Good morning!

Joe, hope you had a good day and enjoyed your bird watching and lunch.

Dianah, glad you caught up on sleep.  Hope the cat is okay.

Stars, I see the Braves are poised to win it all with the next game.  I see Trump attended the game.

Dianah, nice to get together with friends.  Yay for the vaccine!

I can't complain about work.  I do have a challenging patient that came in with a wound to her leg that needs debridement after a motor cycle accident but she's obsessed that something is wrong with her ORIF she had before she was discharged the last time.  Would not let it go and at shift change had a melt down.  She's a message therapist and nows the muscular well, but four different ortho docs have said her leg is find and she should continue with wound care and PT.  The drama sucked the life out of me.  It's so hard to stay compassionate with and understanding with someone with OCD that won't stop obsessing.  She rubbed her leg and cried all day.

Back for more fun today.  Have a great day.

Tweety it's hard when you have to deal with mental as well as physical illness

Dianah hope your cat is OK

Hi Stars

NJ22 I remember planting bulbs years ago

Was a busy day yesterday.  Was out early for birdwatching.   Lots of birds, far more than I saw last week.  Not sure why things are so variable, unless it's related to migration

Came home and did some baking, went to see dad, and then did some cooking.  Watched part of the Svengoolie movie but it was so low budget it lost my interest partway through

Heading in for church a bit early as the choir is singing today.  After church have lunch with J and then we're going to see the musical Forever Plaid.  Have not been to a musical since before the pandemic.

50s continue today, rain has stopped.  Will be in the 40s all next week

Good morning all!

Joe, I looked up Forever Plaid, looks like a great show!  I love to hear barbershop quartets, and this is full of that!  You and J should enjoy it immensely!!  I know you sing in your church choir, does J sing?  And tell me again, what vocal range are you?

Tweety, sad to read about the drama yesterday.  Gosh, some ppl need self-awareness classes, or "How to recognize andcurtail your OCD!"   I think I told you (but I'll repeat it, lol!), recently I was interviewing a patient for his stress test.  We ask the usual: questions about the chest discomfort, family history, your own history, and do you have COPD?  The patient paused, deep in thought, then frowned.  "I don't think so...   My sister has to have everything 'just so,' but I don't really have to have things like that."  Aaaaaaaand I realized he thought I was asking if he had OCD!!!  No, I did NOT laugh!!  But I did redirect:  Do you have any breathing issues: asthma, emphysema?  //  I brought that story home to dh (who has exhibited OCD at times -- takes after his mom! -- and who accepts that he does! ), and probably a day or two later he came in and told me his COPD is acting up, he would like  ---- something changed, but we both busted out laughing!  It's become a little secret code with us. 🙂

Anyway, I hope today's work is better (no more drama!), and goes smoothly.

Dh (as well as having 'COPD' 😉 ) is very empathic about the cats and their moods and needs.  Last night he announced, of our elderly cat Samantha (the one I spoke about earlier), "she is dying."  He agonized over taking her to the vet but we decided not to.  We laid her on the bed in the spare bedroom, dimmed the lights, closed the door so the other cats wouldn't come in, and kept vigil while she slowly faded.  She died around 1230, on a soft bed in quiet, familiar surroundings, with us petting her.  She was a firecracker -- earned the label 'psycho mama kitty' when she vigorously chased the other house cats away from her four kittens, many years ago.   All but one of her four have preceded her; Baby Cloud, a gray tortie, is the only one of hers surviving.  It was difficult to do, but better than taking her to the vet.  She hated being picked up, probably would have hated the kennel and the drive and being at the vet, and having an IV put in...  We are sad but we did the right thing.  Thanks for your concern, and your thoughts and prayers.

Needless to say, I didn't sleep well last night.  Got up at 8.  Will see what I have energy to do.  Nothing is pressing (except washing my scrubs).

Have a good day!

Joe - you made me laugh re your critique of last nite's Svengoolie. I think it was the worst "low budget-est" on the show.

Tweety - it's so hard when some pts just suck the soul out of you.

Dianah - (((hugs))) for your kitty loss.

The new vacuum arrived today.  Wasn't sure if I wanted to tackle putting it together and then figuring out how to use it (ummmmm.... ya push the button and it turns on and ya vacuum with it!!!) but I ended up pulling it out of the box and putting it together.  I do like that it's lighter than the other one, and that I can SEE the dust cup, and SEE when I need to empty it, before proceeding with more vacuuming.

So I vacuumed, and did three loads of wash, and still need to change sheets and towels, and clean litter boxes.  And EAT!  Maybe I will EAT first!!!

Joe, I think we have discussed this horror flick (named as the WORST horror film ever made): Plan 9 From Outer Space!!   I watched it, many years ago, on a Halloween movie-a-thon.  It was the only one I watched, because it didn't sound scary (I don't, as a rule, watch scary movies, cuz I get SCARED!! lol) and it WAS pretty bad!  VERY cheesy!!  Interesting to read its filming history, too.

Hope you all have a nice evening.
