Good Morning!

BC, I was just listening to the Avett Brothers, although it's not quite my style.  They have a new album out and it's a bit political.   Hope the CBD continues to help.  Didn't seem to make a difference to me, but when reading up about it, there's anecdotal from people that it helps with sleep and with others it doesn't.  That's some chilly weather.

Herring, condolences at the loss of your friend.

Joe, hope the rummage sale went well and wasn't too stressful.

Working  today.  Work yesterday wasn't actually bad.  They were able to float two nurses and a tech.  We reduced staff as patients were discharged and I was actually able to go home around 4:30.  Fell asleep with the lights on woke up only once, so I'd call it a good nights sleep (albeit one with my sleeping pill).

Good Morning -

Tweety - Good to read that work was manageable for you, yesterday. Hopefully, work will be kind to you today.

Well. . . We did NOT go canoeing, yesterday. It was still dark outside when I wrote yesterday's Good Morning post. When the sun finally began to rise, it became obvious that there was FROST on the ground!! It was literally freezing outside, yesterday morning!!  The thought of canoeing on a lake, with near-freezing temperatures, and a slight wind, did not seem appealing to us. By 10:30 AM, the temperature was above freezing to around the mid-40s. So, we decided to go hiking, again, instead. And. . . hiking we did!! Amy found a lovely trail which we never hiked on before, and we did the whole trail! It was another beautiful hike which made for a vigorous work-out!! (Ouch!) The first 2+ miles were steep. But the work-out was well-worth the effort. There was a rock-landing vista at the summit which provided great scenery to the surrounding valley show-casing its fall-colored trees, near-by hill towns and two near-by lakes! We took lots of pictures, again, of course! We spent a good hour or so on the summit just enjoying the beauty of it all. After we rested on the top, we walked down the other part of the loop-trail which seemed to take forever. Again, another good work-out! When we got back to our car, we decided to reward ourselves with some soft ice-cream! It didn't necessarily sooth the aching muscles, but it sure tasted good! L O L! 😄

Today, it's choir rehearsal, church, sleep, then work. If Call is offered, I'll take it! 🙂

Nursej22 - Saratoga is about a 1 1/2 hour drive from where I live. It's a lovely area! It's a reasonable drive to that area of New York. It would be nice to meet you, if possible. Amy and I could meet you after the bike thingy for lunch or dinner.  Just a thought.

herring_RN - Warm condolences to you for the loss of your friends. (((Hugs))).

Hope all have a pleasant day today! 🙂

Ted

Morning Ted and Tweety

Rummage sale had a slow but steady stream of people thoughout the morning.  Heard that on Friday they started lining up an hour beforehand.  I'm done but the sale continues to today.  Seems to have gone reasonably well. although they will probably have a bunch of stuff to donate when it's over

Rest of the day was pretty ordinary, met dad for lunch, exercised, did a little cooking and some cross stitch.  Listened to Live From Here

Today is choir and church and brunch with J.  Think it's our pet blessing at church.  Not much else planned.

Rain is done and will hold off for a few more days.  Temps have been more fall like

Tweety: A good night's sleep is a blessing.

Ted: I hope you are offered call.

Joe: A couple times when I was in Jr. High our Grandma took us to Olvera Street for the Blessing of the Animals. We each brought our favorite chicken. It was exciting to be there with so many big and small animals.

Here is a picture from the 1930 Blessing of the Animals: Blessing%20of%20the%20Animals%201930_zps

The memorial was almost two months after Jim's death. It was held at a local Mexican restaurant. The owner is a trustee at the lodge.

His daughter and adult granddaughters came from Michigan. Last time I saw them they were little girls. Their Mom is an NP in Detroit. She had a slide show of her Dad from a baby picture to a week before he died. He was in a wheelchair at a comedy club with his daughter.

His two ex-wives were there and MANY friends. The large banquet room was full.

herring, sounds like  a 'good' memorial, with lots of loving friends/family attending. / I've heard that chickens make good pets, but you have to have 'chicken pull-ups' if they are mostly house pets. 😆

Nannie is p.o'd again because we let her nap; "You should have woken me up!" ... Why? When a 90 y.o. body says 'you-must-sleep' and it takes over, there's little to do but obey its orders. But, she wants to fight sleep EVERY time, and for what? Nuthin' going on, nothing to miss out on.

She's awake in time for the baseball game, so it would seem all is well, after all, but those lips are still PINCHED and it is chilly and cold in her vicinity.

Y'know, these naps, though they often are several hours long, absolutely do NOT affect her night-time sleep. If they did, I'd try to keep her mind occupied to avoid letting her sleep in the daytime, but it's not like that.

Some of her being mad is that, if she dozes off, she can't focus on how she keeps pin-point-track of my hubby. My gosh, he might be out filling the bird-feeders!... where is he? what's he doing? who's he talking to? ... and as he walks through the den to go outside, "Where ya goin', baby?"  I swear I am going to have a t-shirt made for him where the front says, "I'M RIGHT HERE!" and the back says, "I'll be back." 🙄 When he came back inside just now, "Where've ya been? What were you doin?" (Outside smoking his cigar, drinking coffee, and 'communing with nature', he told her.)

Okay, gotta watch the ballgame. Hope yerz weekendz have been tolerable!

Poor Ozzie does not like the Fall, not necessarily the weather, but this is when the acorns start dropping everywhere when the breeze blows. Not only does he not like walking and stepping on an acorn, but if a big acorn is rude enough to go BANG on the shed's metal roof... that scares him and its right back to the door immediately, regardless of if he's taken care of business yet or not.

I am glad for your posts. You have talent with words. I would not like an acorn to drop on my head.

Our chickens were mostly in an outside coop. Once our neighbor, a city boy, gave his none year old a baby chick in a bird cage. "David" grew into a BIG beautiful Rhode Island Red. We ler him live with our chickens on the backyard coop. We took him with the boy owner and his Dad to the county fair along with a favorite of each of our kids. All three won ribbons, but Curly and Goldilocks won red second place ribbons and David wone a First place Blue ribbon.

Once my daughter held Goldilocks, a Buff Cochin, in her lap as she sat in the kitchen until she laid an egg. This looks like her:

Hello all!

Tweety, good work went OK.

Ted, nice hike!!  Hope you got to be put on call.

herring, nice memorial, and nice memories of Blessing of the Animals.

No Stars, hope the gypsies are kept at bay now.  Need a procedure for Nannie, to keep HER "at bay."  Poor Ozzie!  Gotta at least stay outside long enough to take care of bizzness!

Had a nice lunch with dh yesterday, at a Pakistani restaurant (will have leftovers tonight!), then went off to visit a friend.  She had just returned from 16 days at the beach (at a friend's then at a sister's rented condo -- both BEACHSIDE!!), so we traded photos and stories: me of Alaska trip, her of Laguna waves and sand and sunsets.  It was really nice to see her and visit.

Today I took myself off to see Downton Abbey (dh didn't care to go, though he really enjoyed the series.  He doesn't like going to a theater).  The theater underwent a major makeover recently, and all the seats are recliners and serving staff will take orders and bring goodies if we want!  They have a nice snack-ish menu (yes you can still get popcorn!).  It is very comfortable to watch a movie there now!  I like going Sunday mornings because it is usually not crowded, and the room is usually clean.  I enjoyed the movie!  There were lots of giggles in the room, especially with Maggie Smith's (the dowager) lines!

Then I took myself to a mediterranean restaurant and then to Trader Joe's.  I was going to get the car washed but remembered dh wanted to use it to take some things to the RV, so hied myself home.

Still have some laundry and cleaning chores to do.

Have a good afternoon and evening!
