They were tear gassed because they didnt move when told to.  Based on the events of the past few days, no one should have any problem with that.

Neither the police or Secret Service take orders from the President.

What do you call those Atlanta cops, dude, who smashed the windows of the car two young Black men were sitting in, before cops pulled them out and assaulted them?

Looter Cops?

Asking for Haiti.

You're version of what happened hasn't been determined.   Never the less, it is a horrible tragedy.

That doesnt change the fact that those that are looting, burning, beating, and killing are much more dangerous then the small number of "American isis" that show up at rallies.

What is a cop like this one called?

She is one who fired her gun at the business owner.

From today's Lexington Herald-Leader:

Louisville Officer Who Fired Weapon In Killing...

One of the "few bad apples"?

Seems to me, many PD in this country are overwhelmed by rotten fruit.

Did you watch it?

I did.  There were a few seconds in which someone, Mr. McAtee I presume, had their right arm extended out the door.  His arm wasn't visible before he withdrew it, however it appeared to be empty when he did.

Viewing the video from outside there was a large puff of smoke.  However, in my opinion it did not appear consistent with a pistol being fired, unless it was black powder.

Our governor just announced an extensive investigation into this death.

The FBI is also involved with the investigation.

Andy Beshear doesn't use language that inflames tensions.

His language convenes compassion, understanding and empathy.

So proud of my governor.

We are so, so, lucky to have him leading our state.

I'm not yet familiar with the story.

What does it have to do with my post?

They are protestors rioting and looting.  They are widely condemned and somehow should be stopped.

Imagine if Black Lives Matters protestors showed up in the same gear with guns and ammo in open carry states talking about their right to live, their right to being treated without abuse and fairness, their Constitutional rights as Americans and walked into the statehouse.

Seems to be the police were a lot more aggressive with the BLM protestors than they were with the "end the lockdown and I don't want to wear a mask" protestors.

I think though people have it backwards and instead of focusing on the reason there are protests in the first place and allow them a voice, they are focusing on the looting and riots and not listening.

https://www.tampabay.com/news/2020/06/01/protesters-worry-tampa-looting-police-clashes-overshadow-message/

I'm encouraged that here in St. Pete it's been largely peaceful without property damage or looting.  From the pictures I'm seeing it's a mixture of both black and white, and mostly young.  Certainly not members of anarchist groups or Antifa but ordinary people.  I imagine older folks would be out too but for Corona Virus.  During the large protests after Trump was elected it was a mixture of old and young.

At the end of the day, as we enter Pride Month around the country that celebrates a riot at Stonewall that protested police brutality, I can't not show some understanding and listen.  I can not condone the property damage and looting either.

I'm encouraged that the overwhelming number of people around the country are supportive and understand that what police are doing is wrong.  It's right in our face.  I'm encouraged that Police Chiefs around the country have spoken up.  I'm encouraged that mayors around the country are speaking up.  (Our governor has been largely silent but for a Tweet saying that looting and violence will not be tolerated, following Trump's lead in ignoring the point).   I'm encouraged that white people are listening, speaking up, and taking. time to reflect.

I'm completely disgusted with Trump.  A photo op with him holding a Bible?   Puleeeze.  No he didn't order the people tear gassed when they wouldn't move.   They were tear gassed to make room for the President's photo op.

Meanwhile over at Fox News this is the twist provided by Rubio.  Again, not really addressing what the protests are about.

Be sure to listen to interview on NPR, with a man who lives in the area.

He said police corralled peaceful protesters down his street, then hit them with tear gas.

He opened his home to The protesters.

He said the cops stood outside his house, "like predators," waiting for protesters to come out so they could be arrested.

The protesters spent the night at this good Samaritan's house.

Barr has ordered an attack on peaceful Americans.

This is how the first American Revolution started.

Btw-Andy Beshear said today he does not want military in state, and said Trump's comments are not appropriate.

Yep.

Trump needs to shut the pie hole. He is incapable of intelligent thought.

Thank you for posting, Chare.

I don't see a gun. Just a business owner working, making food, as he has done for a long time.

These videos are increasingly difficult to watch.

Apparently there is no right to peaceful assembly in Trumplandia. Trumpublicans are merrily encouraging a police state so that they can get their fill of liberal tears.

No, I saw a black business owner assassinated by police for opening his business up to young blacks as the police were herding them...

There appears to be a black object dropped to the ground after the person with right hand extended comes inside from the doorway.

There is a better way — the way of empathy, and shared commitment, and bold action, and a peace rooted in justice. I am confident that together, Americans will choose the better way.

Quote from George W. Bush.  A man I considered one of the worst Presidents ever, but whom in retirement seems to have grown and evolved a bit.

Some are speculating the "choose the better way" is an endorsement of Biden for the November election because Trump certainly hasn't responded with "empathy and shared commitment".

Baloney. Watch the video.  We are in a convulsion against violent policing, violent racism, and those who would empower and protect authoritarians...you get to decide which side you are on, we all do.  This isn't the first time that violent white racists have tried to upend our country.
