Good morning, all!

I woke up way too early on this, my day off, so I thought I might as well do something useful before I go back to sleep. Hence the onset of this daily thread.

Prayers and ((((hugs)))) to those in need of them. I wish my lucite Magic Wand really could produce magic; oh the healing I would do!

Good Morning NSIME and all who pop in,

Thanks for starting us off today NSIME, enjoy your day off my dear.

Very relaxing although productive day for me yesterday, sat outside sipping on a cup of tea while catching a little sun. I am not one that can sit still for long not that you all know that about me. :roflmao: So I thought why not mow and get sun at the same time so on the ride on I get.

Did some washing and got the ironing taken care of, caught a nice afternoon nap and then fixed hubby's supper.

Going to relax at home again today, may sit outside for a while again today with a cuppa and enjoy this gloriously cooler weather. Humidity will be heading up again later this afternoon but that is ok.

Sitting here watching a glorious pink sunrise while enjoying my spiced green tea. Ahhhhhhhhh pure bliss.

Hope you all have a most excellent and productive day.

Much love to you all.

I'm back!

Left Sunday and got home last night. The longest vacation I've had since the previous family reunion in 2005!

And it went really well too!. I was nervous going into this, worried that I'd find it boring or would worry about the cats or have car problems. But everything went fine, car worked fine, cats were fine, no major problems. Even the weather was good.

What really surprised me was 1. How much more relaxed/mindful I was on this vacation and 2. How much I enjoyed just talking with my relatives. I used to find that quite boring but I spent hours doing just that throughout the vacation. It was what I looked forward to. So much so I'm planning to work on a mini-reunion next month with one of my cousins (The next major reunion is not for 2-3 years). And planning to visit my aunt in her tiny farming town downstate.

A very nice trip all around. It was good because the state park we stayed at had activities for the whole group (historic reenactors, caves, hiking trails) and activities the kids could do by themselves (video games, swimming pool, etc.) while the adults talked.

Even the drive wasn't bad...nearly 5 hours, the longest I've driven in this car, and without cruise control either. But it went fine. I didn't even mind taking a detour to drop my sister off on the way back.

Definitely going to take more time off in the future.

It was interesting, only a few hours after returning home I started to worry about a situation at work. I think taking this trip made me realize how stressed I've gotten and how work has become almost an obsession for me. I can see how unhealthy that is now.

Did laundry last night when I got back, will do a little shopping today. Might hike a bit, but I'm so sore from the hiking at the reunion (very hilly country) that I'm going to take it easy.

Good morning all.

Welcome back, Joe. Sounds like a wonderful time. I come from a large "old" family and recall many family reunions in my youth. So boring for kids. The last I attended was a national one and that was many years ago. Totally different experience. There came an appreciation of extended family that I had not realized until I attended.

Sabby, sounds like your staycation is also great. Nurses work so hard and sometimes it seems like vacation is such as hardship that we put it off. Glad you put your foot down.

NSIME, I awoke at 4 am and promptly decided that I would not get up. I think I lay there until about 6 before I got back to sleep. The bit of extra snooze time made a difference.

Today I have to take the car in for inspection and get registration done. I may do a change of address for my license which expires in Oct. I hate to but a new picture cannot be worse than my current one. My hair is a mess in the humidity of summer but that is normal with curly hair, so the cops will be able to easily recognize me in the summer. Winter I have hat hair. Someone asked a cop friend why we have to have such ugly pictures, no smile, blank look. His reply was so we would look the same in our mug shots. IDK, all the celebs have mug shots where they are smiling.

Off today after a 6 day stretch and back to it tomorrow. It was great working with the boss all those days. We have a similar sense of humor and laugh our way through pallets of receiving. He hates ladders and I don't mind them so we work it out easily. I do ladders, he does lifting.

Still nice out now but humidity is rising. Storms for the weekend.

Have a great day.

Morning!

We've got some lightening-caused fires going . . .. one little community was on stand-by for evacuation but so far, so good. More than one of our hospice families live up there. The wind really whips up in our valley every afternoon though. All those huge thunderheads every afternoon caused quite a few fires.

Glad you had such a good time Joe!

Sabby - I wish I were as productive as you even when you are on vacation.

Not quite sure how the day will go. Hoping I can get outside for a walk/jog.

Hello nurses!

I'm so glad you had such a good time Joe. Glad you will enjoy your cousins and aunt soon.

Glad AKY and NSIME went back to sleep. I guess because I feel lousy when I don't get enough sleep I want a good sleep for everyone.

Hi Sabby: Like others I envy your "Get up and go"

As the song says, "My get up and go has got up and went."

Day Fire (also known as 3-7 Day Fire) General Information

We have two areas of fires - the one above is near our ranch and at this time is about 2500 acres. The wind has picked up and there seems to be no chance of rain. Evacuations are starting. The other one is on the east side of the valley - Bald Mountain - and it is picking up as well. Lots of smoke.

Everything stops when we have fires.

The sky is an odd and eerie color.

Hope this calms down overnight . . .but I doubt it.

Stephanie this sounds very scary. I pray that the fire burns in on itself and goes out.
