You're are right  that crowd size doesn't matter at this event.

But the pattern of mendacity is what troubles me. I am not sure that person can even tell truth from exaggeration to flat out, intentional lie. That bothers me, and that his cult of followers don't even care. They don't care if they did or didn't get a tax cut. They don't care if social security and medicare is destroyed. They don't care if North Korea has nuclear weapons aimed at us, and they don't care if our elections are being manipulated by a foreign power.

And why do you think that is?

I suspect it is because they agree with his basic message, and I know what that is.

It is MAGA, and I will let you ponder the meaning behind that slogan.

You’re probably right.  Again, in the big picture, it’s meaningless.

No, it not meaningless.

If it was, Trump and Company wouldn't have lied about it.

Aporoval rating highest in 23 months.  It seems govt shutdown and the constant efforts to delegitimize his presidency haven’t hurt him too much.

His approval rating has been so consistently low, that it doesn't matter.

You do realize that the majority of Americans blamed Trump and the GOP for the shut down, and that was why Donnie caved, and let Speaker Pelosi spank him in public, right?

You do realize that the GOP then became worried about 2020 elections, and suddenly found the will to step in, and try to save themselves from Trump's "gut" instincts, right?

Your constant attempts to twist the truth, like David Beckham, bending a soccer ball is quite amusing.

But at least I always know what the right wing is up to!

😉

Ah, the Rasmussen poll.

Should be taken with multiple grains of salt. It consistently rates Trump's approval ratings much, much higher than any other poll.

But hey, right wingers can believe anything they want, if it helps them sleep at night.

Whatever Trump's crowd size, last night, it seems his trip wasn't without controversy.

From today's Washington Post:

El Paso Officials Tell Trump To Stop Telling Falsehoods About Their Border City

Hmm.

I will have to say that at the National Prayer Breakfast where he can suck up to evangelicals, he did exactly that.  He made a good speech again there.  He talked again about accomplishments that can be done from both sides working together.   While it's a little too late two years in, in my opinion, it's the right tone to take as he lost the house.

His gaffe about abolishing civil rights aside, it seemed to show and solid the evangelicals around him.

As an atheist homosexual, I am deeply bothered by the demand of evangelicals for "religious freedom" to discriminate and a President that supports that idea.

Here's a news report about it.

I'd be interested in the gallup poll as well.  He was at 37% before the speech. They publish monthly.  It's still stunning to me that Republicans are rating him so high, with 87% approval rating.

Yes, a gross exaggeration.

However, there were a few thousand outside if Trump’s. And if the ORiurke people are saying 10-15000, it’s closer to 10.  There shouldn’t be that wide an estimate for that size.

Its a draw.  And, it doesn’t matter.

It doesn't matter to his supporters who chalk it up to "yeah he does say some dumb things", but to some of us it does.

I think ultimately with the people watching outside on monitors Trump might have had a bigger crowd.  I do think it's a distraction, but what matters to me is again he isn't being Presidential but an embarrassment.

Here's what he said "  "a young man who's got very little going for himself except he's got a great first name. ... So we have, let's say, 35,000 people tonight, he has 200 people, 300 people — not too good,"

Why be so Junior High?

"It doesn't matter."

It's THE LYING that matters. The constant, daily lying.

At this point, I find Trump, and Trumpsters attack on the media to be pretty boring.

Most of us know why it is happening, and reject it.

Those who accept and believe the attacks are the base, who, as nursej pointed out, accept Trump's lies on everything, no questions asked.

There are Trump supporters who don't believe his lies-they know he lies A LOT. But they don't care. We have such a person posting here. He doesn't care if Trump lies about anything and everything. He feels that the actions of this administration benefit him economically, so the rest is all "meh." I think there are probably a lot more like him. Not entirely gullible, just more centered on self interest.
