Good morning-

I also had a quiet day yesterday.  I did some errands, exercised, and then spent the rest of the day reading.  It's nice to have some down time.

Today we are meeting with the caterer we've chosen for our wedding, for a tasting. We've picked out somethings from the menu, and now we get to try them.  It should be fun.

Dianah-glad you're feeling better.

J22-Your bike rides sound relaxing.

Hope all have a good day.

Good morning!

Joe, glad J is feeling better.   Have a good time.

BC, enjoy the tasting.

Dianah, glad you're feeling better and sounds like you had a good day.

Ted, hope you enjoyed the hike and got some good pics.

Baloney, sounds like good times.

J22, hope the pumpkins turned out okay.   I'm a scrooge and don't give out candy.  Usually I'm working and getting home after a good deal of them have come by and want to just relax and get to bed.

Nothing going on here.  Fatigue and a nap won out and I didn't mow the grass but will this morning.  I did manage to go to the gym though.

Good Morning Boiez and Gurlers, Fur-Babies, and All ----

It was warm and it rained like crazy last evening and night. I sat outside on the front porch for 1/2 hour before I went to bed. All was silent except for the rain hitting the leaves. So nice!!!

Friday I went to the credit union, and on the way there I was thinking of going to one of three places to get my hair trimmed shorter like I wanted it in the first place. But, as I drove out of the parking lot I thought -- I don't want to PAY someone to cut my hair! So I went home and covered the bathroom floor, over the sink and toothbrushes, etc, with a king-sized sheet, and started cutting. I did a GOOD job (I've been cutting my own hair for FIFTY YEARS!) of course, because nobody 'understands' my hair like I do. And having the hairdresser slowly dry my hair in sections with a brush makes me feel impatient. So, here's how I do it:  I dry my bangs, then hang my head upside-down to dry the under layers, and then stand up and blow the beejeebers out of it, every-which-way. Then when it's mostly dry I use a  large round brush to curl the ends under, and VOILA! A pageboy that is slightly longer in the front, while the rest of it barely skims my shoulders. YESSSSSSS!

My sister-in-law (she's married to my ugly, hateful BiL) came over yesterday with the great-grand (the 2 year old as big as a four year old) to visit w/ Nannie....and brought us FOOD! (A pumpkin-spice cake, a beef and noodle stew and french-cut green beans.) SiL is a hairdresser, so I had her trim a tad off the back where I couldn't quite reach well enough to make it even. She couldn't believe I cut my own hair in pageboy style. Heck I could cut my hair in a very short style with layers that brush back on the sides and end at the nape. Not sure what that style is called, but it's doable if I had the time and inclination. Don't feel like going quite that short though.

So, enough with the hair-talk. Just have to add that I had my nails done, the day before, too. 🙂

The gypsies are quiet this morning, maybe hungover from a few days of romping.

Nannie has been spending afternoons after lunch snoozing. We had to wake her up yesterday at 5 PM so she could wake up enough to eat supper around six. She takes her meds after eating, By 9 PM she was sleepy enough to go to bed and it is almost noon now, so I guess she'll be getting up soon.

Last night when I helped her in the bathroom, I discovered she was wearing two sets of pull-ups with giganto night-time pads in each of them, PLUS a pair of what she calls 'step-ins'. (Hanes cotton panties) and then two pairs of PJ bottoms. MOST of them were wet in spots, so we did a quick wash and put on only one of each of the pull-ups, pads, and PJ bottoms. She said, "Oh, THAT feels better!" I told her it was because "I am a professional."

I have started collecting the newpaper 3-Day Weather reports for a week or so, because I SWEAR it is hardly EVER correct and I want to see how off they are. Weather Channel aside, I think being a meteorologist is kind of a thankless job. They THINK, but they don't KNOW!

Ozzie has become more of a Mom-Glom these days. Don't think it is necessarily because Pippy is gone now, but just that as the only dog, he gets more attention and he seems to be addicted to my fingernails. Wish I had 3 hands so I could do more things while I scratch him!

Prolly will check back in later. The last couple of nights I meant to post but by the time I got around to it it was so late (early AM wee hours) I'd say to myself, "tomorrow" I'll do it. Well, I reckon this is the tomorrow of which I spoke.

But for now, Buh-bye!

Even though yesterday wasn't as hot as the previous days I waited until it began to cool off to clean the kitchen. I  read for a couple hours in the bedroom first with Pearlie Girl dog and then with Duke.

Today is almost 20 degrees cooler! I'm gonna trim hedges if the overcast continues.

It's clear and cool in these parts; 50 degrees now, but in was in the 30s this morning. I rode my bike down to the diner for breakfast and my fingertips got so cold! I've been cleaning up the kitchen since I got home. Normally dh does that, but with his  freq. cough, I don't really want him spreading germs on the clean dishes. I'm about to head out to the garage to move stuff because youngest son agreed to help me put the new shelves together.

Herring, do you have any smoke from the wildfires? I am watching the news around Santa Rosa and Healdsburg. That is such a beautiful area.

Stars, I am impressed that you can cut your own hair. I really enjoy having someone cut and round brush my hair. I find it as relaxing as a massage.

BC, a tasting sounds fun.

Joe, is the Color Purple a movie or play?

We are far enough from these fires that we get mild smoke only when the winds are offshore. When the wind is onshore or from the ocean toward the beach it keeps smoke and smog a few miles inland. Years ago when we had horrible smog we suffered worst during offshore Santa Ana winds.

We lived in Hollywood in the sixties. Sometimes I had to pull over or stop walking to let tears wash my eyes and stop the burning. I couldn't keep them open.  Glad to have clean air regulations these last 40 or so years.

Monday there were fires in Pacific Palisades that were controlled before any homes burned. That was just 16 miles north of us. We had watery eyes and smelled the smoke.

This was written in 1960. Last verse

So go to the city, see the crazy people there.
Like lambs to the slaughter,
They're drinking the water
And breathing (cough) the air.

Nannie is blathering on about about six different subjects and several different families and people, all tumbled together in the most confusing way!

But what she said to hubby while I was out shopping, beats all I've ever heard. She motioned to the end of the sofa where I always sit and said, "She won't let me kill that dog."...What dog?..."That dog on the couch."...Why do you want to kill that dog?...."To eat."....Momma, you ain't never eaten dog meat before in your life...."Well, I have so! You don't know everything I've eaten in my life!"

We watched the Cirque de Soleil (sp?) Christmas (I know, really? Christmas already?") Special last night on public teewee, whilst they were fund raising. After thoroughly enjoying the performances, oohing and aahing through the whole program. She said today, "You know, I really didn't like watching that show last night. Too busy, too many colors, and it didn't make any sense." [She remembered that, but doesn't know hubby's identity or mine, much of the time?]  Oh, and by the way, "that other girl" who looks enough like me to be my twin...."She had her hair cut, too!" IMAGINE THAT!!!

I'm going to switch Nannie's gears and take her into her bathroom and wash her down. Fun, fun, fun! She is self-conscious about me 'seeing' her naked body. I told her I don't LOOK at her, and that I have seen more naked bodies than I could ever come up with a number for. She asked if I didn't look, how could I see what I was doing? I said: "BRAILLE".

Good Afternoon! 🙂

Just finished with every-six-month HOA meeting. It was held at our home, this time around. I'm the secretary. Again! (I've been our HOA's secretary for a total of 7 years.) Happily, I managed to get everything written down so that I can sent out a coherent Minutes of the Meeting for our next meeting.

Yesterday. . . The hiking was BEAUTIFUL!! It was also a lot of work. Muscles. They ache, so. (Ibuprofen is our friends!). It was a nearly 7 mile hike, round trip. Those miles involved steep trails with rocks and tree roots. Still, all of the work and joint pain was well-worth the effort, once on the top. The sun was out for most day which helped showcase the beautiful views on the peak. We had a great time. But boy! Those muscles sure got a good work-out!! L O L! 😄

Below are a few of the photos taken of yesterday's hike.

In the meanwhile, I hope all have a pleasant afternoon & evening! 🙂

This was the musical

We decided to skip the brunch.  The theater was having a special Halloween brunch, very crowded and expensive
