Good morning!

Stars, sounds like you had quite the day with Nannie.  Good thing you were able to wake up and find her.

Slowbro feels like Ted does about this Daylight Savings bullcrap.

Rather than try to sleep an extra hour which I'm not known to do I just stayed up an hour later.  I tossed and turned a bit in the early hours though.

Work was steady but not too horrible.  Hopefully will have a smooth day.  Off the next three days.

Good Morning -

Tweety - Good to read that work was not too horrible, yesterday. Hope today's work is kind to you.

Regarding work. . . . being On Call was offered. I took it, with pay. Did NOT get Called In. Got an extra hour of sleep. This Daylight Savings bullcrap can have its silver-lining. L O L! 😄

Today. . . It's choir rehearsal at 9:15 AM, Church at 10:30 AM, home by 12:30 PM, finishing lunch by 1:30 PM, back to bed for sleep at 1:35 PM, up again at 5:30 PM, then drive to work at 6:00 PM to be at work at 6:45 PM start my 7:00 PM 12-hour shift. That's this Sunday's schedule, and I plan on sticking to it. If being On Call is offered today, I'll most probably decline it. I don't have any time in the Earned Time (ET) bank after being On Call last night.

Yesterday. . . . Besides doing our 3+ mile power-walk, it was basically a day of rest for me in anticipation of going to work last night. I happily took call, when it was offered. Last night, Amy and I watched our favorite old TV shows, "Barney Miller" and "News Radio". We have this Fire Stick thingy that connects our TV to the internet and enables us to watch all of these re-runs of old TV shows. This is relatively new for us!! It very cool to see these old TV shows again. "News Radio" is a hoot!! 😄

Nothing much else to share. Hope all have a pleasant day today!

Cheers! 🙂

Ted

Morning Tweety and Ted

Yesterday was fairly quiet.  Got out for a hike in the morning, although  it was pretty damp and cold.  Met dad for lunch and did some cooking.  Listened to Live From Here.  Looked over the new needlepoint project

Today church is early as we only have 1 service today.  Setting the clocks back helped.  Meeting J for brunch at one of our usual places.  He's been feeling better simce his oral surgery.

Will be a bit warmer today, up into the 50s

Morning-

We had a great time at my nephew's Bar Mitzvah.  It was nice to see family and friends.  My mother's closest friends were there.  It was wonderful to see them altogether, but also kind of bittersweet, because they are all in their mid to late 80s and slowing down a bit.  I've known these women my whole life, and always expect them to look the way they did when I was a kid.  They all put on silly props and took a photo booth picture, which I posted on Facebook.  I love that they are still goofy and like to have fun.

Today might be a couch day.  I'm a bit sore from wearing high heels and dancing. Neither are a frequent activity for me. Getting older sucks!  I think today will be a good day to make some sort of stew or soup.  It's pretty chilly out, and that should fit the bill.

Tweety-Glad work wasn't too bad.  Sorry Slo Bro doesn't understand daylight savings time.

Ted-Glad you got to be on call.  Sounds like you have a very busy day planned.  Hope tonight goes well.

Joe-I'm glad J is feeling better.  Enjoy brunch!

Stars-Wow-you certainly have your hands full with Nannie.  I hope you're able to get some help with her.

J22-Glad you're feeling better.

Hope all have a good day.

Tweety, hope the shift goes smoothly and just GOES!  Yay to 3 days off!  Sleep well.

Joe, have a good day at church and brunch with J (glad he's feeling better)!

Ted, hope you can get your rest today and that tonight's shift goes well.  No bites on the house yet?

BC, good to hear you enjoyed the Bar Mitzvah!  I rarely wear heels anymore.  I like how they look but they are cussedly uncomfortable!

No Stars, I hope Nannie has a calmer day today.  Bless you and your dh!! Good she didn't hurt herself (or you!) yesterday, with her shenanigans.

Slept well.  Today we are heading to Disneyland for Dapper Day.  Will attend the Expo (vendors with various vintage items for sale, a dance floor, etc) and walk around the parks, as usual, enjoying the music and landscaping and getting to enjoy seeing others dressed dapper!  We have a dinner reservation in Downtown Disney at 6:45pm then will probably head home after that, to tend to our furry creatures.  I took the day off work tomorrow, so don't have to worry about hurrying home and getting to bed early.

Have a good day!

It makes me happy to think about Dianah and family enjoying Dapper day at Disneylans.

Gonna take a shower and probably finish reading the novel.

Sunny Sunday, and feels cooler than the same degrees when I lived up in the mountains, or New England. I can't believe I am no longer acclimated to feel that temps in the 60's is tolerably warm-ish! Either that or my interstitial tissue is disappearing as I age....

Tweety, I'm not sure how Ozzie will react to the "new" time. He may have already switched his internal clock, because for the past coupla days he has pushed to be fed his supper an hour earlier. Hmm. Can't tell by his sleep patterns, because he's like an old house-cat and sleeps more than he does anything else.

Ted, our TV-Phone-Internet provider has "Antennae TV" and we can watch Johnny Carson, Carol Burnett, Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock, Perry Mason, Barney Miller, Bewitched, and any number of Oldies, both black + white or in color, depending on the year it was aired originally. Problem sometimes is that the ones I would like to see are on after I go to bed....and I go to bed pretty late ... or early....like at 2 AM. Also don't know yet how to tape shows from this TV. I used to do it all the time, but have been too lazy to explore for the directions, which are .... somewhere. Anyway, Nannie has a hard time following anything with a PLOT, so we seldom, heck, practically never, watch anything ...like On-Demand movies. Since she is a permanent fixture in the den we take the easy way out and watch things she can at least partially follow.

Joe, I'm glad J is feeling better; sometimes I worry about his general health. Did you say what your new sewing project will be, or if you've chosen it yet?

BCg, High Heels??? Agh! I could dance a while, but I can't wear even the smallest heels. The last time I bought some clogs with a slight rise in the heels, I ended up donating them to a thrift shop. As an aside, my sister used to send me Bar Mitzvah (no, not Bas, Bar!) cards every year. I got a big kick out of it; after I'd get one, I'd mail her or call her, with the words: "Now I am a man!" That was way before it was a thing that women actually (surgically) became men.

dianah, I'm not sure if Nannie will have a better day today or not. I am having a better day, at least. But if she doesn't get up soon, she won't have any 'day' at all! We woke her up at 12:30 PM, but she said she didn't want to get up then. Same at 1:30 PM. Made me wonder if her brain got more rattled by the fall and the hit she took on her forehead. We both agree that due to the FITS she threw yesterday, she could be just plumb worn out. Hubby said to just let her sleep. It is now 3 PM and the light snoring goes on....Maybe she'll get up in time for supper and her PM meds. / Have a good Dapper Day!

Oh, well, now I can answer about Ozzie and the time change. He is sitting right beside me on the sofa, staring fixedly at my face. I asked him what he wanted and he wagged his tail and said "Buf". I said, Do you want your supper? He jumped down and spun around in circles and said "BARK!"  When I put the dish down and refilled the water bowl, he sat down and looked at the dish and the bowl. He does that prior to eating or drinking, and we always maintain that he is saying grace first. THEN he eats/drinks! (And he is done eating now, so.... Amen!)

See that herring posted, so I will go back and see what's goin' on w/ her.

The new project is a small needlepoint, of butterflies and flowers

Nannie woke up at 3:50 PM.

She told me that while she was sitting on the bathroom floor after she fell, there was a young boy in there sitting beside her. He tried to distract her from the fall by suggesting they go to the movies, but she didn't want to go. She said she got up and cleaned the house, and 'that boy' was acting mad. She said she asked him where I was, and he said "She'll be here in a minute." ...and lo and behold, there I was, saying we had to call the ambulance. Ta-da!

Maybe 'that boy' woke me up?

Ugh. Daylight savings. Doesn't matter if it's spring forward or fall back it just messes with me.

Went to church this morning. Typically, you'll only find me in a church on Christmas Eve, weddings, and funerals. This was All Saints Sunday, where they remember all those who died in the last year, including my mom, so pretty much the whole family except my brother in Florida made it.

Went out to lunch with the family after- there is nothing like authentic Italian food! Then spent time watching Netflix with dad at his house. I watched the movie, he watched the inside of his eyelids. Going to be a tough week for him- he retired last week which he set up expecting to be helping get my mom back on her feet (this was when they were still saying rehab and back to chemo before hospice got involved) and now he's going to be all by himself. I can't even spend that much time with him because I'm back to taking call for the OR.

Us at Dapper Day, and a photo of the Expo, and ppl enjoying the band.

I have said before, it is such fun to be at the parks with hundreds of others dressed dapper!  A lot of time and thought was put into what they wore, and it showed!  We chatted with many others -- dressing dapper to go to the parks seems to create camaraderie, for I find people are VERY friendly on Dapper Day!

We chatted with two lovely women from Louisiana who had made the trip JUST for DD.  They said they preferred the West Coast DD to the one at Walt Disney World, in Fla.  West Coast Disneyland was smaller total area, could walk to everything and not have to take shuttles and buses to get to the various areas.  They were staying at the Disneyland Hotel, where the Expo was held, so everything was convenient.  They looked marvelous, too!  They did comment that temperatures here on West Coast were not as hot as Fla, but they noticed the 12% humidity "as soon as we got off the plane!"  (and Anaheim is close to the ocean, to the humidity at Disneyland is higher than were we live)

Apparently there is a DD held at the LA County Art Museum as well, in January.  The next DD at Disneyland is in April.  Dates (and many photos) are available at the DD site online.

We had made reservations to eat dinner around 7 at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Cafe, and when we arrived we got a table near the musician for the evening, a young man from N'Yawlins ---- a pianist and singer.  Was he good on the piano, wow!  Played jazz, a little blues, some classical.  The food was great as well, made for a nice evening.

Back to reality today, though I took the day off to recuperate.  I wore small heels for the first part of the day, and my feet and legs can tell!  They are quite tired.  Will rest up before going in to work tomorrow.

Saw a meme on FB: AGE has its advantages, I just can't remember what they are!

No Stars, I can just see Ozzie "buf"-ing and then barking and turning circles, excited for his food!  😂!  Hope Nannie is better today, though sounds like she is sleeping off yesterday's energy discharge.  That means a quiet day for you!  I have antenna TV too, and see all those shows you described.  On weekday afternoons there is a lineup of Westerns: Gunsmoke, The Big Valley, Bonanza, Wagon Train, and The Rifleman.  Does Nannie do OK with those older shows?

Ted, hope your shift went well.

Tweety, I enjoy reading about your culinary prowess and creativity.  Enjoy your three days off!

herring, always good to see you.  How is dh doing?

Joe, hope it is a quiet week for you, and that the needlepoint progresses well.

Hello to BCGrad and amoLucia and nurseJ22!
