If we think of presidential election as a horse race, the real question to ask is: Is Donald Trump, Secretariat?

With a recent WaPo/ABC poll indicating Trump's overall approval rating has "'soared" to 49%, with only 200 days before the November election, can Trump gain speed, while running out of track?

As Tweety pointed out, George W. Bush had an approval rating of 90%, 10 days after 9/11.

Trump has thus far, NEVER been able to even garner a 50% approval rating.

Secretariat had an enormous behind. It took him a while to gather himself up, and then, he got faster, the farther he ran.

Of course, once he died, it was discovered his heart, was much larger than the normal Thoroughbred heart..

We know with Trump, the size of his heart, is miniscule, compared to other humans.

I am betting Donald John Trump, is no Secretariat.

Clearly.

Have you seen his offspring?

Meanwhile in other news.......

Quote

President Donald Trump fired Michael Atkinson, the inspector general of the intelligence community, late on a Friday night amid the coronavirus pandemic in hopes that you wouldn't know what he did. Or you'd note it in passing, and then quickly move on to other pressing worries like, well, the coronavirus and its impact on the US economy.

You absolutely should not do either of those things. Because, while the removal of the intelligence community's watchdog is less obviously urgent in your own life than coronavirus, the mentality that informs the decision to remove Atkinson is hugely corrosive to our American system of government.

Oh, yeah.

I read about it when it happened in WaPo and NY Times.

He is simply continuing his pattern of firing all truth tellers in our government, to surround himself with corrupt, liars like himself.

Unfortunately for Trump, these actions will not save him, come November 2020.

His incompetence is on full display, everyday, and it is impossible to ignore.

Of course Trump loves FL.

Your governor is the type of moron Trump self-identifies with.

From CNN:

Florida Governor Falsely Claims The Coronavirus Hasn't Killed Anyone Under 25

I read these stories, and I am ever more grateful for my smart, Democratic Governor, Andy Beshear!

You know I voted for him, but still, the consensus among my nursing colleagues is that we are so glad to have Beshear as governor during this crisis, and not Trumpster Matt Bevin.

One of my coworkers remarked Wednesday night: "We would be screwed if we still had Bevin. Our numbers would be terrible because he wouldn't have closed down anything."

And that is the truth!

I read the article.  So, there has been a handful of possible covid pediatric deaths across the country.  His point is still true.  It doesn't effect kids as much.  My empty pediatric ER in a major city is a attestation to that.

I dont think that makes him a moron.

Yes, Kentucky had less cases on the 9th than on the 8th and is on a good path.   Republican lead Alabama with a similar sized population had twice the number of new cases than Kentucky  and is still on the rise.  Same with similar sized South Carolina, with about 100 more cases.

The be fair, Democrat lead Oregon with 4 million cases has seen a rise the past couple of days.......to 82 new cases.   Democrat lead California, the countries most populous state saw a decrease to 1100 cases.   Florida on the other hand has 10 million less people than California but about the same number of new cases and is on the rise.

My point probably is those that took it seriously early and took measures early are fairing better.  My city started social distancing closures ahead of the state and we're doing okay with "only" 10 deaths in the county...the most densely populated in Florida.  Patient load is so light nurses are asked to stay home.  Many are getting temporary travel assignments to harder hit areas because they aren't needed here.

I don't know how much you can get from "new cases".  That may mean more testing is done in one area over another.

When I see number of cases anywhere, it doesn't mean much imo.

While there's no question that Trump has completely botched our testing, the limited data that the testing does provide is useful to the experts.
