sleep well last night.

I hardly slept the night before. Had a good sleep last night.

Night before last I had gas from cabbage soup. I kept going into the bathroom to fart with a few drops. One time of diarrhea too. We almost never run much water. Husband woke up at 2:30 am to find a wet floor when he put his feet down. (It happened a couple times before with less water. He called the plumber yesterday morning and I cleaned the wet floor.

Turns out a pipe under the house that is about a yard below the floor has a leak. When the toilet flushed  water sprayed up to the floor. Because I flushed more that night the water came through to the floor. The will replace it today and tomorrow. It will cost $3,300.00.

I put a gallon of water in the refrigerator because the water may be off most of the day.

Glad not to be tired today.

herring, That was very expensive cabbage soup!!!

Wonder why whatever person starts this thread each A.M. always has this after their name above the day and date: "(New Member)"  Just wondering, because it seems kinda weird.

The BID dose of Nannie's medicine is REALLY helping her anger issue, which makes life a whole lot easier. She's still confused, forgetful, and asks things repetitively, BUT she still has her exo brace on; has not been messing with it, nor has she attempted to pack and/or LEAVE to "go home." Sometimes she thinks the den is her 35 ft camper, but what the heck, eh?

Y'all work too much. !!!
