Good Morning!

BC, so sorry about the family drama your BIL seems to be causing.  Hope the family meeting goes well.

Ted, life always revolves around the pets doesn't it.  It get a little anxious those long days I stay late worrying about my hungry dogs waiting on me.

Funny thing at work is my ratio was 5:1 when clearly it could have been high because patients were holding in the ER.  Administration mentioned one of them to me, but "only when you have a discharge and are able to take him".  WHAT???  You're not forcing 6:1 on me?  I wonder if my blistering email getting things off my chest and that "if this is to be the normal I will not accept that" and you need to examine why three people quit in the middle of their orientation, not a direct threat that I would quit, but the message is clear, that I won't tolerate it much longer, had an effect?  Before I left the acting manager called and instructed the night charge nurse to not go above a ratio of 5:1 for the day charge nurse (me).  Interesting.  We'll see how much it lasts.

In return I put my filter on my mouth, stayed positive and cooperated with management when I had a discharge and needed to take a patient.  It still was crazy busy with 5:1 (sent two patients to surgery, discharged two patients, and got a shift change transfer from another hospital) and I didn't finish on time but I was glad it wasn't 6:1 and will take a small victory.  If indeed it's a victory.

It's tax holiday for hurricane supplies and I'll have take a look at that but want to stay away from people.  The beaches are crowded as the weather is gorgeous.  Stores might be busy too.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Tweety that's good, perhaps they are finally listening.  Though I think having 5 patients is too much for charge

Stars hope the pumpkin does the trick for Ozzie

NJ22 I do notice patterns...I have seen fewer birds in the last 2 weeks than I did in the two weeks prior.  And some birds show up for relatively brief periods

BC that is a good question, I'm not entirely sure.  Certainly not floor nursing.  Wonder about specialities like wound care

Hi Ted

Yesterday was nice, little cool.  Got outside for some birdwathching, though not many birds out.  Spent time reading and doing embroidery and exercise, watched Stooges and Svengoolie.  The Svengoolie movie was a bit dulll this time

Today I go to church and then online coffee hour

Then I meet J for brunch for the first time since October.   Will be kinda exciting.

Rest of the day should be fairly quiet.  Will do a bit of baking before church, and chopping some vegetables in preparation for cooking tomorrow

Think it will get up to 70 today, and mid 70s tomorrow.  No rain expected here

Good Afternoon, folks!

Tweety,   Sounds like a minor 'victory', but 5 is certainly better than 6 or 7:1... I would have paid attention to your email, by golly,  if I were in admin, because you were clear and succinct. It has been going on far too long already, and they sure couldn't find another employee they could load up like they've been doing with you. It's a thousand wonders you haven't quit them already.

Joe, w00t! Enjoy your 'reunion' with J.

So, this morning I gave Ozzie another couple of dropper squirts of pureed babyfood pumpkin. Fingers crossed! He ate some food mid-day yesterday, but wouldn't eat his supper, and didn't show any interest in the bedtime snack, either. Hubby and I talked about him ... hopefully he will "GO" today. He asked me if I thought a 'warm, soapy enema' would work.... I don't know about giving dogs enemas, so I'll have to look it up. Seems you'd have to be awfully careful introducing something rectally, because they have a lot smaller bowels and I wouldn't want to bust his guts! When he had some constipation issues before, the pumpkin was what I found when I looked up on line what to do. We'll have to see. I don't want to bring him over to the vet for all kinds of 'tests'... So that issue is on hold, as his bowels seem to be. Pray for poop!

It is supposed to be cloudy and cool today. I think we are in the mid to upper 60's right now, and the weather commentator of the house (aka Nannie) just told me 'the sun seems to be coming out." and indeed it is. I keep telling her that the 3-4 places we check for weather reports are always a little different from each other, so we take what happens as it happens. She doesn't seem to understand that weather FLUCTUATES all day long; it is seldom stagnant like she expects it to be.

I'm still tired, more emotionally and mentally than physically. The aches that have been accompanying me through the last couple of days has receded some. I think it MUST be barometric pressure causing some of it.

A neighbor mowed our lawn this morning for FREE, but he was going like he was on a race-track! So, anyway, hubby doesn't have to worry about the length of the grass while he is attempting to get his riding-moaner back in shape. He's disgusted because it was a high-dollar item, for which we are still paying on Nannie's credit card, and it shouldn't be giving him trouble yet... It ain't that old. He lost the original key and the second one they gave him for backup doesn't seem to want to work.  (Maybe we should borrow the neighbor's two goats?)

Brother-oh-boy, did the Braves ever get stomped last night! 13 - 2. Egads. They are playing the same team (Mets) tonight, so I hope they get it together pronto, and do better. Problems with injuries plague both teams. A really good player on our team was injured ... fractured two fingers while sliding in to base ... for which they usually wear a protective 'mitten' ... but he hadn't put his on. Anyway, next thing we hear is he is under arrest for domestic violence!!! How very disappointing (in more than a few ways!) So, it is probable he will not be coming back after his fingers heal, as MLB has some strict rules about players caught up in domestic violence issues.

Hubby still hasn't decided if/when he will be going up to the mountains to visit w/ his dgt. Last time he went, he was planning on staying for several days, but couldn't stand the thought of sleeping at her house, didn't want to get a motel room because of the expense, and he most especially doesn't want to be in the middle of her and her husbands problems.

I guess I will have a quiet, boring day. That's okay, because here, the word "Q" doesn't boomerang like it would at a workplace. But I am weary of living in ENNUI, which is probably like a double-negative or something...

~~~~~~~~pft!~~~~~~~~
Good Afternoon -
Recently woke up from 2nd Sleep. Got a text from work asking if I wanted to be On Call. I said, "Yes. . . with Pay".
Worked last night as Mr. Shift Director. The first few hours were crazy-busy in our teeny-tiny ER. When things calmed down, finally, the rest of the night was "Q" throughout the hospital. There were plenty of opportunities to just chat with my fellow night-workers on the units, which was nice.
While at work last night, I received a text from my loving wife. She asked that I NOT do the church thing this morning, and come right home instead. She was exhausted and wanted her husband home right away, rather than during the later morning/early afternoon after going to church. So, I wrote an evening text to my church's various leaders and said that I wouldn't be playing the keyboard this morning, and explained why. It was weird doing this. It was the first time in a LOOOOOOONG time (over a decade, at least!!) that I called out "sick" from playing keyboard for church. Thankfully, the response was an understanding one.
As mentioned yesterday, life is different with the new Puppy! She's adorable! But, she requires a whole lot of physical and mental energy.
She's learning new commands and phrases! And, she retains them! For the most part. Still, she's a a rascal outside, and loses the meaning to the new commands and phrases rather easily. It's been raining outside, which makes the "going outdoors" process more than a bit uncomfortable -- for me. The Puppy??? She doesn't mind the rain at all. In fact, she seems to enjoy lying in the very wet grass. LOL! (Ugh!) (She attacks the towel when we dry her off with it.)
Hopefully I won't get Called In to work tonight. If I don't get Called In, then I'll have three full days and nights of bonding and training our dear Sedona.
Well. . . Gotta go!
Peace! 🙂
Ted
Well, Stars, I see that you posted 4 hours ago, so we won't overlap today.
Youngest ds and I went to a different place for breakfast this morning. Our local hometown diner is closed due to "family emergency." The other place was okay, but I think they try too hard at being different. The servers were all wearing satin, sequined or glittery tops and all wearing work boots. Menu items had cutsey names for various selections. But they didn't have waffles. I settled for french toast, which a little heavy. ds had a not just an omelette, but a French omelette that he wasn't crazy about either. But they had decent coffee, so there's that. I did a quick 6 mile bike ride to burn off the syrup, lol. Weather here is overcast and just spitting rain, in the mid 60s.
BC, you are being a supportive sister, but of course you need to be aware of liabilities. Eek, hard to know what is the answer. Should you speak to a lawyer?
Tweety, I think you were heard and good for you for speaking up. I do hope it lasts.
Later, kids.
