And he's still tweeting about it this morning. Plus lots of other weather updates. Is he determined to show how necessary it was to skip the Poland trip? Maybe he is getting to eliminate funding for NOAA by demonstrating he can do their jobs?

Just another sign that Republicans know just how weak Trump is, as we head towards 2020:

Republicans To Scrap Primaries And Caucuses

The article is running in Politico, and discusses primaries in four states.

What are they so afraid of?

Competition?

😳

Just because he slept with someone named Stormy doesn't make him a meteorologist.  (credit to Joy Behar)

Not holding primaries when an incumbent is running isn't unusual.  From the Politico article you referenced.

Quote

[...]

The shutdowns aren’t without precedent. Some of the states forgoing Republican nomination contests have done so during the reelection bids of previous presidents. Arizona, GOP officials there recalled, did not hold a Democratic presidential primary in 2012, when Barack Obama was seeking a second term, or in 1996, when Bill Clinton was running for reelection. Kansas did not have a Democratic primary in 1996, and Republican officials in the state pointed out that they have long chosen to forgo primaries during a sitting incumbent’s reelection year.
South Carolina GOP Chairman Drew McKissick noted that his state decided not to hold Republican presidential primaries in 1984, when Ronald Reagan was running for reelection, or in 2004, when George W. Bush was seeking a second term. South Carolina, he added, also skipped its 1996 and 2012 Democratic contests.

It's perfectly fine for republican led states to advertise that they are satisfied with Trump's political "leadership". Those Republicans are well within their right to marginalize legitimate challengers to the Liar in Chief.

Yes. I read that too.

Do you remember which Democrat challenged Obama or Bill Clinton?

I don't. But perhaps my memory is bad, going that far back.

Seems like Trump has several challengers, at least two, that I know of.

Maybe more in the wings?

The point of the piece, which you didn't reference, is the total take over, of the Republican party by Trump and Friends.

I thought Bill Weld's quote summed things up nicely.

I receive emails from the Weld campaign, and his response to Republicans in four states cancelling primaries, is to accuse Trump and Friends, of trying to silence voters.

Hard to argue against that viewpoint, isn't it?

Saying it is not unusual, doesn't mean voters aren't being silenced.

It is simply, a lame excuse.

Vanity Fair has a nice little article which discusses how Trump could be hurt by primaries.

He is a weak candidate.

Weaker than I thought.

According to the article, an August Emerson poll, has Weld peeling away something like 16% of Republican voters.

Those would be folks who have had enough of the moronic, and racist talk coming out of Trump's mouth.

No wonder Trump and Friends want to silence Republican voters!

I woke this morning to widespread reporting that the military is now refueling aircraft at Trump properties rather than the more fiscally responsible option of refueling at a military installation. This information is not reported by Fox, that I can discover. My local "conservative" neighbors are busily calling people names and deflecting because they are convinced that this is simply fake news, since it isn't showing up in their bubble.

It seems that the military is not readily cooperating with requests for information and oversight.  Surely our republican friends will agree that a secretive military unaccountable to the people is a dangerous thing.

Just more for House Democrats to investigate!

Have you noticed the large number of House Republicans retiring, or not seeking reelection?

It seems like they know the Blue Tidal Wave is coming!

It's time for the daily public hearings on the corruption, lawlessness and impeachment of Trump.  Congress must get busy.

There's some possibility that those retiring aren't sensing a blue tide as much as they are getting off of the Trump train. They don't want to be associated but also don't want to speak out. Would you agree?
