Thanks to that socialist Ronald Reagan, Indigent requiring treatment for coronavirus is already legally mandated and paid for by the government, so I'm not sure what Nel is referring to.

And this from Times too:

Waive Fees For Coronavirus Tests And Treatment, Health Experts Urge.

May be you are referring to ED care, but if you read the pieces, the uninsured and indigent are being billed.

Patients kept in hospital over coronavirus fears face surprise medical bills

Two of the patients who were put under quarantine were Frank Wucinski and his daughter. He accepted the U.S. government's offer in February to evacuate from Wuhan. After a two-week quarantine in California, which included two mandatory stays for Mr. Wucinski's 3-year old daughter at a children's hospital, he received nearly $4,000 in bills from hospital physicians and an ambulance company, according to The New York Times...

You can always count on Trumpsters to provide the entertainment, albeit, often at their own expense.

From CNN:

Rep. Matt Gaetz Wears Gas Mask On House Floor During Vote On Cornavirus Response Package

Gaetz bemoaned the fact that the package didn't come with spending cuts to offset the costs.

Hmm.

Did he propose cuts to fund Trump's vanity wall?

I am sure he could have found Democratic support for that idea.

It seems what the articles are referring to is the common, albeit sleazy, practice of hospitals routinely sending full bills to patients even when the patient's don't actually owe anything, when questioned they will typically say the bill was sent in error (I've never not received a full bill for anything hospital related even when I actually owe nothing, it's because hospital billing departments are scumbags and hope you'll pay money you don't owe).

The only tests currently available are from or through public health departments, so payment at least for now is a non-issue.

There isn't really any treatment for coronavirus other than acute care treatment, which is what EMTALA requires that hospitals provide (it's not limited to just ED care).  People with symptoms that don't appear to require hospitalization should not go to a clinic or hospital.

Its not going to be Bernie.  And unless Biden wins the nomination outright, The Bern Bros are going to stay home.  The poll isn't taking that into account.

And, let's not forget Trump's history is to polls lower them what people actually do, and it's the EC that counts.  Not there popular vote.

It is the EC that counts, and as I pointed out he's not looking likely to win by electoral college vote either.

That's not quite true.

I work for a local health department.

We have no testing kits.

We will not get them.

We don't test.

If it was as simple as telling folks; 'oops, an error,' I highly doubt that high-ranking folks in the health care community would be lobbying to get costs reduced or waived.

After all, they have better things to do with their time, right now.

And I doubt the federal government would be involved, when all the billing department of the hospital and ambulance service has to say is 'oops.'

Ambulance fees are involved.

That generally has nothing to do with hospitals.

The headline speaks for itself, but this analysis piece is an interesting read.

I was making a general comment to the readers of the thread.

The WHO has increased the mortality rate of covid-19 to 3+.

I hope they are wrong.

https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/485808-who-coronavirus-death-rate-higher-than-initially-thought

And Trump, in yet another moronic move, which could have serious impacts to public health, disputes that number.

His "gut" tells him it is wrong, baloney.

He made his idiotic comments to Sean Hannity.

There are happy idiots, and dangerous partisan idiots.

Trump is latter.

I also work for a local health department. We do not have the kits, but we do collect specimens (nasopharengeal, oropharyngeal and sputum) package them and ship them to the state public health lab who has the testing kits. There is no cost, but we have to get prior approval before sending. The University of Washington lab has been approved to conduct tests, but I don't know if they will charge.
