The job-quitting/move to Hawaii thread has me curious. What would you do if you were completely financially secure, and could do anything you wanted? If you could "run away" from responsibility and do something different? I would devote time to artistic pursuits (pottery) and medical missions.

I always said that if I won $10,000,000 the first thing I would do is pack up the cat and take a world cruise. My Mother always said that they would not let a cat on the boat. I would say that if I had $10,000,000 not only would the cat be welcome, but he would get his cabin and person to take cRe of the litter box!

seriously, I dream of coming back to the hospital as a "Tea Steward" I would have a cart with nice tea leaves, a kettle and tea pot. I would go around and make people real tea, not this dunk a tea bag in a warm cup of water crap. Real tea requires tea leaves and the water should be boiling as it hits the leaves. Maybe hold a weekly "tea" for long term pts.

I'd open a combo lavender farm/pit bull rescue/soup kitchen. I'd plan & execute beautiful meals for homeless & hungry people whilst leading a pack of rescue pits through my purple fields :)

I would go to Asia and go back to school. Probably find a PRN job and work when I felt like it. Maybe start an outreach program for seniors.

I would a PRN job and enjoy traveling; I would have a villa somewhere, or a place in at least in Europe; definitely one in Hawaii-my semi retirement destination (already have a timeshare there.)

I would like to have an outpatient health education resource center, so that they're support groups from diabetes, to weight loss to mental health issues. I already run and organize groups on Meetup.com, so I have some experience in running support groups.

I'd write. From one of those stick houses out in the water in the tropics.

I would write, travel, and help the less fortunate. Oh, and rescue as many shelter animals as I could. Love animals.

I'd buy a little apartment in Paris and the only way you'd ever see me again is if you could find me in a cafe sipping Bordeaux and reading a book. Or at my second home I'd have in The Maldives.

I would volunteer abroad (in developing countries) as a nurse too, so I could travel, travel, travel.

I enjoy traveling especially to far off places and dream of the day I am able to volunteer with the Mercy Ships organization bound for Africa. While in nursing school, I had the opportunity to volunteer in Yucatan, Mexico and other impoverished countries in Central America and knew that bringing hope and healing to hundreds of the forgotten poor was my calling. To fulfill my dream though I need lots of money - volunteers pay their own way.

I will open my own hospital where every staff must have a nursing license or in the process of getting a nursing license (including the MDs). I will serve only poor people. The lowest paid staff will be making $100,000/year.

The hospital will be affiliated with my nursing school. The nursing school will produce efficient and skilled nurses :)
